  • if somebody has the chords , i will be happy..

  • In the early 80's my old band was lucky enough to open for this band at a local bar. We were not very familiar with them but we knew they were new wave and that Micheal Shrive was their drummer. Being as I was the drummer, I was very excited to be in the opening act for Santana's original drummer, the only drummer who had a solo in the theatrical release version of Woodstock. I still consider that it was a great privilege to have met and opened for him.

  • SAW THEM AT HITSVILLE IN NEW JERSEY.PETER HEWLETT KICKS ASS.LOVE THIS BAND. THANKS FOR THE POST

  • I've been searching for this song too. I remember listening to it on the radio in 1981. Thanks for posting it.

  • @HipsterDoofusNYC

Yes, same for me, there're 2 or 3 like that that i look since the new radios Fm 81', as "Radio 7" and the "Voice of the lizard", i have just found the one;-)))

  • I've looking for this song forever thank you for posting

  • thanks so much! Michael Shrieve from Sanatana. Unfortunately this band competed with the Police and Missing Persons and never got the play they deserved. Depeche Mode is here.

  • this train....'City bound E train AWESOME...forgot how much I loved this song

  • I remember buying this album in the early 80's and lost it through a devoice. When I tried to find it again on MP3 was never able to find the song. Glad to see it on youtube...

  • Somebody should try posting "Light of the World" that was a really good song as well.

  • Finally found it - Great , was looking for it for a very very long time.

  • Back in the 80s, I was in a band called "XLT" ... small-time pop band in the Chicagoland area. At various times we covered City Bound, Up Periscope, and Slow Fade. Ahhh, the days of leather, spandex, long curly hair, and big hoop earrings LOL.

  • OMG ! I've been looking for this song several years.. YouTube and ynohuh are great ! :) Thanks for sharing :)

  • 10/10

  • I saw these guys open for Cheap Trick here in Los Angeles CA in 1892 at the Hollywood Palladium. Cheap Trick were touring in support of their "One on One " release. Novo Combo was excellent. Somewhere I still have a recording of them live during this same time from a FM broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour.. That show is also excellent. What a great band .

  • @dukeofkbs The King Biscuit Flower Hour is where I heard them first and I have been completely and totally a fan of theirs ever since. Their studio productions were fine but their live performances really shown -- the talent was strong.

By the way King Biscuit Flower Hour is now on line as Wolfgang's Vault.

  • @Just4YML Thanks for the reply !! Yeah....my experience with Novo Combo was similar to yours. I really liked them a lot. I thought the odds on those guys were pretty good to go big. In that early -mid 80's ear of the beginnings of mindless sequenced pop drivel, they were an example of a band that had a current pop mentality that combined great musicianship with it. I thought another band like this at the time was The Fixx form England. BTW....love the Wolfgan;s Vault for the KBFH shows. !!!

  • This is YouTube at its best. A song I remember from 25 years ago and never thought I'd hear again. Thanks for posting!!

  • Thank you for posting. I really enjoyed this song!!

  • Nice..very rare.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Memory of a nice sunset on Manhattan avenue BK in february 2009.

    Great track!

  • trop fort ? ou je peux trouver la tabs ?

  • I can't download this group on iTunes Store...

  • Great song!!

  • Drumming style sounds a bit like Stewart Copeland.

  • I was their band tech and used to mix their live sound. In a NYC rehearsal studio I met Copeland's drum tech and we arranged for them to meet. Copeland's first words to Michael were: "Man, I've been listening to you for YEARS!".

So, what came first - the chicken or the egg?

  • @senorbellaco - Funny you say that. These guys kind of reminded me of The Police but I could never say why.

  • This is one of the most under rated Band.

  • good band but the opening guitar line at :25 is a direct ripoff of Hendrix 1983 on Electric Ladyland

  • anyone know where to find "sorry for the delay" from the same album? they opened their show in KC with it an was blown away. Fan forever!

  • Wow, this sure brings back memories! When are they going to re-issue their two albums on CD? I still have the record but no record player! Thanks for posting this.

  • Dude, if you're still reading this, I have a record player with a USB conneection, so I can digitize this album for you. I used to have it, and it's a great album! I was on YouTube looking for "Long Road" and found this tune.

  • i have the tape somewhere ..what a good bunch of songs they wrote, thanks...memories KSHE radio stl....

  • Saw these guys in New Jersey one night at a club called Pebbles on RT 17 in Rochelle Park. They warmed up for a local band named Split Sydney who did an AC/DC show. Thought they were just another "New Wave" band. I was captivated by the drummer and was blown away by thier Power Pop brand of music, when I found out the drummer was none other than Michael Shrieve (Santana) and the singer bass player was Stephen Dees I was hooked. Pete Hewlett says legal issues are preventing a cd release!

  • this is on polydor records ,surely they still have the master tape floating around somewhere,it would be great to have a proper cd release of this album

  • Super cela faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas entendu cette chanson. Cela me fait voyager dans le passé. Génial. Merci

  • the thing is,there was some even better songs that were never ever played on the radio-this song, and periscope, got some play-

i liked animation generation alot- and some songs i cant remember the names of-

but does anyone know that the drummer played with santana?

  • awesome to know i was not the only one who loved these guys....along with translator..the fixx...ultravox..early Police..the nascent days of New Wave alt-rock....happy times!!...there is an E-train in NYC...so, this made it x-special for me..

  • this is a great album i have mine transfered to cd-r from my vinyl copy sounds good... i like the track sorry for the delay... and this one city bound e train

  • This song was issued 10 years ago in Poland on CD MiniMax with other artists.

  • Great group, I want the CD's if they ever come out. I was at Park West in Chicago and seen them live. They were awesome!

  • Although I STILL (yes, still, and it works . . .) have a turntable, and this album is not yet available on CD, I found a service from which I could buy the vinyl album, and they would include a professionally-recorded CD. It was worth it because their equipment is more elaborate than my entertaiment system. The song "Up Periscope" was what captivated me, because some of my Navy career was spent in the Submarine Service.

  • why has this NEVER been released on compact disc after all these years?

  • I agree. However, you CAN get it on CD. . . . please see the reply I left for tubemenow2007.

  • You're right This album is great, and even though this song is probably the best one, there are other excellent tracks, all well-played. Three songwriter-singers in one band is not that usual. I plan to make a video about Novo Combo very soon.

If they make a cd, I hope it has the works: remastering, photos, comments, and bonus tracks.
