  • f*ck me that's a harsh snare

  • Comment removed

  • is it wierd that i think this is good?

  • That photo of Ricky looks like that scottish bird who used to present loose women

  • Pilkington was 10 when Ricky released this......Head like a little Orange.

  • @dilwich123 That means the Merch was 8 :-/ creepy stuff.

  • @dilwich123 Head like a fucking Tangerine? :P

  • Who knew? Inside the body of an 80's pop singer dwelled the genius mind of a truly talented comedian.

  • This is quite a deep song if you check the lyrics out. Typical Ricky, always going right for the gut. I love this song, I might just have to use it in poetry class!

  • Wow, I love this. I would love to hear more...

  • ricky gervais was one good looking lesbian

  • Dave Sylvian Mk 2

  • bizarre

  • I have so much love.. for his singing career.. ahhh.. I think I'm sweating. My body was not ready for this today. <3

  • sounds like bowie mixed with the cure

  • i quite like it

  • haha Gervais totally looks like bill from Tokyo Hotel...unfortunately, i dont think any members of Tokyo Hotel will become successful comedians.

  • @kgraham15 HAHA, I always thought Bowie when I looked at this! Now I realize you're totally right, he could be Bill's dad! xD

  • Personally I think the reason they didn't make it big was because they sounded so DIFFERENT...seriously this sounds like a 90s song or maybe even newer...haha Ricky Gervais is a genius entertainer.

  • "Karl, you're a maniac! What a load of bollocks!"

  • This is the best one out of what they released i reckon

  • sooo Bowie. haha. Go Ricky, go ricky

  • he should totally make a film about a failed 80's pop singer trying to be a comedian now

  • @MsWildCard or totally make a video about a comedian trying not to be recognized as a failed 80's pop singer.

  • not bad

  • aS IF, i hated rickie gervais, now i know hes a spandex fairy, BOOM!

  • @twasadream2 its not a joke song... he actually was a pop singer in the 80s

  • brilliant song. his voice is like a combination of fergie and jesus

  • Sounds like music Buffalo Bill would be dancing naked to in front of the camera.

  • @R0773N Heh heh,yeah,..incidentally,the band was Q Lazzarus.The song,"Goodbye Horses"

  • Yeah, I just discovered this today ... not bad at all for what it is.

  • jude law

  • Had the market not flooded with Bowie copycats this might have done well.

  • 1:03 i wanted to fuck that girl then i remembered that it is RICKY GERVAIS!!!!!!!!!

  • Its not bad...i am shocked...it's kind of depeche mode meets the cure... I would have bought his cassette back in the 80's.

  • PLEASE!! does anyone know where i can get the mp3 audio to this song!!!

  • @MsYesterday1 use this:

  • @master0monster damn, wont let me send even a broken down version of the link. just google video to mp3 and you should find sites that'll let you turn the video into a downloadable file for free.

  • @MsYesterday1 if you give me your e-mail I can send it to you.

  • Bad intro, then it turns amazing

    great voice!

  • He was a really handsome guy in his younger days huh.

  • @ChainsawVsGod that's what i thought! time hasn't been kind!

  • @ChainsawVsGod Now he's handsome again!

  • @Miniermotte

    He certainly is :D

  • kinda know why his wife is often called his "beard" now ;)

  • Such a talented singer. I wanna know what happened to the guy on piano.

  • GOD I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!

  • I'm just waiting for him to burst out laughing like he does on the podcasts :)

  • swimming goggles?

  • Some of the lyrics are a bit clumsy and the delivery in the beginning a bit shaky, but the epic chorus and outro are actually genuinely quite moving. Its a shame with better production this could be a brilliant song.

  • @emperorglenuff Put more effects on it and begin the song with a 3 minute guitar solo and you've got a Cure song. I'm saying that as a fan of The Cure.

  • That's it! This is the next Gervais/Merchant creation! Fortysomething washed up entertainer (haha) tries to recapture the magic from his band days...only by the end it actually turns out to be BRILLIANT...you know, in that typical Gervais/Merchant poignant way.

Kinda like a Napoleon Dynamite meets Little Voice.

  • @cbmtrx Thats been done before, check out the Martin clunes / Neil Morrisey films "Hunting Venus", its awsome! its on Youtube aswell

  • did he have a hand in writing the music?

  • @Colunga210 ricky was the lyricist. bill macrae composed the melody.

  • God i fuckin love this song, thats whats so sad.

  • "Give me a show." Ok.

  • Gervais was so lesbian at this time that he even made Bowie look butch..

  • hell, makes you think whats the music business really is made of... these guys were obvious talented as musicians. In this case it turn out ok for ricky.

  • Holy shit... this is actually, quite good. David Brent?! WTF?! MY MIND = blown :(

  • I really like this song.

  • He looks cutish at 1:11. The other guy looked miserable.

  • what a life ricky has had.

  • Jesus, why wouldn't it be good? We already knew he was a great comedian, why wouldn't his music be good too?

  • Not as good as Bitter Heart, but not bad :)

  • I love this song, very moving. Always come back to it when i've had a bad day.

  • love the chorus

  • Hello, Bret. I'm Da-vid Bo-wie.

  • Is that Boy George.

  • @rosihantu1 nope, its ricky gervais believe it or not

  • Gosh this is rather weird watching him as a teen. Wow.

  • with a different vocal style and drum sound this could have come out recently. keys sound like coldplay or something.

  • @ABCvitaminD I'm pretty sure the whole drum machine and keyboard synth thing is having a come back now.

  • Wonder if he used to do the infamous office dance back then as well. ;)

  • Wow, he's really good looking here. Such a shame how fatness makes once good looking people just blahhh..

  • The melody that kicks in at 1:13 combined with ricky's vocals really brings this song alive.... Really suprised how good it is from there, Very Emotional and atmospheric. Ricky certainly has a penchant for quality in all forms of art and media.

  • Vocals a bit like Mr Eldritch mmmmmmmm I like that! Glad to see so many people like em!.

  • this is fantastic!

  • I've changed my mine.

    This song is epic! x

  • anybody know where I could download this??x

  • @rdgloveshouse There are ways of downloading audio off of youtube. Google it.

  • SEONNAAAAA!

  • Youthful indiscretions.

  • Reminds me of The Cure.

  • Just thought I'd let you know that your pants are incredibly electrically charged and are consequently fantastically sexual.

  • is this song kinda awesome?

  • l could imagine this in a Michael Mann film....you know for one of his dramatic scenes where everyone looks sullen and says very little. Fits the period perfectly.

  • Very 80's: could have been a Human League song or a less version of Bowie. He somehow looks totally different, and I am not even referring to the fact he has gained weight.

  • hes not tryna destroy fame u fukin idiot

  • oh, i see. you have obviously given it some thought i can tell

  • say what you want about him, but hes famous in his own right and hes earned it, i think your the sour one good fellow since you seem too be be bitter at someone who is genuinly more talented than you

  • how on earth do you know that he is more talented than me, you nebbish? Maybe I have just got to much integrity to make jokes about disabled people?

  • well maybe coz instead of being famous you sit trolling on youtube..... get a life lol

  • @dieselheart1 too much integrity?

you clearly dont understand his humour if you think that its as easy as that.

theres more depth to his comedy than that, stop being so childish.

  • how you dare

  • Who cares? He´s rigth, he´s brilliant and he is actually deligthfull while in stand-up, and one of the best comedian actors of all time.

  • maybe that is the point. Maybe we should care.

  • i rekon this is the best seona dancing song

  • Christ almighty Ricky. What were you doing.

  • I found the first part of this song a bit boring compared to More To Lose and Bitter Heart but the second part, starting at 1:13 , is quite fantastic x

  • erm... why was my comment marked as spam????x

    =S

  • Don't know, but it's been duly unmarked.

  • @Antelope6 can you unmark mine as spam too pls

  • I found this song a little boring compared to More To Lose and Bitter Heart although the second part, starting at 1:13 , is quite fantastic x

    luv them x

  • que buena voz se parece al de ultravox

  • Love it.

  • He's great. I love his voice.

  • This is actually pretty amazing. :]

  • I love it!

  • wow Ricky Gervais.....

  • Is it just me, or is this actually quite a good song?

  • the latter.

  • Great song. I like his voice better then David Bowie, less verbrato and a little smoother. He always seems embarassed by this stuff, but he's great. Comedy or singing. Love it.

  • @yorkfieldpictures no, it's just you.

  • @yorkfieldpictures it's just you, the song is fucking horrible, his voice is totally contrived. they didn't make it in the music industry for a reason imo

  • @silowhore clearly it's not just him given the amount of thumb-ups and I too think that his voice is great and not because he's Ricky Gervais, sure I love his work, but I just like this band.

  • @silowhore What does it even mean to have a contrived voice...

  • @athrough0 Deliberately created rather than arising naturally or spontaneously. He's trying to look and sound like Bowie. As I said, contrived.

  • @silowhore I think there's a portion of Danny Elfman coming through on this one as well. Not sure if that was intentional or not haha

  • Comment removed

  • @juniwilliams because their music had musical and artistic merit, this is total garbage. I was a professional musician for nearly 20 years and I'm saying, ask anyone else who has been in the business and truly understands music what they think of this song.

  • @silowhore | i just think you don't like the meaning of the lyrics of the song, no? am i wrong?

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know why people are giving you loads of negative points, I totally agree. They're pretty forgetable.

  • I can't believe that beautiful trim man is the same bloke who cried and begged for his job back in the Office.

  • lol

  • "head like a f*****g orange"

  • This song is getting some serious airtime in my head... Love it.

  • I like his little beard.

  • Oh god, he was androgynous in that pic that's in the middle of the vid!

    ...

    Wait, I'm gay...

So that's actually kind of hot.

  • He was a good artist, but if he actually became a successful musician, he wouldn't be the man we know today.

  • And there would be no british "the Office"... meaning ther would be no american "the office" which would suck just a litle for me lol

  • its not that good....

  • beautifull track

  • Good 80's feel too it, like a cross between Bowie and The Cure.

  • got a hint of gary numan aswell. theres a song called love is like clock claw which is very similar

  • blade runner

  • He sounds so much like Bowie, but less good.

    He can actually sing though!

    So un-Ricky it's weird...

    Gorgeous too.

  • Ha i made a similar comment on the Rom 101 video. So true!

  • Top Song...can't help but like it...please make a comeback!!

  • then who's gonna do comedy.

    but they were good

  • His music was fucking good, he really should have made it back in the 80's!!! No wonder he over does his fame today, he knows he was and is good!!! Love ya Ricky!!!

  • ricky is so talented ....

  • These songs are actually good.

That's a good vocal, sounds like a cross between David Bowie and Brett Anderson of Suede.

  • Absolute bollocks.

  • I actually like this!

  • shut up u dirty crack head

  • he wasnt fat when he wrote the song

  • now he writes about mars bars and flakes

  • LOL

  • shit this song is actually good

  • Acting he is one of the funniest men alive and off camera too, but i dont think he is naturally witty off camera that much,.....not like jim carey.....this will start a massive debate lol

  • jim carey is witty? haha, ahaha, AHAAAAAAA!

  • Glad you thought so...see your laughing already

  • Ive been listenin to the ricky/steve/karl podcasts lately n i think hes very witty, very quick!

Jim carrey, its a very different humour!

  • ok, maybe im wrong, dont get me wrong i think hes funny, but i never hear any real quick witt, and i agree carey is a stupid comparrison to of made..anyway i love the office and think he plays one of the funniest parts i have ever seen in a series...apart from partridge : )

  • Do you honestly think Jim Carrey is witty? I'm a fan of both Jim Carrey and Ricky Gervais, but Ricky is far more witty, agree with the podcast comment, Gervais is highly intelligent with a more reserved and dry sense of humour. Jim carrey needs a setting and story behind his comedy, and resorts to making big and silly actions, but don't get me wrong i love him for it!

  • Im noyl going by what i saw of carey on johnathan ross really! he came across so sharp and funny. Maybe im wrong about ricky then, or maybe both our ideas of quick witted humour is totally different : ) peace !!

  • I reccomend you check out Ricky's interviews (Not Ross perhaps, after all they're best mates, so Ricky tends to just muck around in those ones), but in particular his interview on Desert Island Discs (Which is on YT), there you really see what an honest, charming and down-to-Earth man he is.

I will check out Carrey's Ross interview, sounds interesting.

  • Jim Carey is not that funny off camera, he's actually a dickhead lose!!!

  • i love this song !!!!!!!!!!

  • I fuckin' LOVE Ricky Gervais! Funniest man alive, and a polymath to boot...

  • Gorgeous bone structure, intelligence, humor...good genetics. Hope he has kids.

  • He's 47 and his girlfriend is about the same age, so don't hold your breath. What would be the point anyway? There'll never be another Karl to pair up with.

  • Lol I know, but look at Charlie Chaplin! He was having kids at 70...

  • Let's just hope Steve DOESN'T.

We have enough Goggle-eyed freaks. 1.

  • LOL he should rerelease it for comic relief or children in need!
