I first heard this melody as Elvis Presley's Tonight is so right for Love. I think it was on Presley's GI Blues album, which my elder sister bought in the Sixties. It's good that a fine composition can be re-cycled as a good song, though I'd be surprised if Presley himself had known much of Offenbach, or Hoffman either, except maybe through stories like The Sandman. Thanks for posting this great piece.
