Very nice; I actually learned a few things from watching this.

I'm not sure why your present Ran's first spellcard as something to be feared - it's her easiest spellcard, if not the easiest one in the entire game. There's literally 0 thought process involved once you figure how her shots work... Tap-dodge, stay still, tap-dodge, stay still, tap-dodge...

Does this game give you the whole "guitar hero eye" syndrome? Stare at a scene moving towards you and when you look away the world seems to zoom ahead?

mmm well I actually beat Ran but not in a Perfect elegance way like u did I just went and assault Ran with my knowledge, I am not really used to watch this kind of tutorials but it amaze me the way you explain it all the time, for something like that u really have my respect!

Excellent walkthrough. I couldn't dream of doing this without deaths, let alone milking some of the spellcards for points.

The video (and its second part of course) helped a lot. Got as far as Ultimate Buddhist, at which I screwed up the dive and lost my last life, but still, it was much better than I did before.

You could say I'm amazed. It must've taken much practice and analysis to create such a video. I, myself, am trying to defeat the extra stage of this game, and this video greatly helped. So, thank you for posting this!

Yes, I put considerable effort on this because I don't want to do a halfway job.

Like, beating Extra without deaths (hardest part!), making a replay movie and putting elaborate descriptions on each spells. I almost felt like as if I was writing a discourse.

As for recording, I used a Japanese movie capturing software called "amarecco".

There's an English version too, and also there's a minor version (called "amareclite") that is specialized for DirectX games like Touhou.

You... are bloody amazing. Seriously, I've been practicing forever, and can't do jack in the extra's. Then I saw this... and while I still can't win (or even make it all that far), now that I know what to do, I'm making small progress.

I didn't even know there was all these tactics for the non-spells and for Chen.

Well, i don't think i'm ever gonna need them. I think its more fun to dodge Ran's non-spells (and Chens) by reading the bullets and dodging accordingly.

Oh and Chens 1st card is really simple. You need to stream horizontally while timing your movements so you don't hit the bullets. That's all.

Still, 5 stars for a video that can only be superbly useful for those who desires for the extra clear.

As for Chen's first spell, yeah, when I made this video I thought it might be hard for beginners to focus both sides while moving vertically, so it's like I just provided a simplest and easiest way to "skip" that spell.

I recently succeeded to capture every single spell in a whole run using Missile Marisa, and scored 885M. It was a fantastic experience.

Yes you can, you just need to be stubborn to beat any Extra stages, they ain't cheap chicks.

Why don't you start with building up a solid pattern until Chen? It's a "step by step" thing.

Hah, easiest Extra? EoSD and MoF is a lot easier than this. Although, that's just me...

EoSD Extra has the least extra lives possible on than any other Extra stages, and Flan has some tough spells that solely dependent on dodging skill (I'm better at building up patterns than dodging), on top of that, I've only beat EoSD Extra 4 times... she's just tough...

I personally find her spell cards fun to dodge. The more fun the spell card is, the easier I dodge it. I guess this is why I can easily capture the spell cards you can't shown on here. Blue Oni Red Oni is quite a challenging yet enjoyable spell card and Charming Siege from All Sides are fun.

Flandre has easy non-spell cards and fun spell cards. The only spells I have trouble on would have to be Maze of Love and Starbow Break.

I guess it's just me.

Oh, and now that I think about it, Charming Siege wasn't all that hard for me. It was simple dodging, and the hitboxes for the red bullets aren't that big at all.

Have you ever captured Red/Blue Oni? I know you have to stream it but the stray bullets from the previous wave always get me.

Also, thanks for the tips. Some of these spell cards are impossible if you don't know how to approach them.
