Their newer ads are designed to turn heads, nothing more. "Wow, that commercial was really deep! I'm gonna stop watching TV for maybe a day and then go buy what they told me to in the end. I'm a rebel, see?"
The fact that they're able to discredit themselves and continue to thrive only demonstrates how much power they hold.
This ad doesn't carry the stark wakeup message of the "Pageant" or "Grateful" converse ads. I hope they continue with advertisements that challenge audiences, potentially causing them to do more.
Expecting people to watch a silent commercial is a surprise; then to read words on the screen-I'm shocked. All this time, I thought foreign films weren't watched here in the states because Americans cant be bothered with subtitles. I can only imagine the confusion in the general public when their televisions suddenly went silent with this Converse ad. I would go so far as calling a Public service announcement. The only thing left is to wait and for a response, if it was read at all.
