well LouDawg808, Youtube resizes videos to 320x240, so adding 1024x720 videos ( = 720p = HD ) to youtube would be pointless or any other resolution size wich gives you better quallity but adding &fmt=18 to the url wil encoding it to 480x360 SO... encoding it to 480x360 or anything higher will make your video available in high quality, atleast better then 320x240. You can also press on the link "watch in high quality" but not every video has this option so you could try adding &fmt=18
Yep, you're absolutely right. 720p HD. All you need to do is add &fmt=18 to the URL.
Otherwise the resolution is about 320x140. You can see the native resolution by clicking the second icon from the right on the control bar. This video looks great full-screen using the code. The codec used to compress it wasn't the greatest though, so there are a lot of artifacts that make the video look poor.
There are ways of improving or breaking the YouTube standard compression boundarys. You can get alot higher fidelity from the YouTube player (Check my video to see) by adjusting the audio and video bitrate to a total of 350KPBS and resolution of 640X480 or above.

killedkenny07 3 years ago
This is far from HD you just uploaded the already compressed HD file, and YouTube completely destroyed it. You have to give the raw file.
Missle43 3 years ago 3

You will not get 720p with &fmt=18, but 480x360 500kb/s H.264 with +/- 128kb/s AAC+ stereo ;).
