  • Hmm, even though he stopped the car with the e-brake eventually, it didn't occur to him to use that method when the problem first arrised??? Fucking idiot.

  • I had a 82 F250 the toilet bowl chain on the carb broke and wrapped around keeping the throttle reving the brakes had no problem stopping the truck.

  • I had an electronics problem on my car which basically kept the throttle open. Used engine braking to slow it down then turned the damn thing off on the hard shoulder. Its that fucking easy. From the time the engine revved up to the time I stopped was like 15 seconds or something.

  • Actually Ford new about this for a long time. They also didnt bother replacing an 11 dollar part on an older vehicle because it was cheaper to pay out to people that sued than recall and replace all the cars.

  • @elbatemano they did the same with the bronco

  • turn it off

  • It works every time! If you want to get on tv, call the cops and tell them your cruise control is stuck.

About the third time I've seen crap like this.

  • Fucken Wanker!!

  • I THINK WE JUST FOUND THE WORLDS DUMBEST DRIVER!!!

  • I THINK WE JUST FOUND THW WORLDS DUMBEST DRIVER!!!

  • F.O.R.D- Found On Road Dead

  • @Saturn754 F.O.R.D Fixed or repaired daily.

  • @Twiztidninjas But hey atleast they circled the problem.

  • WHAT AN IDIOT

  • There's what so called the 'neutral' gear which will disengage the wheel from the transmission. The changes from drive to neutral is loose (no braking needed to change from one another). If thing like this happen, put the lever from drive to neutral and brake normally. If you're in manual car, press the clutch and put the gear to neutral and brake. Don't have to be panic and think something bad going to happen. It just make things worst.

  • Stupid Idiot.

  • Typical for a ford..

  • Bullshit,absoloute rubbish,no way could a car or vehicle control a person,total attention seeker.

  • There MUST have been a reason why putting it in neutral and hitting the brakes didn't work...

  • @djmonsta200883 I'd say because he doesn't know how to operate his vehicle. It wouldn't surprise me, especially after the Toyota/Lexus fiasco.

  • this faggot should be driving a toyota

  • This thread is hilarious. And most of the comments totally correct. Idiot.

  • yep,this is a idiot !

  • Buy a manual next time, just push the clutch peddle in.

  • "oh my god im gonna die" ... yeah you are gonna die. Natural selection takes the dumb fuckers first

  • Its an automatic which means that shifting is electronically controled not mechanical so if the control module is fucked and stuck on cruise then pushing the shifter to neutral won't do a damn thing. you guys really think the guy didn't think to put the car in neutral haha

  • @36815 yeah well many people dont know what the hell the shift positions 1 and 2 are meant for in automatics so we figured others wouldn't know what the N position does.

  • my disc brakes were iced once and the brakes were doing nothing at 40kph . In less than 2 seconds I had the presence of mind to pump the hand brake and that slowed me down to a stop mere feet from a main road. How can this guy have not thought of ANYTHING for 20 miles?! seriously...

  • yeah bout a week ago my taurus' accelerator stuck in the middle of Canal street manhattan... almost hit a taxi and a parked service truck.. been only driving for 2 weeks and still had the sense to throw the car in neutral and safely pull over... but man if i didnt do that the car woulda more than likely ended up at least seriously hurting someone. i'm still thanking god right now no one got hurt. got sold a complete lemon had it for 3 weeks now im looking for a charity to take it off my hands

  • put it to neutral jackass

  • What a fucking retard.

  • just another drunk aussie

  • How fucking dumb can people be. People this dumb should be exterminated. How dumb is this cunt! The mechanics of the car make cruise control fail safe. (unless your handbreak is broken, your foot break doesnt work, your key is broken off in your ignition, and your gear shifter is stuck, oh, and the clutch doesnt work.)

  • Where's Darwin's theory of Natural Selection ?

  • @GetMeInNow123 the dumb ones from England are sent to Australia, The dumb ones from Australia are sent to America and the dumb ones from America become politicians.

  • 0:00 I'm sick of ads/

  • what a fucking retard. Deserved to die.

  • That car cannot go below 50 mph or else it'll blow up.

  • @Sooprazn lol

  • @Sooprazn They don't call it an Exploder for nothing.

  • He was probably on drugs or something lol AH SNAKE BRAKES, WAAAAAAAAAAH!! COBRAS! Better call for help. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

    Seriously stupid.

  • Speeding in Melbourne.. I wonder how many dozens of speed camera tickets he incurred during that little journey.

  • there is always that one guy............

  • full time fuck wit, no holidays, no rdo's, full time....

  • even the Cops to him turn it off!..........oh the Stereo?......OK.....still speeding? jump out? DUH.

  • it took him quite a while to figure out that using the brake slows the car...

  • Would of been better if he had fuckiing died, thick cunt

  • even if the car fucked up, he would still get cited for failure to maintain control of vehicle. Just like those toyotas that floored themselves, those drivers were cited as well. because they did fail at controlling their vehicles. Tire blows out and your car slams a sign, or goes off road....your driving the car, so you get cited. or if your brakes fail when a semi is crossing the road hauling explosive plutonium. auto owners are screwed.

  • @mackinl

    Does he have a brain?

  • @randomviewing I think his brain was stuck in neutral.

  • Dumb-ass retard was too thick to think about turning off the engine.

Lucky the shit-head did not kill anyone.

You do not lose steering and you do not lose brakes.

It is the power assistance for both that stops working when the engine stops.

The brakes and the steering still work perfectly well ( by law ) without the power assistance, They are just a little harder to use without the assistance.

They are simply back to how brakes and steering were before power assistance was introduced.

  • maybe even worse that the news hyped it up and celebrated a retard that can't find the brakes or neutral or the igniton. fucks sakes, how the hell this guy got it moving in the first place is beyond me.

  • What a retard, even a caveman can push the brakes to a halt and then stop the engine..

  • I had that happen to me years ago driving a 1975 Lincolin Town Car . The cruise control was set at eighty , I could not stop the car . The off switch would not work and the brake pedal cut off would not work . I didn't panic , just put the car in neutral an turned the key to off , then mashed like hell on the brake pedal .

  • @foxchemdry1

What real emergencies? Like police brutality? Plus, I don't think its very smart to turn off your car in the middle of a freeway.

  • @ddiabloo - gotta be smarter than letting it speed up till it kills you or somebody else.

  • @ddiabloo hmmmm.... lets see now, speeding out of control at 120 where a intersection can come up with stoped cars?...... orr puting the car in neutral, shutting it off and braking to a stop on the shoulder of a highway? What the fuck do you think sounds like a smarter idea jackass

  • @ddiabloo I don't think is safe to turn the car off either, that may cause the steering wheel to get hard to steer or lock, but I think putting the car in neutral and break would help

  • @Haulero Leaving your key in the ignition won't lock your steering wheel. He shoulda just switched the engine off the dumbass. haha

  • 1:30 haha awkward

  • @trevtmk hahahaha

  • idiots

  • he tries everything he tried nuetral and turning off the car but the speed control system had nearly total control thats why ford is doing recalls. duhh fucking idiots

  • So the car couldn't be shut off or put into neutral on top of the throttle sticking? Or is that guy just a huge idiot. I can say with confidence that after a few seconds I would have done both those things.

  • Stupid is just unfixable. Althoughonce in a while natural selection weeds it out.

  • ford NEVER had this problem before???? see "Runaway Cars", twelve segment report here in YouTube. It's a huge problem for Ford cars with a faulty cruise control. Ford has LIED again!!!!

    Remember the Pinto!

  • Look at the driver and everything is clear.

  • what's with all these fucking idiots who dont have the presence of mind to PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL and turn the car off? I mean how fucking stupid can you be? You can take the time to pick up the phone and dial the police, but you can't put it in neutral and hit the brakes or turn off the engine? People like this should be sent to jail for bothering the police when they could be off dealing with REAL emergencies.

  • @foxchemdry1 its soo true i mean come on people you should have to know how a vehicle works before climbing behind the wheel!!! its not that difficult to put it into neutral!

  • @foxchemdry1 I agree. That's what neutral is for. I've never had that happen to my car.

  • Dumb ass. "I can slow it down to 80, then it just accelerates again". Yes it will accecerate when you take your foot off the brake!

  • u sure that it wasnt a toyota! :)

  • He should had press the breaks and pull on the handbrakes 20 miles ago, He's just creating shit!

  • Comment removed

  • I say, let him crash and burn... the world needs less stupid drivers on the road....

    Survival of the fitness, boys!

  • @ethen24 he might be a good person, just a bad driver, you idiot...

  • neutral, heavy braking, turning the key to the off position. thats three things that toke me like 1 second to come up with. are people really that stupid? or are they looking for attention. I think this is just another boy in a balloon story

  • Comment removed

  • @yomumma92 lol love it how they removed my comment - the person who I proved wrong must not have like it

  • @smokeyjayshouse 1) Shift lock - prevents gear shifting when cruise control is active...

    2) With cruise control stuck on, the Explorer wouldn't drop below 80

    3) Ignition lock - a "safety" mechanism fitted br Ford to prevent the steering column from locking if the car is switch off while moving...

  • @yomumma92, you dont kno what your talking about. shift lock prevents you from putting your car in reverse or park while your driving and has absolutly nothing to do with the cruise control. and the only way shift lock is deactivated is by hiting the break. and if you take any car on the road and try to shift it to neutral it will shift to neutral even if cruise is on. but wont go to reverse unless you hit the breaks. so there you go. also cruise will be deactivated by shifting to neutral

  • @yomumma92 nice try but im a master technician so you cant pull that crap on me

  • @smokeyjayshouse Not a very good one then... check the Australian specs for the Explorer... Ford themselves admitted it was a mechanical error - why don't you check out some of the videos on Youtube about "Sudden Acceleration" - BBC did a documetary which can be found right here on Youtube, about the Ford Explorer, and cruise control related issues dating back to the mid-late 90's, including this VERY case. Education in this field could perhaps help your case...

  • retard needs to learn how to use a shifter...

  • hahahahaah ur a fuckhead, if you actually kept up with it all, you would have learnt they found the issue with the car. so suck my c$%k

  • @DARKRIGUE Shift lock...

  • PUT THE DAMN THING IN NEUTRAL! IDIOT!

  • @YellowSSS ya maybe these hybrid prius things might not allow input but an Explorer has a cable throttle and a normal transmission....part of the problem is general STUPIDITY among the average car owner......my dad was the kind of guy who wanted to understand how anything he used worked and that trait is passed on to me but the average car owner dont know nothing...ive seen guys in their twentys waiting for AAA to come and change their flat tire...the world is full of idiots

  • DITTO !

  • @YellowSSS well some new cars you cant shift into neutral unless your stopped. but he could have put that car into neutral!

  • Everyone one should get a standard. :)

  • oh i totally agree with you on that one man!!! to many stupid people cant even drive a fuckn auto though. i love manuals! not the flappy padle shit

  • @YellowSSS and blow your engine up !

  • @Sven2Perroy Yeah thats really a problem if your going to die. I would rather risk my engine the my body.

  • @YellowSSS He couldn't idiot... ever heard of shift lock? It prevents you from changing into neutral when cruise control is active. This poor bloke's cruise control was stuck on, and hence, so was shift lock...

  • @yomumma92 yea and at the last moment he was finally able to stop. It's a miracle..

  • @YellowSSS also the police had time to tell him this i dont understand why they didnt

  • Emergency brakes are never computer controlled. So there goes the "Ghost in the Machine" theory.

Also, its funny people just assume that a car's ECU can crash like a robot and disable all inputs, but can miraculously still get A/F ratios and timing just right even for the motor to purr on ahead.

  • Not saying I disagree, but I do believe the Prius has like 3 different ECUs, and I'm not counting like little boxes, these are 3 full sized ECUs like you would find 1 of in a regular car. Maybe one of them is failing? I think the guy in this video is just an idiot who can't drive though.

  • prius has an ecu that controls engine functions, if it crashed the engine wouldnt have timing correctly air feul mixture, and most importantly throttle input or spark. then it has a ecu that controls the abs and breaking assist wich has nothing to do with the throttle except when it sees break application it send a signal to engine and trans ecu that the brake is engaged. and there is a ecu that you could consider a black box. that records what pedals your feet where on and how fast you was goin

  • Excellent point!

  • nah man they found the cause, was nothing to do with the design of the car.

  • ford.

  • i`m sceptical about this myself, allthough i can recall a work mate haveing his big v8 pick up stick full throttle, he had to turn the ignition off, after rolling to a stop he remover the air filter and found a pea sized stone had bounced up under the hood and lodged between the throttle linkage, a million to one but these things happen.

  • I have seen these "runaway car videos" and yes some cars can have a accelerator problem but not one of these cars wouldnt have stopped if it had been put in neutral or the key turned off.

  • "Ford say this has never happened before" BULLSHIT!!!! This has happened COUNTLESS times across nearly the entire ford range of cars! Just watch "runaway cars segment 1 sudden acceleration" on youtube!

When will Ford start taking responsibility for their sheer negligence??

  • For all those doubters/magnificent drivers who think Chase Weir is just a person who can't drive - search for the youtube video of the BBC show on "runaway cars segment 1 sudden acceleration". There's 13 youtube segments in all. All I can say is - you'll be shocked.

  • This person is an idiot, At best he is too stupid to be driving a car. At worst he may require mental help. The police should be charging him. Facinating how he was able to stop just before the police were about to force him off the road!

  • Because when he had to cross the central reservation (as he had no choices left) he lost some speed, & the combination of some lost speed & application of foot & hand brakes finally worked. He had tried the foot brake mutiple times before, but every time he used it the car slowed to about 80, & then the cruise control overrode the brakes & revved the engine back up so he got up to a speed of 100 again. He had been afraid using the handbrake would cause him to roll at a speed of 80 to 100.

  • he could have just simply taken it out of gear

  • @mawoods34 he tried that multiple times.

  • If he's in the breakdown lane, just turn the fucking thing off, put your hazards on, and crawl to a stop.

  • @Zxceelxuz He tried that, the key locked.

  • I drive a 2000 V6 Mustang with a 5-speed tranny, and I have experienced moments of sudden acceleration before too, while merging off an interstate onto an offramp, but I just dropped the car into neutral - my engine revved high, so I tapped the accelerator and everything was fine. This has happened to me about 3 times in the past year.

  • @sixstanger00 Glad to hear you're still ok. But you might want to consider what the result would be if it jammed on you when you weren't on an interstate/didn't have any road space to push on the accelerator. Your car is an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully you always give yourself double the driving/road space just to be on the safe side ^^.

  • Is there some reason he couldn't shift to neutral?

  • Mr Chase Weir said he tried to shift the 2002 Explorer into neutral but the car was frozen in gear.

  • @Leadwerks He tried that, it wouldn't allow itself to be knocked out of gear.

  • scream biatch scream what a dumb cunt best describes this Fajett Why do men who act like women become even more hysterical than the average chick when confronted with drama He says people are judgmental but the laws of PHysics would suggest the ignition would kill the motor, or the breaks would work or the gears would work it is not probable that all systems would malfunction at once more like this little girl was too busy screaming like a queen to actually try turning the car off etc etc

  • this dude is a dead set wanker what a load of rubbish his car was tested after and there was nothing wrong with the car and no chance in any way shape or form would all 4 things crash at once. hoax little actor looking for a payout from ford. maybe he should think next time

  • cruise control is a bitch

  • Ford Explorers are nice cars though

  • lol did you see the police officer and the driver hugging each other at 1:28 - totally not posed =D

  • due to the way youtube works when pressing reply goto bottem and press View all comments,so you can see the in the correct reply order

most moden cars do lock the steering when key is out or in the first position (electronic lock may not due to the ECU knowing the car is still moveing once the car has stopped it would auto lock, i have seen that happen)

if you put the key back into second position lock would turn off

  • I agree with Gerry I can't see why he didn't just force it out of gear.

  • Not thinking to hard at all, its an automatic (this is to the comments posted about changing gears)

more thinking its an electronic automatic gears with an half crashed ECU so changing the gears to N does nothing due to it been electronic its ignoring user input, only thing you can do is make the car go sideways to stop it or hit something

  • most cars that do not use electronic wheel locking DO lock the steering wheel when key is in the 1st position , you have put the key and turn it to the 2nd position that unlocks the steering (3rd setting is engine start but it clicks back to 2nd)

electronic steering locking can be dangerous if power fails or an fault happens the fail safe can some times be lock the steering (I know some Audi vans that do this when an fault happens that cuts the engine out turns the steering lock on)

  • I've actually done this b4, I went 80kph, pulled the hand brake up, first slowly (nothing happened), then I yanked it, whoa! scary, the vehicle acted like it was a rear wheel drive turbo car, the rear fish tailed, lucky I released the handbrake quick enough, had I kept it in place the vehicle would've spun out and hit parked cars, etc. NOW, lucky I had steering control, I was able to bring the car back to normal, imagine steering lock, I would've had an accident.

  • why the hell wer u using the handbrake at 80 kph?? lol

  • 1) Curiosity :) I wanted to see what would happen, I kinda knew it would lock up the rear wheels, but never thought it would be that severe

    2) It wasn't my car :) new audi, had heaps of fun, raced a few cars, and thought I'd test out handbrake tricks, always been fascinated with burnouts, handbrake turns, reverse 180, etc. But being a new car, I couldn't do most of these :) On a controlled track, I would go nuts, as would any petrol head..to a certain extent of course, the car can flip.

  • I would have tried to turn ignition off and handbreak or pull it out of gear.Failing that i would have rubbed it up the saftey barriers to loose speed or try stack it into something solid at a lower speed.

Theres no way i would have kept going that long in a run away.

  • 2 of them he like tryed

  • What a stupid fool!

Put the vehicle in neutral pull over to the side and apply brakes or emergency brake.

People like this shouldn't be driving if they can't figure out what to do if this happens.

    LOL What a FOOL!

  • @GerryK61

I totally agree with you! For fuck sake just switch your engine off!!!!(same key as you start your car! LOL) and when you slow down a bit just pull a handbrake if you cant use normal brakes.

  • Yep your right! I don't know about cars where your from. But here if you turn the motor off you have a chance that steering locks. So you won't be able to steer. Thats why I said just put the vehicle in neutral. So what if the engine revs a little high. At least the brakes & steering still work. Have a safe & happy holiday season evaldasibm and fellow Youtubers!

  • @GerryK61

Fastest way would be to turn engine off and on again and cruise control disables! Your way should work fine too!!! Merry Christmas to you Gerry aswell!!

  • in this case the computer failed, so it was ignoreing user input, car key key and the AUTOmatic gear stick and i am guessing the steering lock lucky (apart from brakes or hand brake)

  • @GerryK61 There's two modes: electronics and ignition. Most steering wheels don't lock if the key is still physically in. If a steering wheel locks with the engine turned off, even if the key is still inside, then that's a terrible design that should be recalled.

  • Most if not all cars do lock once the key is in the first position (you can take the key out) the second position is when it unlocks (the steering lock does not know if the wheels are moving or not) some cars may have wheel movement detectors so it does not lock until he car has stopped but I would only think that be on very pricey cars

  • TheFerruccio

I don't know what you drive . But every car I have owned from 1980's up. If you turn the ignition off( Meaning Motor) while driving the steering locks. So like others here have stated. A driver would have to quickly turn the motor off & switch the ignition back on to unlock the steering after the motor shuts off. But then that would be even more dangerous in a vehicle with power assisted steering would be very hard to steer. Thats why it would be safer pop it into Neutral & stop

  • I've driven BMWs, Toyotas, Nissans, I've only gotten the steering wheel to lock once it's out of the ignition. Oh well, I guess we just drive different cars. I know that, at least, on some Nissans, you really have to turn the steering wheel far in order to engage the lock (practically sideways), otherwise it turns freely. At highway speeds, you shouldn't need to turn the steering wheel more than a few degrees. You should have at least some element of control.

  • did you even watch the video he tryed that

  • and eveyrone who is saying it dosent work needs to learn a bit about cars and what to do if your accelerator sticks , you turn off the key and apply the breaks solidly

yeh the steering may lock up but your stopping not going through a slalom course.

  • did you watch the video, he tryed that, do know there are car that have automatic gears, the ECU half crashed on his car so it was ignoreing the car key and gear changes

  • don't buy ford explorer.

  • you fucking moron, turn the key off

simple as that. gas stuck, cruise control on, or w/e just turn the key off and apply the brakes.

  • Sounds fishy , i think its fake , never heard of that problem, and he should have taken the keys out

  • he did try that

  • how do you know? because it said it? I know it works, iv had to do it before.

  • Older cars didn't have steering lock and/or power steering, so removing the ignition key didn't have any adverse reaction/consequences, nowadays, IF you were able to remove the ignition key, 2 things will happen, 1) steering column will lock up if you steer a few degrees to either side, 2) brakes will only work for a couple of seconds then it will be near impossible to stop a vehicle without hydraulic assistance. This guy's Ford Territory locked the key while it was in D gear.

  • @ExoneratedUndead He tried that and everything else and nothing worked. He could have had a bad crash and died. Your the moron.

  • omg you dont know shit do you hahah

  • American cars are crap

  • that's very dangerous if you turned the ignition key the car steering would lock up.

also some newer cars will not let you turn the ignition key if the car is in motion

  • He tried that you MORON, read the news!

  • theres nothing to read its a video , and it works.
