Perfect mix that lived in voice seen it all lived though it & lyrics so full of wit & intelligence. We would be beter makinng kids listening to this and try their damnest to reproduct it(let's fave it they won't beter it0 than what passes of music these days
I came across Tom Waits when I was 16. An English teacher mentioned him and his lyrics in class one day. After I got my first job, got my first pay check, and bought Blue Valentine and a record by a folk guitarist named Mississippi John Hurt. This song is one of my favorites. I think Waits has a way of hooking intot he common experience and making it funny, sad, something most of us can say "been there and done that." Also... "had it done to me."
Hey Guys we would love your opinion on us man, we love Tom and are really influened by him,, he is a legend !!!!! so if you are listening to this you have taste!!"
Tom Waits has been one of my favorite performers since I discovered him twelve years ago. Had just watched"American Heart", and happened to wait for the credits to roll. Then I heard this ragged voice tear into "Never Let Go", sat straight up, and said, "Who is THAT? I've been buying and enjoying his music ever since. I think he's phenomenal.
you should see his new tour and band....demonic and very rhythmic. Caught his phoenix second show from the front row. Shamanic power. Great voice..never got hoarse, as he tends to get when playing two days in a row. He'll always be able to order a drink and get it quick. Wish Tom would open some of his other material for his shows...like Foreign Affairs, Barbershop, Empty Pockets, Scarecrow, Playin' Hooky. (THose last two are only on bootleggs...but are classic...)
The song is an icon for Tom, and excuses the poor video. He has so many versions posted, some removed, I'll keep looking, but for now save this version.
Oh Tom...I remember being in a room full of people and this song came on and everybody shut the hell up. I humm this to myself every day. This song is a dream.
well, some people think corporate machinery doesn't have enuff money, so, when an artist protected by copyright is available on you- tube then you aren't paying for it, at least not them. It ain't logical, cause i went out and bought a legit copy of something i heard for free here.
but I havn't! Tom is my favourite artist, and you tube is the only way for me to see him, and I can't just listen to his CDs (which are beautiful)because he's just magic on the stage. Besides, in France, he's not very famous, not like in America.
tom waits a "la classe", vous ne trouvez-pas? C'est une valse, on danse?

Why is the sound offset? Seriously? Is that supposed to be patina? Cuz it kills it for me' - I'd like to see the honest delivery.

True artists really suffer for their art. They put their lives into it. Tom Waits is definitely one of them.

Ovviamente Tom Waits NON E' al festival di Sanremo...
E' la serata del 1986 al Club Tenco, che si tiene a Sanremo.
Ci mancherebbe altro...

Non ci credo!
Tom a Sanremo!!!
Ma perchè quelle maledette teche Rai non sono accessibili via internet?!?
Se qualcuno riuscisse a togliere quel ronzio....

The disturbance in the audio caused by the old videorecording make it souns kind of like an old grammofone :) Soots the song quite well!
