@dean4tech its actually a 7 spd smg transmission that automatically engages the clutch so it is like an F1 car transmission so it way ffrent from an automatic tiptronic shit

the smg II on this m5 is a 7 speed automated manual gearbox. mechanically its exactly like a normal gearbox, except the clutch is operated electronically, and you shift each gear sequentially by the paddle shifters, or by the floor mounted shifter. it has a clutch just like any other manual transmission car.

This, my friends, is why you're very careful what used M5 you buy. In 30k miles these guys will squeeze half the life of that engine, leaving you to pay big bills around 60k miles :-)

He only had it full throttle for about 5 seconds at a time, these engines are built for high rpm's. Most used m5's are probly pretty good, to wear down that engine on public roads in 30k miles you would probly end up in jail.

The e55 offers much more low end torque, while the M5 has amazing high RPM power, and better handling. If you drive in heavy traffic often, the AMG may be the better choice, because the SMG can be a little clunky for stop and go traffic, however I still prefer the M5 much more. The AMG also has a softer ride.
