One time -- not so very long ago...Green Slime creatures appeared from out of my nose and attempted to conquer the Earth with their diabolical and wretched plan of slimeliness. I wiped them out completely with a combination of Vicks flu relief, Dayquil, and a shitload of Kleenex.
@BoosieBoosieBoosie plot, A giant asteroid is heading toward Earth so some astronauts disembark from a nearby space station to blow it up. The mission is successful, and they return to the station unknowingly bringing back a gooey green substance that mutates into one-eyed tentacled monsters that feed off electricity. Soon the station is crawling with them, and people are being zapped left and right!
this movie scared the shit out of me when i was a kid...and like a dumbass everytime it came on as a special in the late seventies i watched it. does anyone remember that on easter, thanksgiving, and any other holiday they played monster movies like this? godzilla, king kong, might joe young, the thing with two heads.....
yep. i spent a whole lot nights watching movies like this one, and Dr. Phibes, and Santa Claus VS The Martians, while listening to Black Sabbath and imbibing lots of, um,...green slime ; )
they showed this at a 16mm film festival MY FRIST TIME ATTENDING and the audience wouldnt stop laughing I have it on video but had to leave because it was supposed ot be over
And while I'm at it, if you fast-forward to 0:54, the same stock music pops up in Bill Rebane's famously awful "The Giant Spider Invasion" (thanks to user-1147 on the IMDB for spotting this).
Just saw this over the weekend and have to admit it's entertaining in a cheesefest sort of way. About the best part is watching Richard Jaeckel and Robert Horton act like they're in "Ben Hur" or "Gone with the Wind".
"G" rating? I don't think so. It's unbelievable, but there are a couple of the special effects that are too intense for young kids.
i vaguely remember this....i kinda remember that it was somewhat campy or kinda silly, but made for the perfect late night (your mind is half-tired & your "B"movie toleration mental safeguards are down) "just before going to bed" sci-fi film,.......i've got to check this out again someday, since i forgot 90% of the movie.
I saw this when they first released it to TV in the early 70's and it was so much fun to see for an adolescent boy who had his own space station and astronauts in the arsenal of toys. When the creatures touched anyone it sounded like a powerline shorting out and their voice sounded like a demon possesed Flipper at SeaWorld. It was like kiddie cocaine coming off of the screen.
C'mon channels AMC (american movie classics) and TMC (turner movie classics), blow the dust off of this flick and put this movie on!!!! Preferably late at night.....with all the lights off in the living room..
The Green Slime is coming....to dvd! Check out the Warner Bros. Online store and look for it under Pre-Orders. Should be out later this month. I can't wait to get a copy for myself.
I had the opportunity to be in this movie as one of the men in a monster suit. I'm the slime over on the left with the sparkler on the tip of his tentacle.. Yea, that one.
Those creatures don't look green to me. Also, hearing the title I always figured it would be like the blob. Didn't know aliens or space travel would be involved.
I saw this movie in Bristol, Virginia in 1968 or 1969. The movie theatre went all out promoting this: I remember they sold green popcorn and green soda's and they gave out bumper stickers that read "Beware the Green Slime". They may have also given out buttons that said the same thing...or maybe I'm mixing that up with the "Pray for Rosemary's Baby" buttons that they were giving out when that movie opened across the street.
what is that movie where tht guy is eating a sandwich and the green slime lands on it i would wlso like to know whats tht movie where tht alien dresses up in a bear suit and scares tht little kid sleeping?
I can picture myself having a cocktail partry, my guests high as can be. The crash of the downstairs apartment building door being torn open! The sound of the Green Slime stumbling up the stairs to my unit from the floor below! Guests fleeing like lemmings! People jumping out windows, and the Green Slime "electrocuting" anyone who is in their path of DESTRUCTION! This is a NIGHTMARE beyond words! You can run but you can't hide! The Green Slime Is Coming!
If anyone knows where one can purchase an original Green Slime alien rubber suit please post info here! I want to slip into one and roam the city streets at night, putting fear into the hearts of all who see me - just to let them know that the Green Slime is coming and there is nowhere to hide!
This movie MUST be remastered for an official intergalactic DVD release, in original theatrical widescreen format, stereo, with the original theatrical movie trailer, DVD extras, outtakes, and interviews with surviving cast members and film crew! Get on it ASAP! The planet is waiting and it's long overdue!
it's DONE! WB just released a barew bones "on demand" disc for $25 that has an awesome 2.35:1 crisp transfer that reveals all the cheese the VHS doesn't. it looks better than many modern transfers.
i also grabbed a $20 copy of their "wild, wild planet" (watch the trailer for that one too!!!) for a total of $2.50 in shipping.
this is where ridley stole 80% of alien from besides planet of the vampires, night of the blood beast & it! the terror from beyond space.
i like the transfer of wild wild planet even better. it's a little less crisp than green slime, but i think it's just lower quality film stock. other than that, it's a great 16:9 transfer. it's not as funny as green slime, but it's a treat for all fans of SF & le bad cinema.
green slime is off the charts wacky fun though.
as to alien, don't forget: it! the terror from beyond space & night of the blood beast as material scott lifted, but alien is 80% green slime
This is the template for all science fiction space invasion pictures to follow thereafter! Precisely why we are all so drawn to these space disasters! The future should always be modeled after the psychedelic 1960s - and should always include a groovy theme song to get us in the mood! The "Green Slime" is here! Watch out!
The models remind me of Mystery Science Theater 3000. And it is a mystery why MST didn't do "Green SLime." Perhaps they were unable to secure the rights.
OMG! I remember seen this movie when I was 8 years and I was scared. I used to think this was from Captain Ultra but it's different. There is going to a special screening of the film at comic book convention here in L.A. this november. I can't miss it!
Rated G? LOL Actually, some of the cheesy effects in this movie are better than some that i've seen in more current moviest. For Example the SciFi channel has a whole bunch of them.
@xxxmoviefreakxxx i do have to argree with you, its shame sci-fi took off mst3k off the air, im better off watching mst3k riffing sci-fi movies instead!

It's wierd, one of the things I definately remember is that wierd screeching noises that they made.
I love how people call this cheesy. Whats so cheesy about a movie that had top notch special effects for 1969. As far as I'm concerned, it took alot of effort to make this movie when alot of films today are made for tons more money and dont deliever the staying power of green slime. This is a great film.
I've seen worse looking special effects from movies of this era, but then this also came out the same year as 2001: A Space Oddesy; so 'top notch' is probably a bit of a stretch.
i guess despite all these technological advancements, and the monsters that just happen to acompany such, people still had beehive haircuts in the 21st century
My wife and I met at this movie, believe it or not some of the effects are better than I remember, however Robert Horton was much better on Wagon Train!
Mean and green in every scene. A real horror spitting machine.

I love how people call this cheesy. Whats so cheesy about a movie that had top notch special effects for 1969. As far as I'm concerned, it took alot of effort to make this movie when alot of films today are made for tons more money and dont deliever the staying power of green slime. This is a great film.

I've seen worse looking special effects from movies of this era, but then this also came out the same year as 2001: A Space Oddesy; so 'top notch' is probably a bit of a stretch.

they used to show this movie all the time on tv in the afternoon back in the 80's/ I thought it was awsome.

My wife and I met at this movie, believe it or not some of the effects are better than I remember, however Robert Horton was much better on Wagon Train!
