Saw them last month in D.C.  Didn't sing this song, but George did "500 Miles" and he was awesome! I too get very morose when I hear this song and think of all the lives lost in wars that solve little. Christmas 1915 happened again in almost every Christmas since then, also. Sadly, the lives continue to be lost at Christmas and every other day. When will we ever learn. This is such a beautiful song, and no one does it better than CT.

This is from CEltic Tnunder, and they filmed a concert at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland, and sold a DVD of it, but not all of the songs were on it, and this is one of them, so not many people have heard it-unless they went to the concert.

ah, no. this song is called "Christmas 1915" and it's about a battle of WWI that stopped on Christmas day and a German soldier began to sing "silent night" in his own language. After that, both sides left their trenches and spent the day in peace showing photos, telling stories of home, drinking some wine and lighting up a few smokes. sadly, duty required that they begin fighting again the next day, and new friends (sort of) are forced to kill each other. so sad, but touching.
