(Interview with Kovalainen on the BBC website confirmed this, its not a blind statement.) We should just be grateful they are both still alive. I'm Australian and I was embarrassed to hear the Australian commentators blaming Heikki. He was on the same lap as Sir Webber, and was not required by any rule (written or unwritten) to move out of Webber's way. It is a race after all.

Then you have "the Lotus is slower and so should get out the way" argument. Sheesh! How utterly self-serving and desperate. If a "slower" car always has to get out of the way then why bother with a race? Why not just run a time trial and be done with it?

@DeuPKay nope...Webber pitted earlier before the crash so he can go faster without the traffic. After he pitted he was behind the Lotus. The green car (the Lotus) was not a lap down on Webber, so he had every right to defend his position.

The crash was a racing incident, the braking point for the Lotus is about 80m before the Red Bull's, which is why Webber crashed into Heikki.

The thing is Webber is racing for a c'ship and Kovaleinan addmitted he was trying to block Webber from overtaking. Heiki has no chance of competing and should've moved out of the way, instead he breaks way before the breaking spot and Mark is just a passenger then. Those of you who have never raced at speeds well over 200kmh really can't comment on how fast things happen. Heiki needs to wake up and Mark shouldn't have been in that position, losing 7 spots on the 1st lap and getting frustrated.

Kovalainen was trying to get out of the way and he ended up going directly where Webber was going. Webber should have realized this and backed off. It was a racing deal, errors on both parties in that crash.

When wanting to overtake or race directly behind another car on the straight it is 100% the fault of the driver behind if anything goes wrong. Heikki has a shitter car and naturally has to brake earlier and he stayed in the right position on the track even though technically anywhere on the track is the RIGHT part.

Webber needs to grow some balls and take responsibility.

I find Heikkis professionalism towards F1 pretty low. Not long after the crash when he had arrived in Pits he was on Twitter saying "this is a race and I was defending my postion". I believe his comment was correct, for almost any other team. But when your team is consistently 3 secs slower than all the top level F1's, there is no real point in defending that position when the race is 57 laps. He should let the faster cars pass.

In a way, this is both there faults.

It's Keikki's fault for not letting Mark Webber past him because he was the much faster car. But than its Webbers fault for not backing away from the challenge and he could of passed him somewhere else.
