Yeah, actually there is. It's more toward the 101 freeway side of the park (if memory serves).

It really is worth seeing in person. I can't speak for the coyotes, though. Frankly, I think I'd probably scream or faint if I did see one up close while hiking the trails, lol.

There are many cayotes there,One time I fed one with orange chicken it was very friendly I left in my truck but it followed me untill I disappeared I felt bad.

Yeah, it sucks that so much was wiped out, especially whatever animals got trapped. Fires are natural, of course, but this one was started by careless, ignorant kids.

In Sydney, there was a really bad fire, but 3 months later, there was lots of green showing up in the blackened forest. Australia has quite a few plants/trees that their seeds sprout better when heated. What with how combustible the eucalyptus trees are, this is a good thing!

Thanks, Samantha - yeah, it's a tough thing to behold because those trails had so much green around them. And even though fires are pretty common out this way, this one was tough because it was some careless jerk rather than mother nature doing her thing.

You know, fire brings on the opportunity for new species to inhabit an ecosystem. When a big fire hit most of Yellowstone, the biologists and ecologists learned a lot! Again, a great video.

20 hours after posting this, I finally get to see it. Work sucks. I hope you are enjoying SouthTube. One of the amazing things after fire (and here, after a lava flow) is that life starts coming back so quickly. Hopefully the trees will start growing back soon enough.

I remember some very bad bushfires in Tasmania some years ago, the next Spring saw some of the lushest growth ever with seed pods of some plants that hadn't been seen for years activated and spread by the intense heat. All things are cyclical and I'm sure this area will return to it's former glory (maybe even better!). As always, great vid!:)

The sum total of my experience in griffith park is limited to three things: 1) riding the carousel with hank; 2) riding the little train thingy with hank; and 3) taking him on the little guided pony rides. We did our "griffith park" thing quite a few times when we were living there. The observatory was closed during that time though so we never got to see it.

But we did make it to disneyland! Just once but it was worth it for the look on his face. Next stop - orlando!
