@girohead1 You are right. Shift to small/small and remove the wheel with the bike upright. You will swear less when putting the wheel back on.

He forgot to inflate the old tube to find the position of the puncture.

A quick check of the tire does nothing good. The only thing that really works is FINDING the cause. Not just look for it and forget about it if not found.

He didn't find it. So there goes a nice brand new tube to a short life.

you could'a just pulled out the tube and patched it with the wheel still on the bike, it's quicker and easier.
