So who says you have to ride dirt to save a highside? Any idiot who rides should know to let off the throttle. If your dumb enough to keep the gas pinned while your bike is sliding you shouldn't ride........
@adrenalineboyzryan chopping the throttle during a rear end slide is only going to make you highside even faster... just point the front wheel in the direction you wanna go and use body position to even it out. Any idiot who rides does chop the throttle, and then is on the ground.
@3DFLYLOW Exactly what this rider did, stop giving it throttle.
As was observed earlier, he rides dirt. Any dirt rider worth his while has done this many many MANY times, and knows, almost instinctively, how to save it.
Brilliant lesson, stand on the pegs and your knees cushion the kick back when the tyre grips, fucking hard to get there quick but it certainly works well or were you kicked up?
The throttle sounded fairly smooth until the tire broke loose, I would blame too much lean angle for the amount of throttle due to bad body positioning, and pure luck to not highside.
Awesome save! Iv got the same bike, had plenty of moments like that where my arse is twitching like a rabbits nose! My advice? Michelin power pure, because anything less is toast in 1000 miles and shit in the wet
How does one save outta a highside situation? Looks like you stood up. Is that how? I'm about to start riding for the first time in my life ever and I wanna pack my brain with as much knowledge as possible. Thanks!
Ya but what if he didn't save it and went into a bike going the other way. I've seen it too many times at deals. I'm all for riding, I do a lot myself, but I do it safely. Something like that can kill you on the street but simply rash some leather on the track. Tracks are far more fun and safer than street riding anyway.
BTW, I was constructive. It said throttle control was the cause of that slip. He was on the gas too early and not smooth enough.
Troll. He's in full gear. He wasn't driving recklessly. He made a nice save of a bad situation. Is, "take it to the track" what you tell everyone that has a near miss??? Undoubtedly track days will make betters riders out of all of us. How about being constructive instead?
@bcbudz What if your at the track and some one lowsides into you trying to pass on the inside?? Also what about the time I crashed due to poor road surface that could not be seen at night?? Crashs happen. To tell people not to push it a little on the road is is like telling some one not to buy a home stereo because it might send them deaf... Stupid advice.
@MalliganTheUFO The difference is, on the track you accept that as a possibility, everyone is a willing participant, on the street others are not willing participants.
A highside is completely preventable, hitting a poor road surface at night is not.
People can push it on the road all they want, that's fine, but if they crash they shouldn't blame it on anything other than their own skills or lack their of and take full responsibility.
@bcbudz A highside is not completely avoidable. Poor road surface at night mid corner can cause this, therefore its only preventable by not riding a bike im affraid.
I do agree that if people want to push it they need to accept the responsibility though. But thats not the point here.
Try cornering in a higher gear so it is less likely you will spin the tire exiting the corner. Being in a low gear screaming out of the corner sounds cool and all, but you are more likely to end up high siding it.
or, maybe just go on a track day and not ride like a twat on public roads? people are always quick to suggest oil or something on the road, maybe it's just a case of riding outside your limits?
He didn't really hammer on the throttle, you can hear him maintain and then gradually increase throttle coming out of the corner. It was definitely the tires.
Dude...you blasted the throttle...what do you expect? It wasn't the tires that caused the near-highside. Buy Supercorsa's or 211 GP's if you're going to gun the throttle on exit.
very nice save their...hope u no to hang off the bike more if u wanna be gassin it up while leant over...lets the bike stand up more, and have more rubber on the road.
sheeeettt! I clinched just watching the thing. Nice save. Are the tires new or old? I guess those sport bikes are lite in the rear. wow. I'm going to watch it again.
im going to go with a lowside over a highside. looks to be more the rear tire kicking out and sending both to the pavement
