i have had my green egg for about a 2years and i have never had a problem, the green egg is better. my brothers wife's sister got a grill dome and in two months she dropped it and the wouldn't give her a new one even though "SHE HAD WARNITY". wow.... what dose that tell you
You really have no idea what you are talking about, do you? The egg is not hard to put together what so ever. It took less than an hour start to finish... and I'm not even good at this type of project. I was able start cooking some perfect chicken within two hours of purchasing the egg. Way to sell out guys.. you should be proud.
I have a grilldome. If I were to do it again, I would have chosen a Big Green Egg. My Grill dome didn't come with accessories required to operate, which added to the cost substantially. In addition, the accessories offered were offensively cheap. After a few months the spacer ring cracked, and the paint began to bubble on the outside. Upon close inspection, you'll realize that the quality these two clowns are speaking of is nonexistent.
Is anybody really going to base their purchasing decision based on what Gomer and BBQ Buddy have to say? That would be like going to a Chevy dealer and listening to them compare Chevys to Fords. These guys make money selling these Big Green Egg wanabes. By the way, who came up with the wonderfully imaginative name "Grill Dome"?
You put it together one time. This is a poor video. You don't know what your talking about. All you keep saying one is a better product, other then putting it together you don't say why.
I bought my Big Green Egg & they actually delivered it to my deck. Set it up & lit it for us.
I prefer to purchase a tried & true product w/ a good history & great customer support. But then, that is just um um my opinion. My grandfather always told me. It's better to spend a few extra dollars to get a good products w/ support, then a cheaper product w/ no customer care.
I say talk to folks with an egg, & get real feedback from folks who don't have a financially interest in the product.
Stupid charcoal grills? traegers suck and are for the lazy uninformed people who are either too busy to enjoy taking the time to do it RIGHT! Slow down, learn about the fire... sip a beer... relax... smell the smoke.... get a little dirty... you will enjoy yourself, trash the sterile trager.
I have used both and i'm still buying an egg, your opinion is just an opinion , my experiance says buy an egg . My opinion says untuck your shirt you look like a 5 year old heading off for the first day of preschool....Tool!
bobul2, please see Dome V Egg: bb ribs, pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin, and whole chickens. The ahh's are common for a non professional pitchman. Mistakes are simple for humans to make. For example please see comment, "have waste 3minutes", from bobul2.
The Bubba Keg beats em both. No need for heavy and fragile ceramics anymore, plus the Bubba Keg is portable. The ceramic units do look better though. What this video lacked was a comparison of how the two units COOK, which is after all why people buy them.
I also think the Bubba Keg is a nice grill, however, I don't know how the steel unit will hold up to the elements compared to the ceramic units. I believe the ceramic kamados will fare better over time.
For cooking comparisons, please see my videos on: Bubba Keg Grilling Test, Egg V Dome Baby Back Ribs, Egg V Dome Whole Chickens, E V D Pork Tenderloins, as well as, Egg V Dome Tenderloin Steaks.
absolutely, and I highly recommend it, the flavor and ease of use are far superior to briquettes. Also, natural lump gets much hotter and burns much cleaner.
I'm sure you are just a jeolous dealer but thats ok everybody has an opinion, and no I did not lose it I can get them all day long and also have a extra large ,large and small that we cook on. have you ever cooked on a grill dome? I bet not. that is still ok its easy to knock something you haven't cooked on.
Really weak video and statements. Assembly happens once and a local dealer would do it for you anyway. Did you lose your BGE dealership due to carrying other ceramic products?
Sounds too Old Time Used Car-ish for me. I have had my large Big Green Egg for nine years now, live 75 feet from the Ocean and extreme winters here in Nova Scotia, and have never covered it. The powder coating on the bands and nest are fine after all the salt spray they get. I cook all year round, I researched the other products and ate off a number, the material used in the Egg comes from the same factory that makes the heat sheild tiles for the Space Shuttle, good enough for my food..........
Little research might be in order, and pieces of the Shuttle are made in lots of places outside of the US, the Arm/ Manipulator on the Shuttle and ISS is Canadian Technology. Research . . . . . . .
sorry just got results back from lab and here is what they found. Why our ceramic will not break or crack when they are heated? We found a type of ceramic material that has a very very small thermal expansion ratio. The closer the thermal expansion ratio of your ceramics is to zero the less the liklihood that your ceramics will break.
We use a type of ceramic called Spodumene for our ceramics. It has a very small thermal expansion ratio. We can get the thermal expansion ratio to be 0.2x10-6/℃ . It is so low that we can say the inner surface and outer surface almost have the same thermal expansion ratio. We are confident our kamado will not break because of thermal cycling. BGE uses a material called Cordierite and its thermal expansion is higher....1.76×10-6~2.30×10-6(20~1200℃)。
ok I give but you did bring up some valid questions about the egg. 1. i could not locate anything saying nasa produced anything for the egg other than what egg says on the site. Today it is made with space-age ceramics that were developed specifically for Big Green Egg to make it durable even under extreme weather conditions. the only thing i could find about nasa certified is when they cooked on it at a function. could not find a patent on it. at least 10 other companies make cookers patent??
not only does it cook better it has way superior hardware. I know once your a brand lover its hard to switch but the proof is there whether you want to admit it or not.
Oh, just in every way. All my friends prefer the big green egg. It is just easier, better quality, and most importantly, its the right height for easy cooking.
If I pay that kind of money it will be the BGE. I have watched your videos, went to your website and think the Dome grill is ok. I like the BGE look better. I love the BGE, people know when they see one. I wanna try food on both. I noticed your intake holes are smaller than the BGE. Why is that? What would be useful is a slid out ash clean out.
well most people know the egg but that really doesnt make it superior. I just hired a chef that will be doing recipes on both the grill dome and egg to show you the comparison the intake is not much smaller and serves the purpose. However a ash clean out is an excellent idea i will look into how we can make one of these work. Thanks for the idea.
Shopping for a new grill, I found this. Even with the caveat that the gentleman is expressing his opinion, the overly partial tone was too sales pitch'ish and really undermined the comparative purpose that it seems to intend to be. For that reason, the video didn't accomplish either convincing me the Egg is an inferior product, or that the Dome is superior and left me with the same indecision but only now with a feeling that I watched an 8 minute late night infomercial for the Dome.
not really when the egg annouced no internet sales it just made me look for another product and found out there are 10 or so products out there that are like or better. I still sell the egg i just think out of the 10 other products grill dome is superior ive cooked on every single one of them and my favorite is the gd. hey if you like your egg more power to you . they are a great company. I just like something else. happy grilling.
cooking demo's between grill dome and green egg are in the making and will be released soon. Yes the proof is in the cookin. Have you cooked on a grill dome Dakota?

This is a sales pitch - not a comparison. He is at least honest enough to state that he sells the Grill Dome.
All of the points he makes has nothing to do with how it functions as a cooker.
If he was a Big Green Egg salesman he would being saying the exact opposite.
This is a very slanted, incomplete review.
