Stumbled accross this vid quite by chance. If you're really struggling to hear your TV and you don't want to create a noise problem for those who can hear normally, there is a system you can buy that works exactly the same as the ones you find in banks etc, where the cashier is behind glass and you see the T symbol to switch you hearing aid to the telephone setting. If I remember correctly, a small microphone sits in front of the TV and transmits the sound to an induction coil under the carpet.
It's definitely not from nowhere.. russel- you are as charming as you can get these days, and if I was close by i would helped you my self }{ -wisenode.
@wisenode funny thing about this it has happened three times to me. out of nowhere a woman has come up to me and grab me and just kiss the hell out of me. the last time it was friends of ours. we just come from church and had lunch, her husband and my wife were standing right there. 2 times before that I was in the air force a lot of years ago. it's silly thing I have no reason why. I just enjoyed it. once i was on kp I did kp some because of my mouth.
You are correct, sir. BIGGER and BETTER. Dolby Digital is not special, being adopted for digital audio for HDTV and DVD some time back, around 1996, actually, when DVD was developed. Now, SPDIF is the Digital Interface (DIF part) developed by Sony and Philips jointly, it works much the same as optical Toslink, or older Dolby RF, all deliver digital signal STREAM to a receiver. I bought my HDTV because it had speakers and a computer VGA connector, two important considerations I felt worth it
@MetallicBill I know what you're saying. I finally figured it out. It's all still the same. they just built it and call the jacks different names. Thanks for the information. Russell
@Ruussseelll For my own new HDTV, there are two settings only, and that is RAW digital data or PCM, and if I set to Raw, covering more data support, I only get a Dolby Digital signal showing up on my Technics receiver LCD display but it shows two channel decoding as Pro Logic surround, and that is confusing since the actual source is discrete 6 channel audio! It should pass through DD(Dolby) discrete since the TV tuner carries DD as it's encoded audio for Digital American TV standards
@Ruussseelll If you can't hear well, a type based medium like the Internet is good, I lost my hearing from exposure as well, though not deaf, mind you.
You need an 5.1 receiver with HDMI connections. That one cable carries the video and the sound. Listen you had to pay at least $1000. 00 or less for that TV. So Surround Sound is just another part of the price of having the latest technology.
@hsjfender I got surround sound when I invested in LaserDiscs, and it's always been the best way to enjoy movies at home, as was Laserdiscs prior to HD and DVD.
@hsjfender That's one cable with the video AND audio, you still need to separate and decode them, mostly you get the Hi Definition Video from said cable
you have 3 hdmi outlets.. HDMI transfers video & audio in HD. Use one of your hdmi's to send your audio to your new surround sound system. Good luck .. & i enjoyed your video. When i get old .. i wanna be just as awnry
