  • HELL YEAH! Awesome cover guys!

  • love it...

  • Damn I love this....I love the intro and the secret language. Very, very good keep it up! Im a big fan, would love to see Sample, Ya Mar, Piper, Simple, ahh too many to name

  • I think possum is a cover that phish does of an older bluegrass number

  • @napydred No its a song from a previous member of the band, Jeff Holdsworth

  • not bad dude, but generally you want to play this song in A minor (like phish does) not b flat. Its cool, not a big deal. Your playing hand is a little shakey and it sounds like counting crows mixed with fall out boy. And don't forget that elton john was ENGLISH!

  • This is just wonderful.

  • Loved it. Well done guys! I'm going to use your version as a templete for me and my picking partner to copy. I hope it is half as good as yours. :)

  • this is great!

  • Dude you play there songs perfectly..love the secret language

  • Please play lot on this fall tour, you'd blow people away and make new fans at every show you went to. Then maybe go on a little post-Phish tour, well, tour. For this video, my favorite part is 0:26 to 5:34 :). The guitars working together and you guys never skipping the vocal harmonies like most Phish covers, spectacular! Oh, and how about putting some originals with both of you playing up? It'd be great to see/hear. Much love, SK.

  • @MarcoGreenberg

    Hi SK,

David forwarded me the very supportive comments you have posted on a few of the Handmade Groove vids. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on what we do, but mostly, we appreciate you listening and enjoying!! Makes my day to know something we have played has reached someone else in a positive light. We are hoping to get around ridiculous schedules and get some more songs posted soon. Thanks so much!! Stay tuned, Hugh - Handmade Groove

  • yes!!! very nice, love the simpsons reference!!!

  • Funny with the Simpson intro-- If you liked this one check out thirdwheelsoundproduction Mike howard as well.......

  • killed it!

  • groovy!!!!

  • Well done fellas.

  • this is a great rendition of posssuuuummmm posssuuuummm posssuuummmm PPOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSUMMMMMMMMM!

  • This is just great.

  • absolutly amazing.... sick solo

  • this is really good, i loved the solo, is that improvised?

  • I'm glad you liked it! For better or for worse, the solo was improvised.

  • how do you do that, man it would be awesome if you guys did something outlining your technique and notes your hitting

  • We just feel it out. Dave's soloing in the moment has amazed me since the day we first met. All I try to do is create a free-form bottom behind it and catch and change with his energy. Or I change mine and let him pick up and follow. We will tip each other to major changes between key and tempo that are coming, but mostly, it is just open up and try to feel where he is coming from and vice versa.

    Thanks for checking. Stay tuned!!

  • @sneakypower For better or worse? what? FOR BETTER! I love your style, to me it's like Phish meets GDead meets Allmand meets something that's your very own :). And the meshing of your two tones combined makes it sound complete, many times such duos are screaming for an acoustic bassist, but you guys, there is nothing that sounds missing! MAKE MORE PLEASE! MANY MORE!

  • @MarcoGreenberg You are very kind. Thanks for sharing your kind feelings about our videos. It is totally our pleasure! Keep in touch,

    David

  • I GOT THE 51ST STAR WOOOOO!

  • Who would like to send us 52 dollars?? Any takers??

    Stay tuned!!! Hugh, Handmade Groove

  • haha suuuuuuure

  • I GOT THE 50th FIVE STAR! WOOOOO!

    haha

  • Who would like to be the 51st? Any takers? Anyone?

  • sickest acoustic version I have seen of this song. Trey would be jealous.

  • Trey would scoff at this, but the compliment is appreciated! Keep in touch.

    David

  • no man he's right

    this is sick!

  • Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind words about our version of possum! While i agree with Dave about Trey being jealous, not, I am blown away at the comparison. We do appreciate the support! Best to ya!!

Stay tuned, Hugh - Handmade Groove

  • the solo reminds me of jerrys acoustic sound

excellent cover of a great song, keep it up guys

btw phellow phans merriweather sold out like 3 mins after they went on sale. how is that possible?

  • Ahhh! So good!

  • I have the same shirt as the guy on the left

  • Alpine Valley 2003, baby!

  • That was rather clever and neat, the execution of the two-guitar arrangement and that theme snuck in at the start.

  • That simpsons part was genius lol. Fantastic song guys!

  • You guys are incredible. There are no words.

  • Isn't incredible a word? ;P

  • Not since August of 2007. You don't read the paper very much do you?

  • lol

  • YOU BROUGHT THEM BACK SNEAKY POWER!

Where are you located and do you plan to attend?

  • Ha!! That's a great comment. Never underestimate the power of the groove!!! LOL!! We are in Tucson and hope to catch up to their tour (whatever that may be) for sure. Maybe we'll see you along the way!! Thanks for your kind words of support. We appreciate it!!

  • Perfection. I feel like im useless not being able to play the guitar like that :[

  • you're not alone.

  • Awesome guys! Is there a certain mode or scale that the solo is done in? I know it is a 12-bar style in E, but there are a lot of notes out of the traditional E blues scale, any tips on lead work to get all that color in there? Thanks!

  • E major or minor pentatonic/ Blues scale (min pentatonic with a b5 added) will work over the E, depending on the sound you're going for...

Also E Myxolydian (A major from E to E). I'm sure I use all 3 of those. For the changes I usually switch to the major pentatonic that corresponds to the name of the chord (ie. B Maj pentatonic over the B, etc.)

  • Thanks!

  • movin to tucson lets jam

  • Let's do it. Bring a bassist, keyboardist and a drummer with you, LOL. Contact me when you get here!

  • fine then mr. dont use me

  • Pepe,

Are you checkin' up on the secret life of Mr. Harris? I hope you're liking some of this stuff!

  • Awesome! You guys looked like you were having fun on that one! I love them all! Keep em' coming!

  • hey there guys! i've now watched every one of your video posts so far... all amazing! the "simpsons/ DOH!" tickle at the start is pure genius! i LOVE it! great work! and the originals are fantastic~ would love to see and hear more of those. also, any non-acoustic stuff?

  • he really does!!

  • Who does? Vocals or guitar?

  • Vocals in my opinion. It's the inflection on the words, the little high parts tossed in. You guys rock.

  • I was referring to the vocals at times (especially in this song). All your guys' videos are awesome! you need to make your way down to dusty el paso! ... not too far from tucson!! do you all have any originals posted on youtube?

  • Hey there jd85

Thank you for your kinds words I am glad that you enjoying Handmade Groove. El Paso is not too far - If you can suggest a club that promotes our kind of stuff we'll look into it.

Green Light Meteor and Bottle of Blues are originals on youtube. Click on sneakypower to get to them.

  • It's probably been said before, but damned if i don't say it again... You guys NAILED that song, and phish's jammy vibe. Well Done. Keep It Mellow Fellows.

  • In true Phish style, w a Simpsons tease and BOOM or GO or whatever they screamed back in the early 90's 1993 I believe it began. That was great! The only thing lacking is the great 4 way lightshow

  • You guys are fantastic! When are you hittin' the road? We'd love to see you in Vancouver.

  • Hey man!!

We'd love to play Canada!! We'll let you know if we head that way!!

Thanks for the kind words of support.

    Best, Hugh

Thanks for hanging with us, as always!! Hope you are well.

    Best, Hugh

  • EXCELLENT! In true Phish spirit breaking into the simpsons!

  • My favorite phish song ever and it only took me about 19 shows before I finally saw them play it live. Not sure when it was exactly(I think '95 or '96) but I do know it was Noblesville, IN(Deer Creek) and they performed back to back nights. You guys do a great rendition.

  • you guys need to get into a recording studio, stat! great work! :)

  • well done. thanks guys.

  • Gnarly jam guys. Keep up the grooves, I'll keep watching

  • you guys rock

how about a little tab action

  • Nice job fellas. Could you tell me how you play the main riff in E. I know theres the hammer on the Ab note, and a quick A, but after that I'm clueless.

And I'm also thinking of knocking over a convenience store to afford a D35 like yours, David. kudos, bravo, thank you for sharing in the groove! I just filmed a very absurd response video to this one, and as soon as youtube can get it Live, I'll send you the link. 10 stars.
