Well said. I liked what you said about there being an objective reality on some level. Even though we all have our own perceptions of the world around us and have some control over what we choose to think or do, we can't control the actions and thoughts of the people around us. I'll go watch part 2. :)
Well done. An excellent, enlightened take. It's regretable that even with scientific advances, there are still those who indoctrinate our children with falsehoods. Carl Sagan was 'spot on' in the 'Demon Haunted World' as are the works of Richard Dawkin. Keep at it! Steve, UK
Have you looked at all into the theory that early nomadic/primitive cultures stumbled upon psilocybin-containing mushrooms and incorporated them into their diet which resulted in mystical experiences from which the inspiration for language, art, spirituality, and religion sprang? If you ask me, it's a pretty good theory. There's a lot to be said for the idea that all religions began with shamans and shamanic/mystical experiences. The rest is history (unfortunately).
Typical tactic. Minimize the origin of religion to some primitive speculations in order to counter it with the speculations and interpretations of scientific data. What makes you think that people are more advanced today than they were thousands of years ago? What makes you think the propensity to cheat others in the name of politics and even scientific bias is less than it allegedly is in regard to religion?
Amongst other things the Monotheistic religions were and are used to dominate believers.
Religion is in decline in Western Europe because it currently has no influence upon politics and the powers that be, things are different in the US and hense there are more believers.

Yes. I would reference the "Ice Man," although I'm sure that is what you are talking about. (Definitely unfortunate.)

I am now drinking a Big K orange soda I found in the fridge, listening to Built to Spill and learning about Ionia. Happy Sunday night to me.

People are more advanced today because of our discoveries in technology; we understand our world and our universe more than ever before.
Cheating is cheating; what would lead you to think otherwise?

That is a good point pdoeman; never came it from that angle before.
I like how you think.

Great logical stuff. It's comforting to see others use their rational minds to process reality. Good job.
