CROSSING THE BRIDGE is a wonderful documentary report of the diverse music culture in Istanbul. (Konstantinopel)
Fatih Akin is a great film director. To my way of thinking, he is the best in Germany in modern times! (Fatih ist zur Zeit der beste Regisseur in Deutschland!)
nonsense, Greeks only settled in some western coastal line for a while, and runned an empire for a while which never served anatolians instead saw them some people living in rural areas that are useful to pay taxes. Seljuk's were the first empire after the Hitties actually have been created in Anatolia, for Anatolians and finally get the Anatolian soil that occupied by greeks BACK. Turks(not the Turkics, actual Anatolians with Turkic culture), did not invade, gey got back what they actually own.
Your land has been given to you - you got it by stealling the land from Macedonia and Turkey! LONG LIVE TURKISH-MACEDONIAN FRIENDSHIP!!! Orient Expressions + Baba Zula are coming to Macedonia in 2 days! We will all enjoy! Can't wait! öptüm
why everybody talks like the invasions in the history are unfair? Than we all should go to the africa where the first human has found and live there. Cause after that point, every step of homo-sapiens was an invasion.
No problem be proud of whatever you like but I really don't understand how you compare the greatness of greek and turkish history and civilization to the opportunistic creation of Titos methodical imperialistic vision!
School didn't teach me anything on this subject. Not much is taught in the west regarding the Middle East, Turkey or the Ottomans for that matter. When it is, the views are often that of biased westerners/Christians. These supposed quotes of Van Lossow are warped. I believe you're harboring strong sentiments of the Byzantines having lost Constantinople to the Turks. Constantinople was weak and decaying in 1453. The Turks turned it into the spectacular place that it is today.

Did you know that AT LEAST 2 MILLION Christians were killed through genocide in Turkey, during World War I. These were civilians, born in Turkey, because historically, Turkey was Armenian and Greek. 1.5 MILLION Armenians were slaughtered, in addition to 500,000 Greeks!!! This is an abomination to man, and it is forgotten. What makes the Turkish genocide worse than Hitler's, was that the Germans admitted to it, and Turks wont. TO LEARN MORE, VISIT MY CHANNEL, IF YOU REALIZE THE TRUTH, ADD ME!!!!
Many people of different ethnic groups and religions lived in relative peace under the Ottoman Empire. This was unparalleled in any other empire. In the unrest of the early 1900's, Turks, Greeks and Armenians died as a result of civil conflict, not because there was a genocide. There wasn't one. Opportunist Armenian and Greek guerrillas who instigated conflicts caused their own to be 'driven away' - not to be systematically killed which is what the Nazis did. You neglected to mention this.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I did not neglect to mention it, I did not make it up like your government did. Forget what your school told you....it was propaganda, they all are here in the Balkans. I read outside foreign sources, not Greek or Armenian or Turkish sources, those would be slanted.

Quote by German Major General Otto Van Lossow, Germans were allies of the Turks.
Part 1: The Turks have embarked upon the "total extermination of the Armenians in Transcaucasia The aim of Turkish policy is, as I have reiterated, the taking of possession of Armenian districts and the extermination of the Armenians. Talaat's government wants to destroy all Armenians, not just in Turkey but also outside Turkey.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Part 2 of the Quote: "On the basis of all the reports and news coming to me here in Tiflis there hardly can be any doubt that the Turks systematically are aiming at the extermination of the few hundred thousand Armenians whom they left alive until now."
I can get more if you want, and if anyone would try to hide the crimes of the Turks, it would be their allies! Yet, even they couldnt hide it, it was too big.
And true. Anatolia did see Armenians and Greeks before the Turks but before them there were countless other civilizations who lived there. What happened to them?
This is not a platform for your racist and political views,
ITSKonstantinoupolis. It's a video about a great city in the world. Get a grip.
Look in history, the Greeks did not fight them.....they died out. The Hittites died in a civil war, when they ruined all of their own cities and farms. Anyhow, the others were central anatolian people, the Greeks in all honesty central anatolia was not the Greek homeland. It was western Anatolia, Thrace, and what is today Greece and Cyprus. The Greeks did not come and conquer their cities, slaughtering their people, they MADE the cities! The Turks destroyed, the Greeks created......
greeks might have settled there but they lost 2000 years ago against romans and they maid bigger cities like constantinopel. romans(byzantines) again lost their provinces in asia minor when the 4.crusade and the seldschuks appeared. the mongols than invaded and the seldschuks were broken.
THAN the ottomans came in 1304, out of the destroyed seldschuk sultanat. so you see the turks fought no wars and destroyed cities in order to live in asia minor
The Romans did take it, but the Romans became the Greeks! The Greeks until the 19th century often called themselves Romans! Even if the Romans PAID for Constantinople, the Greeks lived in it. Constantinople was in the middle of the Greek homeland, and most of its people were Greeks. The city that was turned into Constantinople was Greek. The Greeks lived in that city since its first day of existence, and they always will.
still you cant blame us for conquering constantinople and building it up to the much greater, bigger, exclusiver, beautifuller, powerfuller monopolis Istanbul!
And these greeks who lived in that city only were geografically 'greeks' those greeks you mean were in the south and stayed cultural and functional independent from the ottoman emperor.
turks always have been friendly to greeks until nationalism was coming to them
yes they were, they went exactly the same as modern Greeks, but they were. They were politically Romans, but Greeks. They all spoke Greek....get real.
And with such clearly racist views, you still pretend to be objective?
I liked one thing that you said though - that all the history textbooks in the Balkans are biased. History is created to fit the objectives of the current policy makers, not to reflect accurately on the past.
well what you said was true...before the turks cames people spoke greeks like the time of the movie called Troje....i give you correct that greeks lived there...no more like anatolians....but now it is the 21 century we got own land and you guys got own land...and let's enjoy the arts of each other...contantinople was greeks even that mosque were from greeks but turks have changed a bit by placing minnaret and changing paint and renovation
