  • Khursheed has created a magical effect with her control and range. This has to be amongst the top two songs sung by any female in the Indian films. Pure magic.

  • This song brings tears to eyes.....immortal voice! Mehrba...

  • Such artists are basics of music ,people who do not know the basics of maths like 2+2 = 4 and ABC in English the language . Its the same in Music if you do not know who KHURSHEED BEGAM JEE , you failed in music right there.

  • Khursheed has made this song immortal. She has given it the high notes along with the moorkian. Only complaint is that the song is too short and she should have been asked to end with taking her voice up up and away to the fourth octave. Khursheed is probably one of two female singers who could take her voice up to the fourth octave. The composers of music could not blend high notes very well and could not utilize this unique gift given to Khursheed by God.

  • just amazing.... soul-soothing voice ... i am a graet fan,,, GREAT FAN of Khursheedji... would opt to listen to her songs when-so-ever available anywhere...

    regards .

  • Many thanks ! I heard this song after sooooo many years. In those days, khurshid banu sahiba was a singing heart of undivided subcontinent .

  • She is just beautiful and what a voice! What happened to her afterwards? I have never been sure if this is the same "Khursheed Bano" was the older sister of "Mahjabeen Naaz" (known as Meena Kumari.) There is definitely a similarity in looks. Did she sing or act for any more films? I would like to hear more Khursheed Bano songs. Thanks.

  • @jasiddiqi She is not Khurshid, the elder sister of Meena Kumari ( Mahjabeen Bano). She is actress Khurshid Bano ( real name Irshad Begum). She looks like Meena Kumari though. It appears Meena Kumari tried to copy Khurshid Bano' style of acting during early days of her career. Khurshid Bano was born at Chunian, a town near Lahore on 14-4-1914. After 1947 she left for Pakistan and settled in Karachi. She married a rich businessman and lived a prosperous life until her death on 18-4-2001.

  • This is so wonderful, and it never gets dated. Thanks so much for this most precious gem

  • A very old song but it has mellifluous rendition. Khurshid delivers the raag with ease and comfort. Enchanting, soothing...imagine this song came four years after playback recording in Hindi films was introduced in 1935 !!
