  • God, even though I know he survived, when they turn him over, by heart seems to start to rip itself into shreds. I never cry, but I can feel the unbearable pain in my heart :'(

It's like my heart is burning itself.. Oh my gosh, I've got it! that what Moraiarty meant, he broke the 4th wall! He wasn't talking to Sherlock, he was talking to the viewers!

    That evil maniac.

  • God this made me shake so badly. Frickin. Martin is.. just... perfect. This whole thing was just so beautiful and heartbreaking. UGH why did it have to be so good.

  • this is such brilliant filming, music, acting, everything.... absolutely stunning and horrific.

  • 0:26 why is the floor chalked?!?! OMG

  • IT'S OK! 0:21!!!!

THERE WAS A HAY BALE THERE!

  • I watched the episode dubbed in Spanish and my heart broke in a million pieces; now I´ve watched it in English and the feeling is even worse, I just had left with a hole in my chest. The last minutes of that episode are the saddest (and most amazing) I´ve seen in a very long time. What a great actor is Martin, as well as Benedict.

  • His face when they turn him over is so beautiful. He's just staring with those glassy eyes. The eyes are what make me cry every time.

  • The music in this is haunting...

  • Even though I've read a little about "The Final Problem" and all that follow this, I was like "No... no... NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :'(

  • I NEED SEASON 3

    LIKE NOW!!!!!!

  • There was no ambulance...? They just rolled him away. Did they just turn a corner to a random hospital, or? WHERE did they take Sherlock?

  • @Kalairian He was literally AT the hospital. He jumped off of Bart's Hospital rooftop, so no need for an ambulance if you're right there.

  • @MsDanioDanio Aaaah. -tabs nose- Thank you! :)

  • @MsDanioDanio I've wondered for a while now how the doctors got there so quick :P

  • @Kalairian The building Sherlock jumped from was the St Bart's Hospital. So no need for an ambulance.

  • Aw, his little 'Jesus...no...' sounds so broken. Poor John.

Martin Freeman really earned his acting stripes in this episode.

  • Martin Freeman. Give him all the Baftas. All of them. (Except the ones you're giving to Benedict Cumberbatch)

  • i am crying! :'(

  • God I wish I could lipread. What does John say at 0:18?

  • @EllenRebecca3 I saw 'I know the guy' - good?

  • @vampirelovewerewolf Yeah, that'll do. :-)

  • @EllenRebecca3 I think he says something along the lines of "I'm okay" to the people holding his elbows since he collapsed. Also, his face. Is so.. broken. Just saying.

  • Is it wrong that I pause at 00:14, flip my screen, and stare into Benedict's lifeless eyes? I find it so sexy...

  • Why is Martin such an amazing actor? ;A; He makes this scene so heart wrenching. ;~;

  • Does anyone here think that BENEDICT as well as Martin deserves a Bafta?!?! I mean, Martin no doubt deserves a Bafta, but Benedict's is long past due. Anyone agree?

  • this scene actually broke my heart...martin freeman is unbelievably talented!

  • Why is the music so amazing and perfect?

  • 00:12 That's the mark of a great actor....Benedict's eyes look LIFELESS So sad......

  • What amazes me about Martin Freeman here is how he manages to look so despairingly empty. Just empty. It breaks my heart.

  • Gah, Sherlock's eyes are opeeen! The expression in them is so sad!

  • I know it's highly irrelevant and a bit out of context, but I've only just realised his scarf, is in fact, stripey...

  • @slightlyinsaneFTW That's a different scarf to the first we saw, the original got really worn out I think so they changed it. Either that or, something to do with a minor problem in Sherlock's plan ... I don't want to think it's a mistake on behalf of wardrobe.

  • @EllenRebecca3 No, neither do I...

  • The thing that hits me hard about this scene is Sherlock's beautiful curly hair (dare I say his 'locks') being sticky with blood. Is that weird?

I also think Martin is absolutely superb in this scene. You can see the life being drained from him. The 2nd BAFTA is on the way I think.

  • if you look at the at 0:28 you can see there's like a piece of the street which is not like the whole street... i don't have the words to explain, i'm french :( but the place where john is standing, surrounded by the two blue shirts, seems like it's been added to the street..

  • @imcitizenginsburg Now that you mention it, It's actually kind of strange.

It just might be an important clue :)

  • Martin Freeman deserves every award. Ever.

  • Was I the only person who didn't cry here? (or anywhere, for that matter)

    God, I feel like Sherlock...

  • @slightlyinsaneFTW No you're not :p

But it doesn't mean this scene wasn't heartbreaking

  • @LeFouLutin True. I just don't cry at TV shows... (or anything fictional, for that matter)

  • Okay I'm really hoping that there will be a scene in Series 3 where we get to see how Sherlock felt (assuming he was conscious/not severely injured) during this ordeal. I mean seeing how emotional he was while saying goodbye to John it must have been hard to experience John's reaction, hearing him saying "Oh, God no..." etc and seeing him practically faint at the sight of all the blood and such. I want a shot of Sherlock and Molly hiding around the corner watching John or something.

  • Flawless

  • When Season 3 comes out and John and Sherlock reunite it better be every bit as tear-jerking that this scene was--no, even more than that. This shows depicts the most beautiful friendship between two men that I have ever seen in my life, and so they deserve a beautiful moment when John realizes Sherlock is alive and Sherlock doesn't have to act like he's dead to his best friend anymore. I really hope the writers of the show know that too...

  • no matter how many times i watch,it is still believable that he is dead. Definitely the best episode of the series, superbly brilliant acting as always by cumberbatch and freeman and definitely the best telly i have seen in a few years :D

  • Why do i do this too myself? So emotional!

  • 0:27 Where did all the blood go? O.O

  • HOLY HELL!

Pause at 0:13.... you'll see that the body on the ground is dressed in a dark purple shirt.

Then open up the "goodbye, john" vid by the same user and pause at 0:19. you'll notice that the person falling is dressed in a light coloured shirt!

    clue?

by the way, thank you so much for all the little snippets, MsSherLocked.

  • I think the music at this part just makes it all the more heart-wrenching. For me at least. I knew he'd live but I still sobbed my heart out.

  • This scene kills me every time. There's something really horrifying about Sherlock's hair drenched in all that (fake) blood.

    0.02- 0.03

    *Sob*

  • @Swinglish200 Its the same with me. I thought i was being weird but it makes sense

  • "Jesus, no..." Oh my, I thought I wasn't going to cry this time...

  • WAAAHHHHHHH kitty come here for a hug!

  • Martin Freeman is really amazing in this scene...

  • Jesus....I hate this....my heart pounds for him every time I see this......wahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • :(
