sbs123ish, a static move can also be dynamic. Besides his first attempt his feet left the wall. Last time I checked, that qualifies as a dynamic move or dyno...
@starasoris That's all correct. One more tip: The whole movement should go through your body like a wave, initiated by the tension in your legs, following your hip (!) moving towards the wall, and then (!) your upper body. (Reading books sometimes is more helpful than the Internet ;-)
@ovomusic It was meant to be a SIMPLE demonstration of a dyno and, yes, that was a dyno as in "a dynamic move". It doesn't have to be a 10 foot vertical leap in order to qualify. You really need to recognize that advanced climbers that are already accustomed to such techniques and are skilled at using them to extremes aren't the ones looking to learn from these videos. This was a good example and won't deter beginners from attempting the move. Dynos are hard, start small until you get better.
crap. i'm in the expert village part of youtube again...

More of a Dead Point than a Dyno.
He could have mentioned some fairly useful tips that work for either Dead Points of Dynos.
Such as :
Getting your weight below the hold you are going for before you hit it so you don't swing.
Sticking your feet as soon as you hit so you don't swing around.
Trying to contact your the hold at the top (dead point) of the move.

It was technically a dynamic move... not a big one, but a good one for showing how to do it.
