I'm 56 yrs. of age and you make learning so easy. I really appreciate it. I see light at the end of the tunnel...and perhaps I'll become a decent player before I get to the light! Thanks bro!
Gibson Les Pauls are my dream guitars, but yeah only a good guitarist can make a guitar sound good. Someday if I get good enough, I'll reward myself with one. Great lessons!
@frnezykiller e minor is the relative minor to g...they use the same notes in the scales which is why you play them the same way. what makes it sound different is the chord the scale is being played over.
Good shit marty. Ya know what I was never really planning on buying any guitar dvds but I'm strongly considering yours. It's one thing to be an awesome guitarist, but it's another to be an awesome teacher... I think you have a good balance between the two that can really help people get better
Marty i have a HUGE question. I want to and plan on buying your "secret to weapon blues domination" DVD set. I know how to play blues and can play a bunch of stuff and songs that i've learned by ear. But i'm self taught and because of that i have no music theory under my fingers whatsoever. And i want to know if this DVD set will teach me any music theory? or will i just learn to play blues without being so sure of what i'm doing? I hope you get what i'm saying.. Thanks Marty
I'm 59, been playing since 13, played in bar bands. Moved to Chicago 2 years ago and of course I was taken in by Chicago Blues and open band blues night. Hands Down your videos are perfectly balanced between the theory and application. Where are you located? What brand is your 335 like guitar. There is nothing needed to learn that cannot be found by getting to a lesson on the net. You Rock and you know what you are doing
Idk if you'll read this marty but I got this booklet with all the minor major andminor 6 and dorian mixolydian and aeolian scales in all the 5 positions. Iv learned both the minor and major scales and im trying to learn mixolydian and minor 6 scales. but when I try to blend my mixolydian with other scales. Mainly the minor pentatonic I sound like complete crap. All these scales are in the key of a. Amin pent. Amaj pent. And the a mixolydian. Do you have any tips to help me blend better?
@WaltonWembleyMusic - hi there, just read your comments on Marty's lesson and I think the only way to get good at 'blending' is to practice it - a lot!! I feel the same way, perhaps a little ahead of yourself, but I find that trusting your ear and coming up with licks, then going back and deconstructing them 'theoretically' is the way to get your head around it? Anyways, good luck with it!!
@Tbonetardis Thanks! But do you know if there even able to be blended? or are they in different 'A's? Cause the Mixolydian I have says just A Mixolydian
@WaltonWembleyMusic - it's hard to get your head around I know! I started by learning the pentatonics both minor and major, then adding the 'extra' notes in found in the modes. Perhaps just try one at a time, for example, the major 3rd added to the minor pentatonic (in A minor, is the C sharp note added) - just this one note really gives a bluesy feel like mixolydian (listen to me slow blues track and you'll hear it all the time)...good luck!
@WaltonWembleyMusic i thought A minor was in the key of C. the 1 and 4 and 5 sound "major" but when you are modulating you are not intermediate anymore i can't apply this shit i shouldn't be typing..
@XxGuitarist Marty has taught me more about my guitar in just a few months than I was ever able to learn on my own. His free leassons here are great, and his DVD sets are worth every penny! You've been on YouTube over a year and a half. Where are all of your lesson vids? Maybe you should just clam up and go back to your video games.
Great Lesson Marty, You should get some sort of forum going where people who live close to each other can get in touch and start jammin, the Marty Schwartz message gets stronger and people start jammin more because of it!! I wonder how many of us that follow you live close to each other but just dont know it?!? Anyway, as usual great lessons!! Andrew
Hey! I know another Jersey kat that's a Marty student. We should make a Meet Up group for Marty fans to get better at Jammin' on the advanced stuff. And then pay homage to Marty.

Hey Marty..One question..When you pick fast do u use strictly alternate picking or economy picking??
Since one year i stuck at 120bpm with 16th notes and dont get where the problem is.
I recognized now that i alway when i play faster i automaticly turn to economy picking? Is that mayby the problem??
