Some of the lyrics are a bit clumsy and the delivery in the beginning a bit shaky, but the epic chorus and outro are actually genuinely quite moving. Its a shame with better production this could be a brilliant song.

Do you honestly think Jim Carrey is witty? I'm a fan of both Jim Carrey and Ricky Gervais, but Ricky is far more witty, agree with the podcast comment, Gervais is highly intelligent with a more reserved and dry sense of humour. I reccomend you check out Ricky's interviews (Not Ross perhaps, after all they're best mates, so Ricky tends to just muck around in those ones), but in particular his interview on Desert Island Discs (Which is on YT), there you really see what an honest, charming and down-to-Earth man he is.
