Nitrogen Studios absolutely loves the original series and the Railway Series books, even having copies of Sodor: Reading Between the Island and TIOS on them. A right shame that the poor writing from HiT really makes the animation all the more a shame.

Why is it that every new episode is about someone not listening and making a shitload of mistakes, feeling like an idiot, and then finally getting it right?

I remember when I was a kid watching Thomas, when the episodes actually had decent plots that didn't strive (and fail) to teach kids things that are painfully obvious in the first place, and I turned out alright. :P

The only thing I liked about this episode is how Den and Dart make fun of Flynn for being a blumbering idiot!! That makes a ton of sense... He should be a professional firefighter, not a dumbass on rails......... On top of that, the other diesels don't speak at all and just appear as cameo background appearances! Merchandising FAIL!!! They never would have gotten away with japanese stereotypes when i was a kid. heck they had to change the trucks (freight cars) from black to grey because it was seen as racist. not like the trucks actually did mush hard work apart from bearing as load as opposed to pushing or pulling it.

@theliberator1 Hiro's an actual kind of Japanese engine, Japanese voice actor too. As for the trucks, there was never any racism involving them. You see a lot of greyish trucks in the CGI series.

And in the REAL world, steam locomotive fireboxes have things called GRATES. They can be used to move the coal around to maintain the fire, and they can ALSO completely dump the fire out underneath the engine if the fire DOES happen to get out of hand.

Please, Hit Entertainment, learn some stuff BEFORE you put these epic fails into your finished products.

Wait for Season 16 and 17 for better stories. The writing will change for the better, or else Thomas will be doomed.

My niece and I enjoyed this episode. She likes Flynn! I thought Edward's nervous facial expressions were funny. Is Flynn's VA a Brit? Good American accent, but I can tell that's not a native. I don't like how they thank the diesels when it was the drivers and so forth that did all the work. XD But Flynn is a great character and my niece is all about the "fire train" now.
