Well, there is what society says is "manly" and what is "manly." I'd say preserving the dignity of life, as cheesy as that sounds, even in bugs etc... in a manifestation of what is really manly.

On the other hand you see the guy who illegally takes his 16 year old son to a strip club because "he's a man now!!" WTF???

If you are a person of any value with a penis you'll be manly. If you are a woman of any value, you'll be a lady. That's my take on it. Contrived is always conspicuous.

But I am sad to report I had no choice but to kill like 100 baby spiders when I accidentally stepped on a mamma spider and her sack split open on my welcome mat. I felt so bad afterwards but dear lord, they were everywhere! I did catch the mamma and throw her on the side of the house. I felt guilty that I had to kill all those baby spiders. :(

I agree people should think for themselves. I like drinking beer, but not because I want to be manly. But because I like it.Again to each their own.

I also like "girly" drinks...LOL.. When people tease me because I am drinking a "girly" drink I will look underneath the glass and say I see no vagina, and that I was not aware drinks have a gender. LOL..Glad to see there are intelligent people on youtube.

I don't like wine coolers and stuff like that, but "female" mixed drinks are fine. If a margarita or pina colada or whatever is too syrupy, that just means it needs more alcohol.

I think men emasculate themselves by going so far out of their way to appear manly. It's almost like anything that resembles a creature comfort is considered feminine. Real men like to be comfortable and don't care who has a problem with it.

Something else that bothers me is how much most guys work out. Men spend more time trying to look good than women do now.

I find the only beer I can stand to drink is the stuff that tastes watery (Busch light, Sapporo). On the other hand, I hate the "girly" drinks because they're way too sweet, almost syrupy. Sake is my booze of choice.

This comment here hits a very important point. Manly women (that means women who are daring, dominant, adventurous, aggresive, independent) are more attractive than stereotypical women (which can bring its own difficulties due to hypergamy). It's no tresspass whatsoever, just look at all the female warrior characters in contemporary SF/fantasy. Feminine men, however, are not likely to be attractive to women. I believe there's something natural to this assymetry.

I feel the same way! It's actually become a kind of fun thing for me when some large bulky manly man comes up to me pointing at my latte going "Hurr hurr... you know that's a girly drink." and just watching the confused looks on their faces when I go "So?"

Some beer is nice! Not at all every beer taste nice. But a whole lot of beers taste nice. But that is true to wines and champagnes as well...

I can understand why some people would like it when I don't. I get this when I talk about how much I love coffee (one person told me coffee tastes like burnt rubber to him).

That being said, I wonder how many people drink beer even though they don't like it simply for social acceptance?
