Just saw this over the weekend and have to admit it's entertaining in a cheesefest sort of way. About the best part is watching Richard Jaeckel and Robert Horton act like they're in "Ben Hur" or "Gone with the Wind".

"G" rating? I don't think so. It's unbelievable, but there are a couple of the special effects that are too intense for young kids.

I saw this when they first released it to TV in the early 70's and it was so much fun to see for an adolescent boy who had his own space station and astronauts in the arsenal of toys. When the creatures touched anyone it sounded like a powerline shorting out and their voice sounded like a demon possesed Flipper at SeaWorld. It was like kiddie cocaine coming off of the screen.

I saw this movie in Bristol, Virginia in 1968 or 1969. The movie theatre went all out promoting this: I remember they sold green popcorn and green soda's and they gave out bumper stickers that read "Beware the Green Slime". They may have also given out buttons that said the same thing...or maybe I'm mixing that up with the "Pray for Rosemary's Baby" buttons that they were giving out when that movie opened across the street.

it's DONE! WB just released a barew bones "on demand" disc for $25 that has an awesome 2.35:1 crisp transfer that reveals all the cheese the VHS doesn't. it looks better than many modern transfers.

i also grabbed a $20 copy of their "wild, wild planet" (watch the trailer for that one too!!!) for a total of $2.50 in shipping.

this is where ridley stole 80% of alien from besides planet of the vampires, night of the blood beast & it! the terror from beyond space.

i like the transfer of wild wild planet even better. it's a little less crisp than green slime, but i think it's just lower quality film stock. other than that, it's a great 16:9 transfer. it's not as funny as green slime, but it's a treat for all fans of SF & le bad cinema.

green slime is off the charts wacky fun though.

as to alien, don't forget: it! the terror from beyond space & night of the blood beast as material scott lifted, but alien is 80% green slime
