  • I am currently in the process of reading this book. My cousin got it for me after strongly recommending it to me. Unfortunately, I am well-acquainted with Islamic history, and this book is not really history. It's more like story telling. It's a really interesting story; I just wish things actually happened the way Ansary describes them. While he does admit that this is more like a "coffeehouse" discussion, it would be very dangerous to take this book for what is not: a history textbook.

  • Every American should read Ansasry's book, be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim or other. It provides essential context of the most vexing issues of the day: Palestine, Afghanistan, the Arab/Israeli conflict. Ansary is a wise and gentle guide.

  • The loser blames his problems on someone else. European colonialists did not shackle Muslims with bronze age wisdom like: Kill them wherever you find themuntil Allah's religion reigns supreme(Koran 2 :193). Jesus father is no better. An Islam apologist (see Amazon review) cares for the destiny of Muslims, not the destiny of Man.

  • @rogercooke1 Do you blame the banks for the current recession? If so does that make you a loser? Try reading the book before you pass judgement, its only fair to keep an open mind.

  • I could listen to this guy all day. Big fan.
