  • hey is that john greely singing? he's gotta new band he just started

  • @acelaw2000 At first. Then when the heavy shit kicks in, it's Jon Schaffer on vocals.

  • why in hell do people go to vids that are opposite to the sissy ass pop just to dislike it??

  • @treason4life There are people in this world called jews, they go out of their way to do things like that.

  • @pigeonpsycho Depends which ones you ask... Israeli ones tend to love this stuff, lol.

  • 1:15 THE PENIS IS REALITY

  • if they disliked this vid they probably go around listening to boy george with wimpy amprissytions of growing up to look just like shim. if you dont like metal prissy boys dont mark with dislikes. just go listen to some sissy pop and blow ya self

  • intro sounds like tenacious d

  • nerd metal, but awesome.

  • I can barely believe I actually shook the very right hand that created this magic twenty years ago... ;)

  • Just saw this live in Greece, loved every second. Stu rocks

  • First power metal album I ever bought - on cassette. Put it in my shirt pocket, was at a restaurant, bent over to look into one of those indoor ponds and out popped the cassette. 1992. Still one of the best metal bands around!

  • THE PENIS IS REALITY!

  • @Cleevous666 - LMAO, I have been a huge fan of this band forever, and I have NEVER giggled to this song before in my life until I read this comment hahaha, congrats!

  • @boothoot lolololololol \m/ Keep it Iced brother!

  • uh uh more more give it !!!

  • the intro makes it sound like iron maiden :)

  • schaffer does an amazing job on vocals. I dont see why they cant get rid of stu block, go back to their thrash roots and have schaffer singing!

  • There are live shows with Gene Adam doing this song.

  • the whole album makes me headbanging like a crazy lml,

  • I love this album. It is my favorite Iced Earth album.

  • FIGHT ON, GRAB ON STORMRIDER, STORMRIDER!!!!!

  • Can't wait for the hurricane. Time to ride the storm!

  • Fight on!! Grab On!! STORMRIDER!! STORMRIDER!!!

  • damn, I am so use to the Days of Purgatory version that at first I recognized the music but then the vocals totally threw me off. HAIL ICED EARTH! COME BACK TO DENVER

  • Anyone who thinks this is john Greely or Gene Adam its neither of them its Jon Shaffer Singing Stormrider.

  • @Theblackmetalist

Well, it is Greely singing for the first 40 seconds.

  • @MetaI4Brains the 1st 40 seconds i believe is the ending of Angels holocaust it always confuses me if its the ending ofd Angels holocaust or beginning of stormrider.

  • @Theblackmetalist

I think on Night of the Stormrider, the part with Greely is part of Stormrider, and the Days of Purgatory version has it as the end of Angels Holocaust.

  • i can see how people think this sounds like slayer.but overall is doesnt lol

  • @Lolwutpearguise John Greely kicks ass

  • ok i don't mean to be stupid here but who is that singing matt or tim ?

  • @Zach9624 Neither according to the Archives.

  • @Zach9624 Neither, it's John Greely.

  • @Zach9624 matt all the way dude...was too early for tim..

  • @Zach9624 jon

  • very very old song ..... in my opinion very HARD HEAVY METALL

    MONSTER METALL \m/

  • this is traditional metal

  • I think the gallops at 3:04 - 3:23 are the fastest that I have ever heard.

  • Angel of Death and Face The Slayer, actually. I mean I hear it.

  • @DarqTalonAzel

no......no sound of slayer lmfao this song is far better

  • @diaryofthedead

    You're right. :)

I like this better than Slayer anyway. \m/

  • This is the best epic thrash metal album ever. Iced Earth rocks.

  • I think people instantly hear angel of death when something has fast triplets in it...

  • idk, this song sounds like Death Angel style xD, i still like Iced Earth more than them though lml

  • i cant stand the the way publicity is shared in our fucking world...iced earth and hundreds such bands less popular are known by so few in contrast to ...justin bieber and such faggots that are globally known...but that's reality...

  • @ragnarokaeris whats known as "popular" today, is just the brainwashing of the young masses. Mere flocks of sheep being herded into bankrupting their parents. Music, on the other hand, is for us real people who are able to do the unimaginable feat of thinking by our own selfs, and to know what music is all about.

  • This is the one Iced Earth song I prefer over the version on Days of Purgatory... probably do to the fact that John Greely isn't the lead singer on this song... Jon Schaffer is. It makes me wonder though if Schaffer is a better singer than Barlow, I wonder what all the Iced Earth songs that Barlow sang would sound like if Schaffer sang them instead.

  • the changes of rythms is the best thing in this band!!!

  • @KafrosKros you mean tempo changes but fuck yea!

  • @KafrosKros They Gallop like no other i thought megadeth was the top galloper nauh thes guys just came in and kicked megadeths ass

  • Intense riffs rule forever. What incredible grooves. I can't believe I hadn't heard this album yet.

  • HOLY FUCK

  • omg when the first distorted riff comes on, fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk yes

  • @Kaaybeee FUUUUUCCCKKKK YEEEEESSSS!!!!!! THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THIS BAND!!!!!

  • WHERE HAS THIS BAND BEEN ALL MY LIFE?

  • @jimmy56100 lol was thinking the same thing when i 1st heard them about 6 years ago be sure to check out there other albums Horror Show, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Dark Saga, The Glorious Burden, Burnt Offerings, there are more and they're all great : )

  • @jimmy56100 Better question would be: Where have YOU been your whole life, not knowing this band? :p

  • Is it just me, or are the original three album covers way better than the remastered ones?

  • @metalstorm3000 Definitely. The remastered covers just look too... too... polished, I guess you could say. The originals (especially the first one, that's my favorite of them) are plain, simple, and straightforward. The remasters are too detailed and have too much going on in the pictures. Really, one would think that a giant winged beast crushing and eating a guy would be better than a falling angel, but one would be wrong.

  • the first iced earth song i ever heard, and defo one of the best

  • It sounds like that perfect blend of thrash/progression that was blended perfectly in Master of Puppets album. These guys are great.

  • Personally, I think this album is very underrated. It's probably my favorite album by Iced Earth along with Burnt Offerings. And this is probably my favorite Iced Earth song as well!

  • Tbh, Iced Earth was alot more enjoyable and fun to me when they had Gene Adam and John Greely, I'd have to say I prefer Enter The Realm, Iced Earth, and Night of the Stormrider over anything they did later on, later stuff sounds too slow for my liking

  • Definitely iced earths best album! An excellent vocalist and kick ass thrash riffs make it a winner!

  • Jon Schaffer has a new project called Sons of Liberty. Anyone who is an Iced Earth fan should check it out, it's awesome!!

  • Illydan The Stormrider

  • favorite song!!

  • this song is deathinetly cool!

  • I'd consider early Iced Earth to be power thrash.

  • Yeah, same.

  • thiz song rocks meen

  • is jon schaffer on vocals?

  • yup

  • I dont like slayer they are to loud. this is cool and old school, 5 stars, This is heavy metal, not that death metal garbage, thet goes rarararara.

  • you have no clue what your talking about

  • Slayer is actually thrash metal. And yes, they are very loud haha. I love it though :) And would yall quit thumbs downing people's comments just because you dont agree witht their very reasonable opinion. I LOVE Slayer and theyre my second favorite band. You dont see me thumbs downing this comment. You dumbasses.

  • slayer IS KICK ASS! favorite album?

  • @13todays8ing fav album? Reign in Blood of course....lol Years ago i put on my slayer RIB shirt when some jehovas witnesses came to my front door one day and i ripped it open and said "so you must be the sacrifices" they never said a word just kinda scuttled away....was so hard to keep a straight face i tell ya XD

  • ya Slayer is thrash metal... which quite a bit of Iced earth can easily be considered thrash.

other thrash bands uve prolly heard of.

    Megadeth

    Metallica (first 4-5 albums i say 4...)

    Slayer

    Anthrax

    Exodus

    Testament

    Overkill.

dont knock other bands cuz u dont like it man.

  • if they are too loud then turn the volume down...

  • wtf? Heavy metal is all metal. Even douche bag metal core is heavy. that's not even a genera you dumb ass. And slayerr is to loud? NO SUCH THING AS TO LOUD!!!

  • 0:54 oh my god great fuckin riff!

  • iron maiden of thrash metal!

  • 4 me it's not thrash...

    ICED EARTH IS HEAVY METAL!!!

  • @jard18 its actually POWER METAL :D \m/

  • actually they are an american brand of power metal, taking elements from thrash and british heavy metal...the only name ive heard it reffered as aside from american power metal, is Epic Power Metal

  • i'd just call it 'THE GOOD STUFF'

  • well thrash is a subgenre of heavy metal so since this a kind of a mix of thrash and power metal that works!

  • O_O ermmm....yeah. Exactly like Slayer O_o

  • not really

  • I was being sarcastic dude. It doesn't sound anything like Slayer!

  • wait shitty singing and Generic guitars.... I dont hear that anywhere?

  • I was being sarcastic in relation to someone else who said that. Of course it doesn;t sound like Slayer. But that aside. Slayer are not fucking shit. They be the the bees knees!

  • ok retards that gave doobs102 thumbs down he said he DIDNT hear the bad shitty stuff in most music today

  • wow your cool. i bet your parents are so proud.

  • This is jon schaffer morons

  • It´s John Greely not Tim Owens!!!!!!!!

  • This was actually sung by Jon Schaffer. It was one of the few songs that he did all the vocals in a song.

  • are you crazy?! you need to get your hearing checked mate lol it sounds NOTHING like angel of death lol

  • @metalmouth12345 the vocal rythm is a bit similar.its not a copy though.

  • @metalmouth12345

    who said that? ROFL

  • @metalmouth12345 Well, if this and Angel of Death are the only 2 metal songs you've ever heard in your life, I could see how you see similarities between the two.

  • @KV286 eh? that was supposed to be a reply to someone who said it sounded like angel of death. and no this and angel of death arent the only metal songs i've heard lol

  • @metalmouth12345 Well, I didn't actually mean you when I said "you", I was just generally speaking, you know, kidding around. Just a joke.

  • @KV286 lol no worries :P

  • this is pure metal! fuckin awesome!!!

  • This is Jon Schaffer

  • Matt Barlow is my favorite IE vocalist, but this version is better than the Days of Purgatory version.

  • yeah, curiously enough

I always preferred Barlow, but I liked the whole album without him, lol

  • is there a video of this song on youtube with the lyrics?

  • am i the only one who thinks that this song sounds like thrash metal?

  • it IS thrash metal

  • @codyz1112594 I wouldn't call this straight thrash, but more of a blend of power and thrash metal, like most of their stuff is.

  • @S0unDOfCha0S yeah this song has alot of thrashy elements in it though comparing it to the rest of their work

  • well in the old days they were pretty much concidered thrash metal....thrash/power metal

but now a days with the new singer i dont think there very good anymore well the singer isnt at least the band is amazing though i love this vocalist even if he was a douche bag who wouldnt take schooling for his vocals to improve cuz he thought he was the best already

  • Actually Matt Barlow who is the lead vocalist in most of the older stuff, from 94-03 is back with the band. Can't remember who came in from 03-07 but he wasn't nearly as good as Matt.

  • ....im talking john greely days man back in the 80's u know this guy here singing....he had the voice for iced earth

  • It was Tim "Ripper" Owens.

  • lol loser

  • Tim Owens? came in between 03-07 was it not

    just trying to help lol

  • Wow XD

  • it's because there are thrash elements in this album, and all other iced abums

  • Yes, it's funny because it kicks the shit out of a lot of thrash.

  • fucking amazing.

  • best album for me is burnt offerings and horror show

  • are you retarded?

  • are you mad?!

  • Of course the lyrics matter, take Manowar for example, good music but sometimes the lyrics are so cheesy i can't hardly listen to it.

But i can agree that IE's lyrics are bad on TGB

  • Lyrics are important, and i know that without guitars it's not metal, everyone gets that. But good lyrics is always a bonus

  • At least I can see Helstar91 knows his metal, not so much everyone else.

  • so any form of acoustic ballad, done by a metal band...isnt metal?

  • Why is everyone giving him thumbs down....He is right...

  • Depends on how you look at it. On one hand you have people who enjoy well written and powerful lyrics, and will be attracted to metal musicians who can... and then there are people who are attracted to the more instrumental or "musical" side of it and really never look at lyrics. Lyrics in metal are very important, and while lyrics for slam death metal or brutal deathgrind bands are usually very overly voilent and usually just syllables for the growler to use, there are other bands where lyrics

  • are as important if not more important than the music, where poetic lyrics can only enhance the music. Agalloch spring to mind, where the music and lyrics play an equally large role in the overall atmosphere and feel of the song.

  • It's quite important to find a balance. Especially in Power Metal, you go too far o9ne way you get Dragonforce, who's lyrics are awful, if they had better lyrics they'd be more popular. Go the other way... well you end up somewhere where the lyrics are too complex for the songs, so you end up not listening to the overall effect. I actually really like Iced Earth lyrics, it does help they are my favourite band. But for thrashy power metal they do damn well.

  • @exxwaizee

    What about Summoning?

  • @exxwaizee thanks for uploading, i love iced earth

  • @exxwaizee look at the lyrics of Dismember or Entombed, they are not only splatter stuff

  • @6The6Deathbanger6

I know. It's not unanimous, but a lot of death metal bands have entirely superfluous lyrical content. The lyrics for Wormed's music is for example pretty interesting, lyrics about space, time and technology and stuff like that, but the vocals are entirely unintelligible, and I have to admit I don't really care what he's saying at all. I can understand a lot of death metal growlers but I'm really not big on lyrics at all, unless I'm listening to prog rock with sung lyrics.

  • man i still sometimes get goosebumps listening to dante's inferno. that was the first IE song i heard, and god it blew my mind. but ya my favs are def Burnt offerings and Stormrider.

  • Ahhhhhhhh, when Iced Earth was an awesome band! Don't get me wrong, the later stuff ain't so bad... but it'll never be this good again!

  • In my opinion, he sings that song better than Barlow does

  • Of course! Barlow tries way too hard. :P

  • Nah Barlow is my favourtie vocalist, so to me it;s the other way. BUT it is still DAMN GOOD

  • Fight on!

    Grab on!

    STORMRIDER! STORMRIDER!

    Iced Earth ftw

  • They're the two best metal genres put together.

  • So fucking true!!! this song kick ass

For the people who search to buy this album it's very simple buy the Dark Genesis ( cd is included in this box).

  • my favorite non-barlow album

  • They kick major fucking ass!

  • Love the riff that starts at 2:47.

  • fuck yeah thats a badass riff !!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah, everytime Jon plays that riff live, a baby shudders and dies in it's crib.

  • hahaha ROFLMAO

  • Who sings on this song?

  • Schaffer.

  • WHY AM I THE CHOSEN ONE???

  • The First 2 albums are the BEST... but i do like Matt Barlow... he is awesome...

  • at thrash level id say Burnt offerings is the best.

but hell how can i decide every album is so fucking different!!!

  • Can't agree more there, they (exaggeration) always had a new member :P Three singers in like 7 albums is way too much. I thought that at least with Barlow they could go back to maybe The Dark Saga style... but hell no it's completely different now (not better in my opinion).

  • i like their newest albums singing alot better than rippers 2 tho... and theyve had 4 singers... and songs like divide and devour is awesome.

  • man your comment is meaningful, but song examples like divide devour is completely irrelevent, for new fans you dont wanna look for songs like that. They need more of the Horror Show era with songs like Behold the Wicked Child or Crucify the King. Thrashy power metal is what makes iced earth so good. There has not been one bad album from Iced Earth, theyll make hip hop sound good

  • ya i can agree w/ that. lol , but my first song i heard from them was Dante's Inferno. this was my friends first IE song. but really they are an ez band to get into. anyone who likes anything from rock to heavy fuckin thrash can love IE. they seriously have something for everyone. one of the most diverse bands, which is why they are so great. but ya for most trying to get into them. i'd prolly say some songs off dark saga or maybe something wicked, or like you said horror show would be best.

  • I download cause my economy just isnt enough, but when im older and have a income source ill buy music from the stores and i agree abit with druchi0 .
