That thick book is probably Starblazer Adventures RPG, that is a thick book no mistake... it's too thick to be Pathfinder RPG but that's a thick book too.
I think you could easily play this on the D20 Modern system, you'd just need D20 Past and D20 Apocalypse, maybe even Urban Arcana and add a few things in there.
Brilliant. Sounds like Rifts but less silly and broken. Or maybe Shadowrun but with a more synergistic mix of genres (magic and pulp--totally makes sense. Magic and cyberpunk--wha?)
Totally different topic: Paranoia. It's brilliant, it's hilarious, it's dystopian; a classic. A review of that would be awesome. Especially the relaunch a few years ago rather than the 2009 25th anniversary edition of the horrible art.
@vonm1ses magic and cyberpunk can be really interesting, like if it is in a universe where they fight each other. Like, they are part of different worlds/countries/whatever. But, I do agree they can't mix....
I'm sorry but I'm going to have to say this is becoming savage worlds heavy. Would like to see something other then something that is for savage worlds.
I'm not sure if I'm sold on the Savage Worlds system yet, but that does sound like an AWESOME setting.
I have a question for you: You print off a lot of books and from the sounds of it from a personal home printer. What model do you use as I'm wanting to do the same but don't want it to cost the earth!
Hite's Suppressed Transmission books (or in the Archived Pyramid files if you were a subscriber to Pyramid vol II) would likely be quite useful here as well.
Call it post-apulpalyptic! I am running a Ragnarok game, and having a blast with the 40's-era personalities: Norman Schwarzkopf, Sr., Khrushchev, Upton Sinclair, the Shah of Iran, etc.
No Plot Point sections, but some very handy adventure generators in the second half of the book, and there are three cheap PDF supplements, with more coming. I recommend the Tehran 1948 book the city has become the espionage capital of the world.
This game does have similarities to Fallout. I also thought some of it sounded like Shadowrun difference is this isn't in the future. But countries divided, magic returns, humans transforming into fantasy races, giant dragons (well snakes in this case) did remind me of it a bit. Which is not a bad thing. Sounds awesome! I'm going to get me a copy with that nifty coupon code.
@theBeorn thanks i must have just not been paying attention. i did check it out though and there is a cool campaign part for gm's no plot points, but kind of a campaign builder sort of thing.
Savage Worlds is a good game, but it has its flaws. I don't like the tactical combat aspects and the fact that you pretty much have to use miniatures in order to play. What's worse is the "acing" (exploding dice) mechanism, which means that if the GM gets "lucky" and rolls high, he can wipe out an entire group quite easily - the chance factor in the game is too high.
My D20 Past (Yes, I'm playing that right now) group are fighting psionic-wielding Nazis... Maybe Jormungandr is a bit too much, but, come on, nuke to the face!.
Although, I'm more partial of the Native-American settings and ideas, so maybe we could make him not just Jormungandr, but also Uktena, or Quetzacoatl, just viewed with different lenses... Hmmm...

There's no shame in gushing over a product. I do so quite a bit when new WoD stuff comes out, or when I find a great RPG book at Half Price Books.
Still, during this entire review, I kept thinking about Fallout for some reason.
