been doing this for one week now, you are right after you get over the mental barrier its easy to do. what really helped me is watching someone else do it to them selfs. its hard to watch a nurse do it to yourself the first time, so they gave me this instructional video. so basically its nothing now. doesnt hurt much at all. i am on my fragmin myself because docs found a blood clot in my leg
Thanks for the video. Much more helpful than what was explained (and demonstrated) by medical personnel... I suppose because they do it all the time, it's routine for them.
the lovenox and generic version have a safety shield thing that pops out when you press the plunger in after you have completed your shot. So you don't have to put the cap back on.
excellent tutorial! After watching your video I was able to give my first dose this morning... no drama... just got the job done. Particularly helpful was your discussion of overcoming the inhibition of stabbing yourself. Seeing you do it step by step was a confidence booster. Thanks so much for posting this video!
I have Factor 5 Leiden, and am on the shots for a blood clot in my arm (after an er treatment with an iv), but I was being keep in a hospital bed for 2 doses of antibiotics and 2 lovanox shots a day. I showed the doc I could give the shot to myself and take the antibotics on schedule, and begged him, to let me go home before I choked the woman I was sharing a room with..
I am currently on Lovenox, having been advised to alternate the side of the belly for the injections I noticed we about the same skin tone and you stating you have given yourself about 28 injections, how is it your belly is not bruised all over. My belly looks likes it has been used for a barefist punching bag. How do ytou avoid the bruising????
@jzderbig I have sent you a message with websites that contain information relevant to your inquiry.
In my opinion the experiential knowledge found within patient testimonials tis far more accessible than the clinical terms that clutter most pharmaceutical websites.
In all fairness though, I have sent a link to a site sponsored by Lovenox as well as a site which is driven almost entirely by patient participation.
Thank you this helped i have to take lovenox for my blood clots because i have a rare disease called budd chiari and i have to have a liver transplant i hope after a while they switch me over to coumedian though i don't like the shots.
I just finished my last shot today,,,I found it was easier for me to do quick stab then to insert the needle slowly in my stomach

Thanks mate :) Not that big a fan of needles myself, and had to take a shot to prevent blood clutter for surgery tomorrow.
Was looking at the needle for 3 hours, took a look at your video, then watched "funny cats" for 7 minutes to cheer up - and zip! Done!
Your video actually made me calm down enough to do it :)
