Oman is much better than the other GCC states because there is more openese to founers and there way of life. (people wont bother you :)

Oman was one of my favorite places to travel to.The country is so beautiful its blue beaches and white sands are amazing
,the pesople so genuine i would highly recommend it for a "diffrent" captivating holiday

Any particular towns and cities you would reccomend? I'm heading there soon. I'm trying to visit as many "hidden gems" as possible - that is, large pre-modern villages and cities, nothing with skyscrapers or public transport.
