I should have known better than to get sucked into falling for this as being "live". Yeah, ok, maybe, but it's been gutted and muted more than someone squealing on the mob. It's like an entertainer coming out on stage, and saying, "I't's really great to be here, now goodnight".
@memeigd Actually it's a mediocre song. Note that few artists record "I Should Have Known Better". It just sounds great because the Beatles are singing it. The Beatles had the Midas touch. They could make a song written by Bruce Springsteen sound great.
I was ll yrs old when the Beatles came to America. I cried when I saw them and wanted to run to England to marry Paul. I lived the magic of Beatlemania. It was awesome beyond comprehension. PLEASE go to my favs and click on ALL MY LOVING. these are 2 fellow "original Beatlemaniacs" from Brooklyn New York that I grew up witn singing a tribute to our favorite guys. THE BEATLES MUSICAL MAGICAL GENIUS WILL LAST FOREVER!
It's not live. Despite the poor quality and chopped-up sequence, the audio is recognizable as being identical to the studio version, right down to George's guitar break and John's double-tracked vocal. They were miming. They had to do that on a lot on British TV programs, for various silly reasons. So did a lot of bands until comparatively recently.
I just read, and I will post it here, the Beatles repertoire for the fall 1964 tour of the United Kingdom...
Twist&Shout,Money,Can't buy me,Things we said today,Im Happy just to dance with you,I should have known better,If I fell,I wanna be your man,Hard days night and Long Tall....this is on page 178 of the book entitled The Beatles Live....
In the movie The Complete Beatles - 1982 - they described The Beatles as good......very good to the backdrop of this clip. It came over very well. And - of course - was spot on. I think Andy McDowell did the narration.

This footage is incredibly 'RARE'....there are virtually no videos, audios,or otherwise of the boys doing shows in the Fall of 1964,and they played many....not even of all those 1964 Christmas shows! There must be some footage or pro shot of the boys during Fall 64/Winter 65...right ??
Interesting footage. Clearly shot behind-the-scenes during a promo film shoot. Looks like a control room vantage point. A description of the source probably would've helped the haters understand this video. Thx 4 the up!
@worldcitizenforever You must smoke joints when you write these comments, or you just haven't made it past 3rd grade yet since you don't make any sense. Your grammar is terrible. What is a Bitle? And you said Gays for bitches, not Gays n' bitches. Good luck in the future you little prick.
@worldcitizenforever God, you are so stupid. You post on some many Beatles videos. GET A LIFE! You don't even make sense anymore. "Gay For Bitches" doesn't make any sense.
A little rare Beatles footage is better than none. If I want to hear this song in its entirety, I can do so at home- it's not important. I'm just glad that some fan filmed this brief snippet. Clearly, they're miming here.
theres never any wires comming from their microphones or guitars live in any of these videos on youtube, perhaps the beatles are not all that meets the eye.

This footage comes from the Granada archives. The edited mimed performance seen here survives as a complete performance. Additionally, there are segments of the song being mimed in 'rehearsal' clothing with John sporting sunglasses, and moments of them having a cigarette off set. As far as I know, it is not commercially available. A brief portion of john 'pulling a face' (shot from the studio floor) is seen in Anthology.
Thanks for posting this. It may be from the "Eye of the Hurricane" DVD and is probably all that has survived. John appears to be lipsinking to it. Maybe someone has the TV program this was part of.
This is not live....they are just miming to the track for the cameras.....Don't you people know a live sound from a prerecorded one?
