Different teachers have different methods and styles. The Kyus are not easy to learn nor are the kyus easy to communicate when you are still learning -- there are dozens of points you are not communicating in these videos mountainous. I suspect you are using this as a tool to learn from yourself and to critique yourself -- also as a way to humble yourself. Kudos to you forhaving the courage to post this video.
G'day Mountainous, thank you very much for your video. It has been a very long time since I have trained in this art. I found it very informative and great for revision purposes. Thank you again.
Thanks MOUNTANOUS i watch all of your videos and i have to say you make great work for sharing with us.Btw im in the 8th kyu now and these are basics.Actually until black belt all are basics.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
yes so as to learn in full speed in class when we are shown techniques at fullspeed from outside if done properly you wont see or realize half the moves do to inclose damge that is hard to spot and from the inside view usualy a initial strike causes distraction or disorientation imagine back fist to jaw to get head looking up then right before view lwers to natural eye levels youre hit again in solerplexto as a setupto a throw or a jitsu
ones agin i been looking at your way and it good moe i watch more feel in and recall some stuff that learn when start in later video conbinding styile i remember that thumb up my bro
Your stationary stance is good but your movements are ineffective. It's less of a feeling of stepping but more of falling back. Also, you are aware that giving these video lessons of Budo Taijutsu techniques is a direct breach of the Bujinkan rules that you are supposed to have read and agreed to. Unless you've miraculously achieved the rank of shidoshi in the space of a year.
Unless I have it wrong, then I'll happily accept a correction.
I don't see that in the guidelines... They're on the hombu page. You can teach someone who doesn't know. You are not supposed to "correct" a training partner if you think they are doing it wrong unless you are a shidoshi. Green belt with one silver star is 8th kyu by the way. In the Bujinkan, green belts are worn up to the 3rd kyu with various numbers and colors of stars affixed above the kyu patch (left breast). Good video... Glad to see someone enthusiastic enough to share.
that star is gold. not silver. it is 4th kyu. but now i am shodan. this is old vid. go to my page to see real samurai armor 2 sets and i ride horses in full armor and archery in full real samurai armor and all new vids are in the mountains and lakes and huge waterfalls. doing blinding powders shuriken no handed rolls with archery etc. soon archery off horseback in armor. check out my page
plus most bujinkan and in japan all kyu rank is green belt. it is silver stars for 9th kyu through 5th kyu. then stars come off then it is one gold for 4th kyu then add a gold star for 3rd etc up to 1st kyu. then at shodan the patch changes to black and red and no star. then stars up to godan 5th dan and then patch changes again and more stars and the judan is new patch etc etc... some schools still do colored belts and use all colors. but green belt is 9th kyu - 1st kyu.
yeah i love this art ive trained various martialarts including bjj and muaythai and my heart is always with bujinkan love our philosaphies and the unique arsenal it provides like homotae or hora giyaku gan saka nagae those techniques are only used in taijutsu there may be similar moves in other styles but ninjutsu is done dif timing and distance the reflex training and for others reading bujinkan ninjutsu is the only real 1 look it up until next time shakino todaiyo to komiyo i know spelt wrong
i am not sure what the first word is but yes it means form. sanshin no kata means basic three hearts patterns/forms. it is a direct translation from hatsumi video i got from my teacher to work on at home when i was young.. it is forms or patterns. according to the grandmaster soke hatsumi. take care
@MOUNTAINOUS San Shin No Kata is correct, everything else is wrong! starting position (correct are for chi Hira No Kamae for other four Katate No Kamae), movement of the legs(do not do the SANSHIN movement with your legs) and shots!
@niloneske first this is 6 year old shit. see new vids. i am dan rank now and my new vids i wear real samurai armors from japan. 3 real armors. i ride horses in the mts in armor and do archery in armor. this room i spent 5000 on now fully matted and bad fucking ass. i have other budo artist come to train in armor with me. real machine guns. real aks. airsoft too. survival vids and extreme sports. dont hate. see new shit
i suggest you open your eyes and learn your bujinkan ranks. do i need to send you a link to bujinkan ranks sheet. it is a gold star not silver. meaning 4th kyu. i am now shodan. also your ability to create negativity and quick to smart mouth and judge. i will block you. go away negative energy. but i suggest you check my site out if you want to see archery and serious grappling and horseman ship with full samurai armor.
Thanks for that mate. It's extremely helpful. There are slight variations in the way we have been taught, but the basics are the same. Your video enables me to train up before my grading in 2 days. Thanks again.
Hi my buyu brother! i learned chi no kata to keep your hand up and to receive the punch by moving in to 45 degree( ive learned this way at someyas dojo)..but in this manner you can also refer to ku ..everything is a liitle different in the void!:-)..nice job bro! good video!greetings from germany
Your awesome, Iv let my true spirit become me and now whaen I study I have a heightened understanding, thank you so much for posting and helping me expand, thank you!! *bow* sensei
i guess that depends on who and how you learned your sanshin.. as for the footwork it is the same. this is similiar. like i said go to 4 different bujin and see how they are done differently and realize that it is a feeling not so much a physical thing. ok
plus in genbukan and jinenkan they teach the same stuff they learned with hatsumi before they left and did their own thing. not that i am comparing myself to them. just nintaijutsu you learn the basic of 10 different main martial arts to get a dan rank. so they will learn kempo karate tae kwon do and ninjutsu and other arts.
i have people who live in japan and high level dan ranks and they have no problem with me. i am 4 th kyu in bujin but shodon in nintaijutsu. i am not giving no one a bujinkan rank. i will be teaching the green level of nintaijutsu on ninjutsu on the online dojo that will open in the near future.
Jason I always like looking back. Now you have so much room. You should show these as line drills unless you have already done this. Plus you should talk about the breathing in each of the elements. That you talk about 1:22
Great video, I love Bujinkan I just got some Van Donk video's they are great and so are you.
Peace out brother. I want to practice for the Nintaijutsu Belt.
thanks man. i will be fininshing my syllabus and it is for green belt and called togakure ryu ninjutsu/budo taijutsu and i have to make 8 hanbo strikes vid and some ninja stealthy and water stuff and breathing and stretching and some random stuff and after 10 vids and vids i have i have come up with a syllabus on paper for someone to get a rank.
30 vids or so and some are 3 different techniques like katana 1,2, and 3 etc... making intro for laura tonight. and have you made your intro for laura yet and then i make a syllabus vid on youtube tomorrow night maybe and i added one vid to my account on mychosondojo site and i just have to upload all in order and then my page will be ready for kids. i hope to have syllabus and all vids loaded for rank belt within 2 weeks but i will get some on for kids to start in next couple days
also i need to make the 8 kihon happo techniques and i will have a freind help as partner and with bo kamae and sword and sanchin and rolling and all my sword chucks and bo and shoge vids and random basics on the not so common vids i will have a good syllabus and if someone gets belt from me they will know alot about bujin and ninjutsu and i will set up a advanced dan rank syllabus too...
dude thanx for this video i've been out of practice so long i forgot my kata. now i might be back up to date enough me master wont think i was slacking off
thanks so many bujin like to slander and i have had 3 teachers and 2 different states and in chi one uses boshiken strike and other uses shitan ken. so if you were to travel around each bujin sanshin slightly has differences. that is normal from what i here. but low kyu levels usually like to slander and act like they know it all. i am glad i can help. good luck with your training
that is not what i was shown from judan instructor. alot of bujin have slight differences. this is what i am shown but you could be right too. thanks for commenting.
i dont when i do them and i am just trying to teach it to 9th kyu level and really break it down. so they know fundementals and in summer i will flow them in all directions and no locking. thanks for watching and commenting
i am 4th kyu and i am teaching just basics that you learn in your first month of class. if you see my acct i am no longer doing any bujin vids. i am doing choson dtg now..at 5th kyu you are allowed to lead a training group and my former instructor is 10th dan in bujin and he has seen this vid
i hope that helps. just like someone who goes slow and does tai chi. just because they move slow and breath doesnt mean that they cant pull out any piece of that movement and use it fast and in a real combat situation. this is just the basic of basics. i hope that helps friend. thanks for watching
just like if you saw a caveman and he eats like a barbarian and you want to teach him to eat right. and you show him a fork and explain how to hold it and that it has a handle and 4 prongs on end for picking up food. does that mean he can not eat fast with a fork when he is hungry? the punch and strike can happen at same time while leaping into the attacker and fast as lightening. this is just basic principles of bujinkan taijustu.
this is a warm up movement and the reason i am going slow like this is to teach a beginner martial artist and i want to show them all pieces of it. when it is done normal and not teaching it is faster but not fast like a fight. this is to engrain the footwork and taihen which is body movement needed in all taijutsu which is art of the body. this is taught to a student on day one. as he progresses this movement comes out in all his taijutsu and one learns to evolve for all kinds of punches
yes you do move in straight lines but i am talking about footwork. when you do any of sanshin, say sui water form your foot steps back at 45 degree. but yes when doing it you go in a straight line.
Thank you for posting this my friend. I have heard other martial artists say that you cannot learn from videos. But I told him," perhaps that is a limiting belief"
cool i will be doing kihon happo soon and variations of all with leg traps invovled. i just bought big matt ordered and bought punching bag focus mitts and boxing gloves. and in spring i will be outdoors on mountain doing serious budo. thanks for not slandering me and watching
Mountainous, your heart is true. I think you should post more Bujinkan budo taijutsu vids. Making these videos takes courage. I've gotten some harsh critisism myself. Just roll with the punches, then pop up behind them and put a Gansekinage on thier sorry a*ses!
well there is one recieving and one giving, and basically i break it down for the basic beginner. sink and leg out at 45 and rotate and end up in t stance with block and then the attack.
JASON. Thank You so much for your Bujikan Techniques, your a good teacher. You have truly helped me learn to summon the element with your expnanation. Peace be with you friend.
That fingertip strike looks like the crane head strike used in Kung Fu.
yes my 9th dan instructor already corrected me. i know my grammer is not so good. when i do not showing it is more flowing and breathing but explaining. i think my sanshin is equal to 4th kyu. sink no hunch pull 45 rotate and yes i feel it is ok. i know kuden and godai sorry if spelling bad. i do the best i can for beginners with no school around
Well done, great stuff! How about the Kihon Happo next? there are very few good kihon happo videos out there! =) What's your forum username btw? Kenzo
same mountainous. i dont know how to use the forum to the fullest potential. i just put a picture on it and thats all i have used forum so far. kihon happo yes, but rolls stretching. etc... dont always have qualified person who can handle throws so i do solo for now.. it will come
Ah fair enough. You could do the first four though? And keep up the good work mate, I will post some of my own Bujinkan vids soon, see what you think?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Thats one of the worse sanshin no kata videos I've ever seen. It was hard even to recognize some of the katas done. If I were you I would practice for a few more years before posting another video.
im sorry you cant recognize the sanchin from all 9 ryu. im also sorry that you are not in bujinkan. you didnt hurt my feelings. i love martial arts and all else love vids. i will continue to post with love. dtg karate style. keep training and one day you will learn sanchin
I did not find the music volume excessive. Seek inner peace. :|
A great, very comprehensive video. Thank you! Couple of points for the viewers:
1. You do not punch with your arm, that is correct. You move your entire body weight to the back leg and push. At least that's what my Sensei taught me.
2. The main purpose of throwing your arm up in the Kuno kata is distracting your opponent from the coming kick. Of course, you can also use it to more sinister ends.
Yeah, but you know, you would never use that in actual combat. Like the strike with the tip of your fingers, you would never actually do that. These are just to train your movement and such.
i trained mainly gyokko ryu in illinos and when i came to oregon sanchin different alot in different ways, but all similar. if you watch hatsumis vids on this ryu you see him use it to hold mirror to blind. unlimited uses for the hand. thanks for watching, and realize if you went to different bujins sanchins will look somewhat different.
Sorry, but it's impossible to hear you over that music.
