For the longest time since the beginning of the Chinese civilization we've always been ancestor worshipers who believed the power of protection from our own deceased family members and even in MOST part of China today we still remain the same practice. Non of us had ever heard of this so called Shangdi or one and only God until Catholic missionaries who reached China and introduced the first old testament.

This lecture is obviously held to convert chinese into christians. This preacher is merely focusing on the similarities and many things in this world have similarities although there are huge differences between shang di and jesus. This was held in Singapore. Asia is dominated by Taoism, buddhism and confucious, no surprise Christians in this region are aggressive to attack their greatest rivals. IMO this is bullshit and brainwashing.

Although I recognize this man's arguement, you have to understand that Shang Di ruled over a pantheon or a lesser hierachy of gods. Yes there are many similiarities but I can say that about most religions. Also, China yes has a written history of 4500 years but they have excavated remains of homo erectus from one million years ago. Thus what did they believe in THAT span of time?

I read the books but this presentation was much simpler to understand. I also grew in respect for Matteo Ricci.It's easy for us to look back and criticise the pope but if we try to consider the scenario in its time, Rome was probably uncomfortable with the term 'ancestral worship' as are some of us till this day. On a positive note, it shows the Catholic Church is very cautious about who they worshipped so its untrue that they 'worship Mary and the saints'.

How is this misleading and wrong info? All this guy is trying to convey is the similarities between the Bible and ancient Chinese characters and culture. To someone who is Chinese, this makes perfect sense because all our lives we have been raised to learn these characters which by the way has stayed the same and is historically sound since we use these characters today.

The similarities aren't just random ones that you can find if you study them hard. Christianity is a religion that is unique and these similarities can only be found in his argument.

As humans, would it not be logical for things to not 'make sense'? That's completely natural! Just think about it - if we understood all of God's actions, decisions and existence, then we'd be equivalent to Him, and thus there would theoretically be no God in this situation!

So, there is no point in arguing. The bottom line is: if we knew everything, there wouldn't be a God. The fact that you don't understand is good enough for a reason to know that He exists!
