  • Jade falcon for ever

  • @a0classcriminal particularly when the Summoner was the choice of 'mech for Jade Falcon. Guess the crew thought that it was easier using the the same Timber Wolves as for Clan Wolf.

  • Funny how they used two Timber Wolves for a Jade Falcon movie, huh.

  • jade falcon got owned in mechwarrior 4 in new exford

  • I love it how in this game, the Jade Falcon (portrayed as a dark, sinister clan, as if they were the enemy) is actually the one that wins, while the wolves are portrayed as "the good ones" yet they are responsible for this war and loose against the Falcons. It's awesome.

  • @Sake906 The Wolves started the Refusal War because the Jade Falcons threatened to denounce the Truce of Tukayyid and resume the invasion. Ulric's goal was not to annihilate the Jade Falcons, but to cripple them so they'd have to suspend any invasion and give the Inner Sphere the fifteen years needed to improve their tech and prepare to defend themselves against the Clans. The Jade Falcons won the Refusal War, no arguing that, but needed years to rebuild their strength.

  • idk why but for some reason the jade falcon clan always reminded me of the romulans from star trek.

  • Hi I'm recruiting for a clan called

  • This intro still gives me chills. Played this when I was 11... still have the CD! I love this game.

  • Jade Falcon maybe have been the leader of the Crusader Clans, but it always wanted the Kerensky Bloodname and always felt cheated that it went to Clan Wolf. Both Wolf and Jade Falcon are the two strongest clans, but while Clan Wolf is more open, Wardens. Clan Jade Falcon is always far to closed off and Crusader. The Jade Falcons could not even see that the Refusal War for what it really was and that is why, even though they won, at the same time they lost.

  • Great old school game and Awesome intro

  • Remember those events that brought us these fifteen years of shame.

But remember also those who fell to restore the glorious Star League.

    Above all, remember the blood legacy of Aidan Pryde, child of Kerensky;

He made the final sacrifice so that his Clan could continue.

    For eternity shall we praise him;

In fifteen years shall we avenge him.

-The Remembrance, Passage 417, Verse 29, Lines 74-79 (Clan Jade Falcon)

  • @DeltaAssaultGaming In 15 years they did not avenge him though. Operation Bulldog put a stop to the Clan Invasions. The only revenge the Jade Falcons got was they beat the ComGuards in the Great Refusal. In the end, the Wardens really did win. Star Colonel Aidan Pryde though was the best of Jade Falcon I believe, he left a legacy that others used to try to change the Clan for its better. Like Khan Marthe Pryde.

  • @redarmyofficer1941 Operation Bull Dog and Operation Serpent, i think you mean. Operation Bull Dog was tasked with chasing the Jaguars out of the Inner Sphere, while Task Force Serpent went ahead and attacked Huntress (and nearly annihilated in the process) until their lucky break came in that Operation Bull Dog had arrived just in time to save their arses.

  • @Gallowell And afterwards the Great Refusal on Strana Mechty when the Inner Sphere forces fought a Trial of Refusal against the Clan Invasion to stop it for good. The Jade Falcons fought a ComGuard unit in the Trial of Refusal and won. That is how they got their revenge. The Clans lost the Trial of Refusal overall however and the threat of the Clans was gone. This Trial of Refusal became known as the Great Refusal.

  • @redarmyofficer1941 Aye, the Clan Jade falcon was able to avenge much of their defeats against the ComGuards in the Great Refusall when they won their battle with the ComGuards. That gave Khan Marthe Pryde and the rest of the Jade Falcons their strength to push the Clan Steel Vipers out of their invasion corridor (at a huge price) but ended up still being one of the most powerful Crusader Clans, which would explain why they are still as strong in the Dark Age series.

  • Nostalgia indeed, i was 17 when this came out and i played it a lot.

  • Nostalgia'd. So hard.

Disregard my completely unoriginal channel name.

  • Man...I remember playing this 9 years ago. Is it sad that I still remember it word for word? Lol....JADE FALCON! WOOT WOOT!

  • We are Jade Falcon, great among the clowns

  • @Manboyno5 must be a trader wolf.

  • Wicked game and fierce style. I get shivers.

  • "With Falcon sight we choose our foes.

On Falcon wings we harry them.

With Falcon claws we smite our foes,

And with Falcon tenacity we win."

    --The Remembrance (Clan Jade Falcon)

Plus numbers, a clan warrior does not need.

  • Jade Falcon always is outnumbered; yet we will win.

  • Based on view count, Wolf supporters outnumber Jade Falcon by almost 2 to 1. For the honor of Kerensky! Long live the wolves!

  • @realunoriginal Yeah u will die jade falcon.

  • CLAN JADE FALCON TO THE DEATH!!!

  • If you like this video, order and read the book(s): Legend of the Jade Phoenix Trilogy. It has a near-identical aura. It's really a shame the direction things went with Mechwarior 4, MechAssault, the Dark Age novels, etc.

I had this video game as a kid and read that trilogy around the same time. I've been pathologically obsessed with science fiction, space colonization, and the resulting radical political systems ever since.

Trance/telescope/battletech sourcebook art = heavenly weekend

  • @Novantii I don't see how the books you talk of are near identical to the game, seeing as how the first two books of the trilogy (The Way of the Clans and Bloodname) centered around Aidan and what little talk there was of the upcoming IS invasion has very little depth to it until 'Falcon Guards'

  • After more than 20 years of being a BattleTech fan, I only just discovered today that the remains of Kerensky orbit the Clan HomeWorld of Strana Mechty and that it is guarded at all times by a Star spun on rotational duty by each of the Clans.

Very odd that I never found that out sooner...

  • theese cutscenes make me shiver, even today. something modern games with all their technology do not. maybe its because you use ur imagination more when you dont have all that pixel shading dx11 graphics goodness in front of you. or modern gamedesigners are just dumbasses ;) dont know. but hands up for the good old times :)

  • We of the Star Adders are not swayed by the cry of the Falcon, nor the howl of the Wolf. We will one day take what is ours by right and fulfill Kerensky's vision of Unity, and we will crush all who dare oppose us!

  • @SulliMike241 YES! We will kill all who would oppose the glorious Star Adders. We will use the might of our Mechs and the fury of our Aerospace to cut a swath across the battlefield, until all are either on their knees before our honor and might, or dead at our feet

  • Can anybody tell me who is good and who is evil?

  • @TheDecepticondude If you mean 'sides' that's really for you to decide who is good and who is evil.

You'll find that both sides do brutal, bloody things to one another (and themselves)

  • @Gallowell Well, I always side with Clan Wolf, so I think Jade Falcon are the bad guys.

  • @TheDecepticondude Everyone thionks different, and I can't knock you for what you like most.

The Jade Falcons were my favourite clan (in the original BT seriews of books, but now, I'm much more a fan of Clan Snow Raven.

HINT HINT - MORE SNOW RAVEN campaigns/missions!

  • @Gallowell yeah that's pretty much the description for every Battletech faction. They all truly believe they are doing the right thing which leaves no chance for long lasting peace. Most of the factions have some sympathetic characters within them or at least somewhat understandable goals...

... Except the Blakists. I hate those lunatics.

  • @Significantpower Sounds like the politics in the world today, quiaff?

Continuing to do things (whilst being ordered) then turned around and few people had any idea of the events in the IS Worlds don't even have minor hope of working to re-built the IS if the House leaders (plus the minor commonalities) never - NEVER stop the constant fighting the do.

I can honestly say that if I was part of Kerensky's Exodus, I wouldn't look back at the IS.

  • We are Clan Jade Falcon... everyone else can suck it.

  • @Matthevv7 Snow Raven.

  • I wish I had a bird that carried a sword...sigh...anyway..i miss the 90s where games like this were in abundance. Now its all space marines and aliens, dont get me wrong I still enjoy playing them its just that nowadays it aint as varied as the 90s to early 2000s

  • @mchief190 Not to say that the games of today are nothing but repetitive and unoriginal. BattleTech/ MechWarrior at least gave you a challenge )not to say a sense of arrogance when you can bring down 2 stars of 'mech with only 1 IS lance

  • We are Jade Falcon, great among the clowns

  • So, Clan Wolf was Pagan, and Jade Falcon was Christian... Hmmm. Talk about history repeating itself. Now I know why I always fought against Jade Falcon.

  • We need a new MechWarrior game....NOW.

  • "We will retake what is ours by right: that shining jewel Terra!"

Boy, why don't we have as many badass monologues as these in today's games?

  • @blackyoshi1230

Its because gaming is now about the "gamer culture" rather than games having their own moving character and culture (which they used to).

  • Clan Jade Falcon FTW

  • I love watching this kind of videos

  • We are Jade Falcon...Great among the clans!

  • Is it me, or does the Jade Falcon intro music has an "evil" tune to it compared to the Clan Wolf intro music?

  • @Intranetusa Jade Falcon are crusaders, they are driven to dominate, succeed at all costs, they want to dominate Terra by force. They are the most aggressive clan of the Clans, feared too so some people consider them slightly evil.

  • This brings me back. I always loved the sound that mechs make when they walk. JADE FALCON FOR THE WIN!!!

  • me and my dad are die hard jade falcons. we never liked the wolfs

  • go house steiner whooo!!!!!!!

  • I think me and my friend started out Wolves, and then we decided that the Jade Falcons were cooler for some reason... this was before I read all the in-universe background. It's awesome watching this again and actually knowing what they're talking about...

  • The faclons are quite glorious, but I believe the wolfs truly hold the power to all the clans.

  • I always been a die hard falcon myself.

there was no real good guys in mechwarrior as i understand it... but each faction thinks they are. they all have their reasons

  • My uncle was always a jade falcon while i was a die hard wolf, he said the other day i always thought falcon was the good guys. *face palm* i had to explain it was a matter of perception, lol

  • @CWScott24 Me and my dad were 'obstinate Wolves.' I played the Jade Falcon campaign just to 100% the game, but had to replay Wolf again to wash away the filthy feeling.

  • @unnamednewbie13 Totally agreed there. Playing the Falcon half made me feel dirty. *shiver*

  • It's something of a religious metaphor. Both wolf and falcon follow Kerrensky, but differences in the subtleties of their ideologies make them enemies.

  • ok. now i want to make a blue print of a mech warrior. im going to make my own blue print right now!

  • Jade Falcos have Aiden Pryde full stop Jade falcon wins.

  • As much as I like JF, I don't find your reasoning to be very logical. Correct spelling: A-I-D-A-N

Aye, and one warrior means nothing unless you have an ARMY to back them up. Otherwise he would not have lasted as long as he did on Tukayyid.

At least next time you try and prove a point, throw in some more names, their actions et cetera - even if you pull them from your arse.

Star Commander Joanna, Khan Marthe Pryde, Star Captain Horse, Star Commander Diana Pryde even Nomad would have helped you

  • clan wolf is bettah! :P

  • To you, perhaps.

  • Not the vastness of space, nor the wolves obstinate howl will stay us from are richous goal. We are crusaders and will trample ALL who stand in are way!!!!!

  • @Steelviper75 riteous

  • @unnamednewbie13 Now you do me, until we get the word right. :P

  • @Steelviper75 That is a pretty epic line, I will admit.

  • Freebirth scum!!!!!!

  • So says the infidel who was born of an iron womb! Our purity shall triumph! Hail Kerensky!

  • Do you even know the meaning of the word 'infidel'?

  • Yup.

  • I don't think you do, otherwise you would not have used it, since it does not really apply in this circumstance.

  • You realise you are freeborn also, do you not?

  • Death to the trashborn!

    Long live the freeborn!

  • Jade falcon for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my favorite clan

  • I always loved them when I was little. They have such a kickass logo, especially that square oval motif.

Any details you guys know of about their ideology?

  • Their ideology is simply Crusader - to invade and rule the Inner Sphere.

  • The PPC itself? It doesn't tell me a thing about the strength.

  • i just love those jade falcons

  • Is it wrong that I chose Jade Falcon on the mind set that whatever starship had more engines the better it was?

  • Pretty much, because then you'd only be playing half the game.

  • Never heard of either, nor have i seen them in any mechwarrior game.(Unless they are more well known by the innersphere title?)

Regardless, without the Timberwolf, the clans would have failed alot more than they did.

  • Dear me! It seems a thousand centuries ago since I played Mech Warrior II! Though the graphic was not that stunning anymore at the time I played it, but the game itself remained brilliant and the atmosphere and story were amazing. The Jade Falcons were my favourite Clan, what is of course natural as the French were ardent Crusaders in the past too and will maybe have to become again, so my blood had drawn me to the Falcons, therefore: Damn those Warden Wolfs!

  • I hate Falcons.

Pathetic that they have to use Wolf's mechs to feel superior.

Funny that they actually use the Mad dog and the Timberwolf, instead of creating their own omnimech

  • the falcons use and favor the thor alot, thats an omnimech. Plus most of the clans use the mad cat. Samething with the IS, they share or steal each other's tech.

  • You, uh, do realize that the Timberwolf and Mad Dog are incredibly widespread designs used by several Clans?

  • Yeah? Still seems weak for the clans to siphon off designs from Wolf, shows weakness to me.

  • It's not as if Jade Falcon didn't construct their own models. Pinion, Jupiter, Turkina, Black Lanner, Cougar...

  • Are any of those successfull or well heard of?(Except the cougar of course, thats a great mech.)

  • Alongside the Cougar, the Turkina and Jupiter are particularly well known.

  • The Turkina and BlackLanner are quite well-known

  • The game took place during the Refusal War in 3057. All those mech you mentioned (except Black Lanner) didn't exist/weren't produced until after the end of the War. Pinion itself constructed in 3067.

  • Eh, time be damned, I just thought it was appropriate to list Falcon 'Mechs.

  • They don't 'steal'(in the traditional sense). Much of the first 3 centuries of their history was spent creating and sharing ideas. It's simply that certain 'Mechs became more popular with certain Clans (Kodiak -Ghost Bears; Summoner - Jade Falcons; Nova - Wolf)

  • The "clan of parrots" is so badass that they need to fortify their position on this clip with TimberWOLVES.

    Long live Clan Wolf!

  • This was a game... great.... I really loved it.

  • The voice by the way is supposed to be Marthe Pryde, just a tid bit hehe.

  • why they make jade falcon sound bad. fuck that

  • Because we are the ones who brought the true meaning of glory to battle, Death to all who apose

  • @JadeDarkness8822

is that why in the invasion jade falcon suffered heaviest losses? maybe they should say death to us when they oppose.?

  • all the clans are a little bit "gay" like the german nazis... thats their problem, they don´t fight for freedom and pease or money... they fight for their perverted idea of a perfekt masterrace. The people who are not "perfect" are only waste and junk for the clans...

  • well, not 'instead of' but i'd say in 'addition to'. It'd certainly be nice to re-live the civil war between clan wolf and jade falcon with modern graphics and controls. as well as take vengence upon smoke jaguar for stealing the ghost bear's DNA legacy. Also never got a chance to play Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries (required a PC too high for what i had at the time)

  • Wow I BARELY remember this compared to the Clan Wolf intro. Lol I guess you know where my loyalties lay when I was playing...

  • same here! haha XD

  • man i remember being scared of this when i was like 4

  • Oh, my... As a little girl, I never realized that the Jade falcon was holding a Katana...

I always thought of it as a parrot.

  • haha wow I never noticed that either

  • They're about as good as parrots,

Clan Wolf, Sons of Kerensky forever.

  • You do know the Wolves are broken and half the Clan is in exile while the other half was only saved from Absorbtion and shadow-ruled by Jade Falcon, quiaff?

  • And, though I may be panned by some for bringing up Dark Age (I like it, somewhat, myself), the Falcons are the only clan poised to invade the Inner Sphere again.

  • Aye, I'm not all that adverse to Dark Age myself, as much as I say at times here, and was astrong follower of the Jade Falcons in the original BattleTech but I cheer for the Free Worlds League in Dark Age now, but still hope the Falcons achieve their conquest of the Inner Sphere - they are the most formidable Clan in that continuation, after all and I wouldn't mind seing Aidan Pryde, Khan Marthe Pryde and Diana Pryde's legacy of capturing Terra (as set out in Bob Thurstons series) be reality.

  • Well, of course- who else would be better to dominate the Inner Sphere as it currently stands in the Dark Age? Clan Wolf's fractured beyond repair, and Sea Fox can't hope to succeed in a foray towards the Inner Sphere. The Falcons are the only ones who're trying, aside from Anastasia's Wolf Hunters.

  • Aye, ever since Marthe Pryde became Khan some 70 years ago, the Falcons rose to the top of the Crusader cause, but they could just as easily go the way of the Smoke Jaguars, if they aren't careful.

  • i liked the falcons until Malvina was introduced. i would have preffered her honorable brother, Alexs, over her

  • Ah, see, I'm a fan of the original Jade Falcon Warriors - Joanna, Marthe Pryde, Aidan Pryde, Diana Pryde, the 'Tech Nomad and Tyle (aka 'Horse'). I'd have loved Bob Thurston to continue the legacy with Naiad, she seemed cute and cool, even while still in the infant sibko!

  • Naiad, eh? I've heard relatively little about her...

  • That's because she only appears in the one book "Falcon Rising", the last in the Twilight of the Clans series, authored by Robert Thurston.

  • Yes, except I do not like the Falcons in the Dark Age series much. They were best in the original BattleTech and I find myself cheering for the FWL and (as ever) Snow Ravens.

  • Do the Snow Ravens even exist in the Dark Age? The only Clans I'm aware of that survive are Ghost Bear (as Rasalhague), Sea Fox, Jade Falcon and the broken remnants of Wolf.

  • They do, but they are rarely mentioned in the new series, much like the original BattleTech. They are more of a behind-the-scenes Clan that I am hoping will one day have a storyline all for themselves.

  • I think Robert Thurston wrote Jade Falcon 2 trilogies.

  • He did, I have been sying that almost whenever I have mentioned the trilogy in posts.

  • Dark Age is just shite.

  • @WhiteMageMentality i used to play as the jade falcons all the time. the are my favorite

  • @WhiteMageMentality After how many times they said falcon you still thought parrot? :P

  • I remember when I played this game with my brother, he was loyal to jade falcon, while I was a true wolf. talk about sibling rivalry! lol

  • I am loyal to Steel Viper, but while Wolf wasn't exactly our ally, Jade Falcon was our bitter rival.

I will always side with Wolf.

  • I am loyal to the Ghost Bear, striking silently and swiftly annihilating all in our path.

  • I was diamond shark. But then became a falcon after being captured. Convert or die.

  • Diamond Shark? Not sure why you would even want that Clan, when the Snow Ravens are just waiting and watching to spring from the shadows

  • @wolfleader17 i was i falcon myself, but i did play as the wolfs from time to time. i still own the original disc and mercenaries

  • @wolfleader17 haha, By you saying this, You have passage to join us in Eve Online. I have restarted Clan Wolf in there. Enlightenment is our gift.

  • @wolfleader17 2 brothers belonging to different clans

  • Cool. :)

  • Madcat !

  • Yes from Mech3, but back then it was Timberwolf variant. ^_^

  • Mad Cat is the Inner Sphere designation for what the Clans called the Timber Wolf. They aren't separate variants per se.

  • how did u get this off of the Mech2 CD?

  • We will retake what is ours by might.

  • its right not might..

we will retake what is ours by right

  • I just found that there was always something sinister about Jade Falcon, unlike Clan Wolf. Even though, both of them were Clans, pitted against the Inner Sphere.

  • Actually for a long time Clan Wolf stood for protecting the Inner Sphere, which is why they sent some of there best as secret agents into the IS and founded the Wolf's Dragoons.

But in 3050 when so many of Clan's were pitted towards dominating the IS in the name of the Star Leauge that Clan Wolf was forced to yield. But now they are at war with the Falcons, to make sure they protect Terra as was intended by Kerensky when he founded the Exodus.

  • know what would be fucking awesome? if they made MW2 for newer operating systems like my new computer, that would be pure awesomeness

  • NOSTALGIA

    FUCKING

    EXPLOSION

  • I know right?

    It's so awesome

  • Similiar to why Ghost Bear is unique in their use of the Kodiak. The longer it's around the more likely it is for other clans to pick it up.

  • i thought certain clans had certain mechs why do they all have madcat?

  • Not quite. Certain clans are KNOWN for certain mechs, but in Clan Society, you fight for keeps. Enemies develop a better mech? Trial of possession for the plans. The Timberwolf's a mech that's been around for a while. Most of the clans produce them. However, it's a "signiture" mech for clan wolf, that built it in the first place.

  • aahhhh like in the newer ones if u damage the mech in the right spot so they can take it like blow off the leg we take it against both arms and missles and a leg

  • Something like that.

It'd be more a case of "I'm Mechwarrior Ted of the Wolves, we claim your mech deign. Who's going to stop me?"

"I will, mechwarrior Steven of the Jade Falcons. You suck Ted, you risk nothing!".

"Well, I'll offer this nice matching table set, and what remains of my mech if you win".

"Well, alright. Winner gets the prize".

  • Um, no. The only production facilites are located on Strana Mechty under Wolf control and in Arc Royal under WiE control. Of note that the Strana Mechty factory may have fallen due to the insanity that is going on right now in the Homeworlds

  • Huh? What're you referring to?

I seriously doubt that other clan's wouldn't re-engineer their factories to produce a nice mech.

Insanity? As far as I'm concerned, mechwarrior ended with the Jihad and Devlin Stone. This Dark Age crap that Wizkids is churning out... Yech.

  • Still sends a shiver down my spine. Maximum score.

  • I just have to respond to your comment because your name is Arkanoid, and that may be the only game I love more than MW2 :-D

  • Ah this takes me back. God the voice acting and writing in this game was excellent. I can easily sense the cold, ruthless attitude of the Jade Falcons just by hearing her speak.

  • what she said, from the rememberence... We are Jade Falcon, great among the Clans... We are warriors that fight with the strength of the falcon's claw and ascend to the heavens on the wings of the same. We remember with the clarity of falcon sight the words of Kerensky... Through the smoke of time he speaks to us, his chosen, and urges us onward with the promise of Eden. We will retake what is ours by right, that Shining jewel, Terra!

  • Not the vastness of space, nor the Wolf's obstinate howl will stay us from our righteous goal. We are Crusaders and will trample all who stand in our way!

  • and get crushed by the expert Clan Wolf. nice going xD

  • yeah and Clan Wolf almost vanquised becouse of the losses :-)

  • yeah, 'almost'. Clan Wolf is still here! What are you doing, wanking us off? xD

common, you can do better than that! =P

  • Nope, we just kicked the Vipers ass so they wont stop until clanspace. The next one will be you Wolves. And funny that the Hells Horses (oh comeooon who they are?) occupied couple of Wolf worlds in IS. :D

  • ?the real clan Wolf died limping foot and all the pathetic left overs shouldnt be considered Clan Wolf to much honor comes from that name and this is coming from a falcon

  • the clan is still here... what are you doing?

  • if you mean Clan Jade Wolf then no there wish to be called Clan Wolf should have not gone threw

  • you're talking out of your ass. I can't understand your sentence because it's not constructed properly.

Clan Wolf is Clan Wolf. Clan Jade bird-shit is Clan Jade bird-shit. I don't care. Either way, you need to get your facts straight. Might I suggest wikipedia?

  • hmmm it must be before your time then bc after the invasion stop the ilkhan knew that the clans wanted to go back and continue the invasion but threw some means he had jade falcon and wolf fight in the end wolf formed two wolf in exile and wolf the wolf were week anough and absorbed into JF but somewhat seperate called Jade wolf this didnt last long after a review they denied them but then wolf ask for a trial and they won there new name as Clan wolf you need to get you facts strait
