These drugs gave me over 4 strokes and ruined 2 decades of my life in a domino effect.. I couldn't create any artwork, I couldn't function with these dangerous drugs and mostly I couldn't stand up for myself in the way a person should. They call 4 strokes and being a zombie better? @lmbgemini Having a cure for a variety of mental illnesses would be fabulous. Unfortunately, the stigma is so strong that little research is being done to that end.
@elloraluna What I said was that it would be better to have a drug free world because lots of people suffer in the hands of drugs and become addicted and never get a natural way of life. But I can see you mentioned this that I did not mention because you think the only way to cure mental illnesses is with drugs. But if you do a little research you will find that is not true and there might be in fact a better way already discovered but I will leave it to you to find it yourself.
@lmbgemini Please do not put words in my mouth- or posts. I never said the only cure for mental illness was chemical. However, many mental illnesses are due to real chemical imbalances and biological issues, and those must be addressed appropriately and effectively. There is too much snake oil being sold, and too little real research being done.

@lmbgemini Your brain is an organ. Your endocrine system is a structure. Chemical imbalances have causes. Many mental illnesses are due to chemical imbalances. Another common issue is unusual development of the neuron structure of the brain. On the other hand, many conditions currently treated as "disease" or considered "illness" are actually developmental issues, such as autism and ADHD- not "diseases" according to your popular-use definition.

I'm aware that the Church of Scientology is behind CCHR. I believe Scientology is a dangerous cult. But on this matter, we're in agreement. No one medicated children for ADHD when I was growing up. Instead kids played outside and ran off all that energy. They played baseball and rode bikes. They weren't saddled with lifelong psychiatric diagnoses for being boisterous or for the emotional turmoil of puberty. What we're doing to our children now is setting them up for a lifetime of misery.

Today, those kids can get interventions such as occupational therapy to help them focus, learn, and participate appropriately in activities (including sports).As adults, jobs were hard to keep. Instead of growing up angry and frustrated, ADHD kids today have a solid chance of growing up learning to cope with their experience and becoming productive citizens.

The medications you are against are not a cure. No one claims they are. They control symptoms. Overmedication is a serious problem, as is late diagnosis and late intervention. Both can lead to attempts at self-medication, such as illegal drug use and abuse of legal "medications" such as alcohol and food. Proper intervention includes training for coping, focusing, and self-regulation- none of which can be "replaced" by medications.

@dannyboidj1 Any medication taken in high doses over long periods of time will have side effects, which must be dealt with. It is absolutely vital that medication be used properly and carefully, and considered carefully. Using non-medication interventions concurrently is also very important, even if your medication support is "permanent."

plus most kids have psychiatric problems stimulated by family issues and are resolved when the child moves out or the parents take a step back witch is rare but possible.

most kids with ADD and ADHD get better when they mature, you cant expect a kids brain to be able to focus on school when they are not fully developed yet. The medication makes you dependent on it to focus so once you take it for an extended amount of time its hard to get off of those drugs.

Meh, I'm a type 1 diabetic and big pharma seems to be the only one able to give me the insulin I need to live. I'm so frustrated with the power pshychiatrists have in our everyday lives - too many kids are drugged and labelled, even before other indicators are checkhed out (needs of glasses, lack og sleep, bad diet, so on).

Most people don't know that there are THOUSANDS OF GROUPS OPPOSED TO PSYCHIATRIC DRUGS, because these groups don't have the ability to make their voices heard. CCHR just happens to be large enough, and so can reach!
The fact is that the FDA labeled these drugs as "suicidal" and "homicidal" (only to mention a few side-effects) after reviewing 1000s of cases. FDA doesn't issue warnings lightly.

Parents should warn their children about cults, amongst other things, including the Jeffrey Dahmer's' of the world, the Pedophiles, the perpetrators who use medical licenses to over-drug and violate human rights. She also covered the Chelmsford Institute case where 24 people were died after being given COCKTAILS of psych drugs which was preventable. Hm!

I did a little more research and all's I can say is that I empathize w/everybody, including the girl who was raped, as well as Eastgate for trying to do the right thing in terms of preventing psychiatric harm that the girl may have been subjected to had she pressed charges. You have to be very realistic to see both sides of the fence and to understand why people lie when they choose to lie. As for what the stepfather did, U don't want to know my opinion. Hope this helps

What's ironic, is that the FDA, a Federal agency meant to make sure pharmaceuticals are safe, pass theses drugs off as safe. I don't trust any government agency to tell me what is safe.

@MsBLiP I'm not a huge fan of scientology, or any religion, but you can't ignore psychiatric abuse just because the only people making their voices heard are the CCHR. Thousands of people have committed suicide or murder thanks to psychotropic drugs, yet ADHD can be cured (not treated, cured) by a healthier diet and vitamin supplemets if needed. Depression is cured by psychotherapy and being more involved with friends. I seem to manage to be CCHR without being scientologist.

They are what they are, and if somebody is offended by another person's behavior or actions then they obviously need a quadruple dose of their own medicine.

However, ADHD is measurable somwhat in that in general children with ADHD are a year or two behind in brain developement usually due to poor diet (there's a reason ADHD cases correspond with food deserts), this also means even without improved diets their brains will "catch up" when they turn 18. Also it can be argued brains just vary in developement time naturally, and a better diet will help anyone not just ADHD patients with brain developement.

Not only do I agree that a "better diet will help ANYONE not just" those labeled with "ADHD", but a good dose of healthy living, more exercise, less television, more reading, less time online, more bike rides, horseshoes, Frizbee, kite flying, jump roping, swimming or hiking ... any of the above is my kind of natural medicine that can/will work WONDERS for any child who is labelled w/ADHD. @elloraluna What I said was that it would be better to have a drug free world because lots of people suffer in the hands of drugs and become addicted and never get a natural way of life. But I can see you mentioned this that I did not mention because you think the only way to cure mental illnesses is with drugs. But if you do a little research you will find that is not true and there might be in fact a better way already discovered but I will leave it to you to find it yourself.

@lmbgemini Please do not put words in my mouth- or posts. I never said the only cure for mental illness was chemical. However, many mental illnesses are due to real chemical imbalances and biological issues, and those must be addressed appropriately and effectively. There is too much snake oil being sold, and too little real research being done.

And it also can't be proven as a disease or whatnot.

@lmbgemini Your brain is an organ. Your endocrine system is a structure. Chemical imbalances have causes. Many mental illnesses are due to chemical imbalances. Another common issue is unusual development of the neuron structure of the brain. On the other hand, many conditions currently treated as "disease" or considered "illness" are actually developmental issues, such as autism and ADHD- not "diseases" according to your popular-use definition.

I'm aware that the Church of Scientology is behind CCHR. I believe Scientology is a dangerous cult. But on this matter, we're in agreement. No one medicated children for ADHD when I was growing up. Instead kids played outside and ran off all that energy. They played baseball and rode bikes. They weren't saddled with lifelong psychiatric diagnoses for being boisterous or for the emotional turmoil of puberty. What we're doing to our children now is setting them up for a lifetime of misery.

@lifelieswaiting And kids with ADHD were labeled as problem kids, disruptive, stupid, lazy, and even "mentally retarded" in extreme cases. Today, those kids can get interventions such as occupational therapy to help them focus, learn, and participate appropriately in activities (including sports).As adults, jobs were hard to keep. Instead of growing up angry and frustrated, ADHD kids today have a solid chance of growing up learning to cope with their experience and becoming productive citizens.

The medications you are against are not a cure. No one claims they are. They control symptoms. Overmedication is a serious problem, as is late diagnosis and late intervention. Both can lead to attempts at self-medication, such as illegal drug use and abuse of legal "medications" such as alcohol and food. Proper intervention includes training for coping, focusing, and self-regulation- none of which can be "replaced" by medications.

@dannyboidj1 Any medication taken in high doses over long periods of time will have side effects, which must be dealt with. It is absolutely vital that medication be used properly and carefully, and considered carefully. Using non-medication interventions concurrently is also very important, even if your medication support is "permanent."

most kids with ADD and ADHD get better when they mature, you cant expect a kids brain to be able to focus on school when they are not fully developed yet. The medication makes you dependent on it to focus so once you take it for an extended amount of time its hard to get off of those drugs.

Meh, I'm a type 1 diabetic and big pharma seems to be the only one able to give me the insulin I need to live. I agree that the psychiatric and similar branches of big pharma have gotten completely out of control, but hey, thats the profit motive for ya. One of the uglier sides of consumerism, no doubt.
People should take some responsibility giving their children -or god forbid themselves- these meds, they wouldn't be sold if there wasn't a market for them. Freedom comes with responsibility.

I'm so frustrated with the power pshychiatrists have in our everyday lives - too many kids are drugged and labelled, even before other indicators are checkhed out (needs of glasses, lack og sleep, bad diet, so on).
This is horrifying, the degree of drugging and lifekilling that's going on. I've just met too many people "cured", who've become emotionally numb, mentally dumbed or just made "allright" (stuck in life, inanimate).

Most people don't know that there are THOUSANDS OF GROUPS OPPOSED TO PSYCHIATRIC DRUGS, because these groups don't have the ability to make their voices heard. CCHR just happens to be large enough, and so can reach!
The fact is that the FDA labeled these drugs as "suicidal" and "homicidal" (only to mention a few side-effects) after reviewing 1000s of cases. FDA doesn't issue warnings lightly.
People can either believe the warnings, or watch it occur in their own family before believing it!

@Archietexx Okay I apologize! :) It wasn't clear who you were referring to as "evil rat bags", but now that I've had a chance to do more research I take back what I posted earlier. :) I stand my ground about how wrong psychiatry has become today in comparison to whatever it was ever designed for. I think when people choose to practice medicine they simply need to practice in accordance w/the Hippocratic Oath to "first do no harm". Anyone who chooses to do otherwise is simply put - not a doctor!

Parents should warn their children about cults, amongst other things, including the Jeffrey Dahmer's' of the world, the Pedophiles, the perpetrators who use medical licenses to over-drug and violate human rights. Heck, they should even warn them about the warning labels on all prescribed medications. But above all - they should teach them about their constitutional rights & their right to say no to drugs!

People should be informed about the "side" effects of the drugs that is put into the children of today. It's a human right.
If thoughts and emotions were only biochemical then the big drug companies would have long since invented "The will pill" or the "Motivation pill" and they would be selling like hot cake in the business world. But thought and will and drive are not biochemical factors and just like will can't be increased or bettered with a pill so can't happiness and good life.

@3v3angel In May 2011, Jan Eastgate, President of the CCHR and winner of the Church of Scientology Freedom Medal for her work on human rights, has been implicated in covering up the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl in the Australian branch of the church. Eastgate was head of the Australian CCHR at the time and the girl was abused by her Scientologist stepfather between the ages of 8 and 11 years.

There's some compelling info. about all that she has done to uncover the horrific crimes that have taken place within a sector of medicine called "psychiatry" as well as how a lot of that played out in the brutal crimes in the holocaust (the torturing w/psychotropic drugs & death camps). She also covered the Chelmsford Institute case where 24 people were died after being given COCKTAILS of psych drugs which was preventable. Hm!

As for what I thought of the other top results that followed, I have not had a chance to view them, but when I do, I will be sure to come back here and let you know my thoughts. :)

@anonymoog hey no prob. I did a little more research and all's I can say is that I empathize w/everybody, including the girl who was raped, as well as Eastgate for trying to do the right thing in terms of preventing psychiatric harm that the girl may have been subjected to had she pressed charges. You have to be very realistic to see both sides of the fence and to understand why people lie when they choose to lie. As for what the stepfather did, U don't want to know my opinion. Hope this helps

Lets be realistic here okay. Forget about Scientology & their beliefs or how they choose to live their lives b/cuz this isn't about that - okay. It's about people who've been violated & who R reaching out. What would U do, and where would you turn for help?

What's ironic, is that the FDA, a Federal agency meant to make sure pharmaceuticals are safe, pass theses drugs off as safe. I don't trust any government agency to tell me what is safe.

Why do some people care who funded this video or what religion the people who made it belong to? The message is what matters. How would you feel about the message if the artist shared your religious beliefs? This is exactly the kind of ignorant discrimination that holds humanity back. And no, I don't identify with scientology or any other religion for that matter. I believe we can learn something from all religions.

@MsBLiP I'm not a huge fan of scientology, or any religion, but you can't ignore psychiatric abuse just because the only people making their voices heard are the CCHR. Thousands of people have committed suicide or murder thanks to psychotropic drugs, yet ADHD can be cured (not treated, cured) by a healthier diet and vitamin supplemets if needed. Depression is cured by psychotherapy and being more involved with friends. I seem to manage to be CCHR without being scientologist.

@MikaeleBaker Love your comment, but I must say ... there is nothing about ADHD to be cured! Labels are not diseases and neither are human behaviors! They are what they are, and if somebody is offended by another person's behavior or actions then they obviously need a quadruple dose of their own medicine.

@mygalmo Thank you, and you're partially right. However, ADHD is measurable somwhat in that in general children with ADHD are a year or two behind in brain developement usually due to poor diet (there's a reason ADHD cases correspond with food deserts), this also means even without improved diets their brains will "catch up" when they turn 18. Also it can be argued brains just vary in developement time naturally, and a better diet will help anyone not just ADHD patients with brain developement.

Not only do I agree that a "better diet will help ANYONE not just" those labeled with "ADHD", but a good dose of healthy living, more exercise, less television, more reading, less time online, more bike rides, horseshoes, Frizbee, kite flying, jump roping, swimming or hiking ... any of the above is my kind of natural medicine that can/will work WONDERS for any child who is labelled w/ADHD. Drugs are not the solution to everything. :)

None of the reported suicides, homicides, psychiatric coercions have had anything to do w/religious sectors, or even Scientology beliefs. It's about real people sharing real experiences w/an organization that has the backbone to bring awareness to our society - and NOBODY has been able to do that better than CCHR!
