at 2:22 - 2:37 and then again at 2:51 he is checking his vocal levels and monitor. he is talking to the sound guy. thats why there i some talking 2:22 - 2:37 (his initial request) then a scream for no apparent reason (test of new settings) then further adjustments after that. and again later on in the song at 4:00 sounds like he was having sound problems.

If you wonder what he's saying, he's complaining about his monitor, actually using his mic to complain to the engineers - on multiple occasions. It's very unprofessional and surprising coming from Bruce. He is telling the monitor engineer that if he can't turn up the monitors then he will find somebody who can. He says many other choice things, as well. Actually, he's struggling terribly through this song.

@dkdadlh The powerslave tour was endless, he was singing every other night for around 8 months. The band have said half way through the tour they felt like going home, it was just too much. Bruces voice suffers because its hammered every night for months.

there is something bugging me about bruce's voice in some mid-80's (if not all) performances. it seems like he couldnt reach many high notes, like he did on his first IM tour (Beast on the Road) and from the 90's till today :S. He has really reached his peak now on singing insanly high notes, since the 90's.
