  • "there was no memorial".....I am speechless

  • Does anything EVER happen to the bastards who 'hunt' down and literally destroy the lives of such men? Or it is just a case of the devil taking care of his own. What happened to Mr. Turing is unforgivable.

  • : he mentions intercrural sex, and mutual masturbation, but i can't understand the first one.

  • : what are the answers this guy gives afnter the question in 2:55 is stated?

  • Turing was a well known atheist. Something he was despised for by the SH*THOLE called the catholic church. Truly unfortunate it couldn't have been bombed out existence during the war.

  • Britain should hold its head in shame...this great man should have the biggest statue in Parliament Square.Much much much more important than Churchill. If you don't agree- just read a bit more.

  • Adam and Steve did you come up with that by your self.

  • He was one of the great minds of all time.Without him we would all be wearing swastikas.Disgusting how he was repaid for is services to the nation.

  • There are many...Usually outcast because of discrimination against aspergers and autism

  • He did so much for us and they did so little for him. We need more Alan Turings.

  • What a terrible end for such a great man.

  • Thank you for posting this...in your last video you referenced you avatar and I had no clue as to whose picture it was...it clears a lot of reference matters up. Your stances though, in my view, have never been in question.

I love your work, please, keep doing what you do very well...

    and PS...

I subscribed to you before I subscribed to Thunderf00t...so you have at least one original subscriber. ;-)

  • @allenrobinson2012 Who's suggesting they're laughing at him? Watch the clip (when you have time, ofcourse)- and you might see what I mean.

  • When those two creepy old geezers relay their rather nasty stories- the sinister laughter that follows each chills me to my core. see 2:55 and 4:30

  • I wonder what he'd think of the computers we're using now

  • So Mr. Turing, your greatest fear was you were afraid that because you thought that machines could think, and you were gay, that it would discredit your work?

Protip: You are probably using a computer to read this.

(RIP Alan Turing, and what a well earned rest it is.)

  • Turing was a great, great man. If it wasn't for his brilliance, we would all be speaking German right now.....and not by choice. It's amazing how ungreatful and ignorant some people are. Thanks you, Mr. Turing for all you did.

  • Reading some of the comments here it is obvious that the prejudices that led to the torture of Alan Turing by the English government still exist. While it is encouraging to read all of the positive comments, I suspect Turing's genius appeals to a more refined and educated audience; If the general public were aware of this tragedy I'm afraid we would see alot more ignorance and hate. This a tragedy that Euripides could not have imagined.

  • It is nothing less than horrifying that a government, in a so called civilized society, would be capable of inflicting this type of punishment on a man for the "crime" of homosexuality. How utterly demeaning. When one considers the heroic efforts of Turing during the war to protect the same country that would torture him for nothing other than his nature, this saga is unbelievably tragic and sad. Shame on England!

  • Idiots who speak, and im betting u also embody these beliefs with your actions, in parallel with u are the mold of men who killed this man! Have some f-ing taste, or at least a nuance of class, or kill urself like this genius im instinctively certain u take 4 granted!

  • eezyrida, i dont think ive ever read a more ignorant comment on the internet to date...its ironic though, Turing's work proves there has to be idiots like you no matter how many intelligent persons are on this planet! You are the uncertainty that he sought to remove from human reality as well as our understanding of our short time we have 'here'. (wait for the rest in my following text...maybe you will enlighten yourself for once... but i doubt it, extensively!)

  • what a fag

  • @backchodes Without that "fag" you'd be a slave of the Nazis. Be grateful for that.

  • @backchodes Be grateful for that "fag" His breaking the German code meant supplies got through a vicious U-boat screen to the Allied soldiers. Soldiers without bullets, or whose troop ships are sunk, are kept from winning wars.

  • I know this is mere fantasy. But imagine had Alan not taken his own life. And lived to say his 80's. And died some time in the 1990's. He would have seen the realisation of his dream. What with the begining of the .com era. And IBM, Microsoft, Apple, broadband. Basically the very technology we have now. It would have been like Darwin witnessing the discovery of DNA. Such a shame he took his own life.

    RIP Alan

  • Very intresting video about a very great man. He was well aware that picking young men up off the street could loose him his security clearance in peacetime. He had thought in a way apart from the rest of us all his life and wasn't easily bullied so who are we to say why he died except that he had come to a conclusion through a thought process we can't follow?

  • @Frege100 First suicide is a form of selfishness.

    Turing was self destructive.

He intentionally placed himself in harms way.

Brilliance is no protection from the mad self.

  • @jonesgerard obviously you have never felt despair to that point. Oh and heterosexuals tend to pick up young women but never got made to take hormones of the opposite sex?! Most homosexuals of these times had not much option of finding a partner except by doing it this way. He was a good man with his heart in the right place, he made mistakes but he was treated very badly . If it was not for him we would have lost the war.

  • @fenric71 Turing was reckless and self destructive.

He lived in dangerous times, a loose cannon with knowledge of state secrets living a reckless life brought him to his end.

  • @jonesgerard He was a far better man than you will ever be and achieved far more with his life. You are just another Christian homophobe that will die and be forgotten.

  • WillShakespeare2007 .... WELL SAID...Thank you

  • "Jones u're fucking MAD! he didnt self inject female estrogen his government did it to him and he was tortured everyday because of this. You would kill yourself too if you got injected with not only homosexuality but also every ideal you hate, if you dont have something to add, then just don't add it! STUPID ! People like you are why men like Turing, not to mention all other humans, are exploited and have any negative mental issues what so ever, not to mention are why this man killed himself

  • @monckwads

Jonesgerard is a troll. He's getting off on offending people with his obviously calculated and obnoxious remarks. It's easy to pontificate in a forum such as this, and at the risk of doing so I'll say that trolls like jonesgerard care nothing for an actual intellectual exchange but care more for sensationalist remarks that get everyone in a flap.

Damn. A three week old comment. I always seem to miss the action.

  • @itsCasimir The Strange Life and Death of Dr Turing, a Horizon programme, from 1992 I think. Don't know where to get a copy.

  • Wonderful piece.

Turing is the greatest Brit of modern times who arguably played a major role in winning the war.

After the war, after he had served his purpose, he was rewarded by being hounded to death by his fellow Englishmen.

    What a tragedy.

  • Thank you for posting this video.

  • This is quite an odd sensation. i think I'm in love with somebody dead since almost 60 years ago...

  • @slyckafin O___O

  • Murder by Morality....Religious morality.....and it still occurs today!!! BAN all religion outside peoples heads!!!

  • how worth he is if he is gay?

  • @renatoavatarian What do you mean?

  • @renatoavatarian What are you on about? "How worth he is if he is gay?" Aside from the vaguely comprehensible use of English, the man was a hero. He was a mathematical genius, who devoted years of his life to fighting the Nazis in the service of the British Government. You think its okay to treat a national hero in that way? Or are gay people subhuman to you?

  • @disamjisa All right All Right ...u got me!! I was drunk when I wrote that shit off!! what I meant was..."what good is he for if he is gay?" lol...Much better now? well...I didn´t mean to be rude..!! In fact I don´t share sympathy for the gay community because they never let me in peace!! They don´t respect my both space and privacy..that´s why I loathe them!! However he fella above is a real deal!! very smart and he really kicks ass!! Got it now? take care

  • @renatoavatarian He was a hero, and was tortured and mutilated because of was he was. If the government has not attacked solely on the basis of being gay, it would not be an issue.

My experience of people who say things "They don´t respect my both space and privacy" is what they actually don't like is gay people engaging in normal displays of affection an sexual expression. How dare a gay person have a photo of their partner on their desk, how dare they aspire to marry and lead normal lives.

  • This man deserves a million times more recognition than thedrunk war-monger Churchill (just read more of the stuff not written by himself if you don't agree). Estimates are that Turing's work shortened the war by 2 years & the add on his genius to ongoing science, which even now is proving to be massive,

  • A brilliant mind murdered by his society.

He could have advanced computer sciene and math.

If they only let him live and be as gay as he wants to be.

I am allways very annoyed when the spokesmen of the public think they have a word of the individual's sexuality. May that be expresident Clinton or Alan Turing. Or the pope declaring contraception evil. It makes me rage.

  • mishima1970: Many thanks for posting this video. This, along with your ones on kamikaze pilots and the Jonestown massacre, must be the best vids on Youtube. Please keep them coming!

  • There is a memorial to him in the form of a bronze statue sitting on a bench with plack in Sackville park in Manchester's gay village. There is also a road named after him in the same city.
