hate to be the guy getting the moves tested on. seems like if he doesn't tap fast enough he could get some serious damage. lol and if the guy using the techniques accidentally goes overboard well lets just say it will not be a good day for the guy on the receiving end.
DONT THOSE GUYS KNOW WAT TAPOUT IS?!?!?!?!? jut some advice for all u jujustu people out there.... tapout. u use it when ur training with a person and ur in PAIN! just so u dont die.
i hate when they do this...if you look at the person at the defensive end he is not doing any thing to counter or get out of the offensive guys moves....in real fighting there would be way more punches and aggression.ITS NOT REALISTIC
The deference in BJJ and Japanese Jujitsu is that Brazilian style is more ground base for sport and Japanese style is more for combat and self-defense.
If I would chose either one I will chose Japanese Jujitsu because in a real fight taking the fight to the ground is a terrible ideal if your fighting more then one person.
The different spellings are simply caused by there being different ways to convert Japanese to English letters. Some methods came into and out of fashion at different times. Any deeper meaning than that is BS.
@jonbashni Anything can be used in MMA is applied correctly. There are not that many jujutsu practitioners in mma would be my guess, but go against one of these bad mofos and they'll find a way to put you in something
@Arealmarialartist1 Brazilian jiu jitsu is all about the ground game no standing at all takedowns and flying submissions and the clinch of course are the only standing moves jujutsu is self defense and nothing more with a lot of grappling Brazilian jiu jitsu is a sport, a martial art, and used in MMA a lot people commonly mistake Brazilian jiu jitsu for jujitsu and just say jiu jitsu as a individual thing but it's actually Brazilian jiu jitsu jujitsu could not be used in MMA as it is in my opin
@jin54363 because jujutsu/jiu jitsu is really a japanese name for a martial art style expressed by 2 kanji characters, so really for westerners the pronounciation is what counts. usually jujutsu/jujitsu would refer to the japanese style, and jiu jitsu to the brazilian derivative.
calm down kids. BJJ is not fit for street, it hurts like hell to start rolling your ass on asphalt. I do the sport, I know. I've come to a conclusion that it is much more convenient to know how to throw a punch and a low kick. If you encounter multiple opponents you better run for it, or you end up getting hurt, bad. But it doesn't hurt to know how to tackle or punch fast or kick someones leg so they can't catch you. Don't be a kid, be realistic.
Just a general question... How is BJJ "NOT" for "real life street self defense"? 1v1, anyone with BJJ experience is going to take you to the ground and break off one of your limbs or put your sorry ass to sleep. 1v? nothing can really train you to take on more than 1 opponent, besides track. I guess learning to run the 100m would be the only martial art that readies you for a gangrape defense.
I can't believe people think brazilians came up with ju jitsu. The japanese came with pretty much everything you see in brazilian ju jitsu. the only difference is that brazilians focus more on ground techniques than stand up. and thats realy its BJJ biggest flaw
@greenbay357 BJJ is derived from judo which itself is derived from jujitsu. Both BJJ and Judo are sport martial arts, and that's their approach, being a sport (even if their practitioners hate me for that). You can't compare a sport martial art with a self defense martial art.
I read the comments and lost all faith in humanity. I'd like to request that the next time you comment on something to have a little knowledge on the subject. In Japan all martial arts came from jujutsu, including this, Daito ryu Aikijujutsu, except for Karate.
No, it's actually as the uploader said: Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu. It is the style that Aikido pivots on, but this is mostly a focus on the Jujutsu aspects (which has had an impact on Jujutsu). Although their gis and the fact that they're demonstrating (not executing) the techniques hide this detail, these require more strength than Aikido uses. hello. i have a question. i've seen a few videos here on youtube bout jujitsu. now i wonder, in some videos shows techniques -like in this video, but in some shows agressive fighting on the floor.... does jujitsu have different ''ways'' of fighting and selfdefencing?
It's some of both. Jujutsu focus on techniques and individual moves, attacks against standing and grounded opponents, armed vs. unarmed, and even a bit of weapons training. Exactly what you get and how much emphasis is placed on each aspect depends on what school of Jujutsu you study. However, most have relatively equal emphasis on the first three.
@ladyDiix Consider jujutsu the parent martial art of every other art from japan. The texts contain everything. Karate, hapkido, aikido, you name it. However, No one person could master all it's aspects, So Schools have to pick something and focus on it. Practical Judo (as opposed to competition Judo) pretty much covers all of jujutsu, but focuses on the most efficient maneuvers. Brazilian jujitsu is basically a school that focuses on the grappling aspect of judo, which is the most practical
@goatpunchtheater You are a little off. Brazilian jujutsu is NOT practical and Judo isn't too much better. Judo came from Jujutsu it was a way to preserve the beauty of jujutsu and that part of Japanese history in a time where Jujutsu training was not allowed in Japan. Judo focuses on the throws and some of the grappling techniques for sport. Jujutsu has all Judo has to offer and much, much more. In my case, I study Aikijujutsu, where we have Aiki techniques on top of that.
I like the empty hands however the armed combat is lacking as with most traditional styles it doesn't compensate for realistic modern combat. I have yet to see someone (trained or not) attack and wait to be countered in such an obvious manner. However once unarmed the takedown and lock are very useful
Some techniques looks realistic and workable but the knife fighting ones dont, imo. Youd get hurt very easily if you tried to block a knife thrust like that. I like the arm locks, though.
@Jude30 not really because my grandpa was in the army he learned jujitsu and he says hes been attaked with knives many of times, and this works, he even showed me some techniques
@parlachinchilla This is Japanese Jujutsu. Jiu Jitsu is a western mispelling of the word, which is still used primarily in Brazil. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is really Judo ne waza.
@44excalibur Jujutsu and jiu jitsu are both simply English transliterations of the original Japanese. Both are correct. Brazilian jiu jitsu comes from Mitsuyo Maeda, who taught the Gracie family in the early twentieth century. I've read that judo and jujutsu were sometimes not distinguished at that time, which could explain why the Gracies use the word jiu jitsu. Also, there is no such thing as "Japanese jujutsu" as a single martial art.
@iplaysax Um, not exactly. "Jujustu" is the correct Hepburn romanization, as the word "Ju" in Japanese means "soft" or "flexible" -- as in the Karate style Goju Ryu, which means "hard/soft style" -- and "Jutsu" means "art" or "skill." "Jiu-Jitsu" is how the word sounded to western ears before the correct spelling and pronounciation was established. There is already a Japanese word "Jitsu" which is a shiatsu term meaning a fullness or excess of energy in a certain spot on the body.
@iplaysax I already know about Mitsuyo Maeda, and he originally called Judo by the name "Kano Jiu Jitsu"(after Judo founder Jigoro Kano) when he came to Brazil in order to avoid confusion, understanding that westerners were not famliar with the name Judo at the time. I only used the term Japanese jujutsu to specify what was in this vid, since many youtubers automatically think BJJ. Yes, there are several Ryu of Jujutsu(Hontai Yoshin Ryu, Takenouchi Ryu, Daito Ryu, Tenjin Shinyo Ryu, etc.)
@44excalibur I will have to add to that most brazilian jiu jitsu schools are really only judo ne waza however there is also a number of school that although brazilian, teach a lot of self defence. I train under a Relson Gracie black belt, and we train (stand up) self defence almost every class, and have the luxury to start rolling standing up and use a take down to start the rolling of. ps. I m not trolling I just thought you might appreciate some extra info on the subject :)
@jaraman9 Thanks.:) I know that BJJ is mainly Judo ne-waza(hence old school Judoka referring to it as "Basically Just Judo") due to Helio Gracie being too sick and weak as a boy to learn Judo's standing techniques as taught to older brother Carlos by Mitsuo Maeda. Helio focused on ne-waza, as it was easier for him to learn. And "Jitsu" does have a meaning. It's a term used in Japanese shiatsu therapy for a fullness or excess of energy in a part of the body, while "Kyo" is a lack of said energy.
Kotegaeshi it's bad executed... with more distance it's efective. why? I was attacked with a knife and I used with distance because if you are too close the other persona can punch you in the face. but your practice it's really good
What I cant stand is when people compare this or that to other stuff and say one is better than the other. I've heard comparisons and completes between this (or nihon jujutsu) to BJJ and taekwondo! How about this, if you want to be a good and well rounded martial artist, instead of doing one and bitching about the other, do ALL of them! TKD for the kicks and punches, this for the defensive stand up joint locks and techniques, and BJJ for being well rounded on the ground!
@Firzenmaker Should I make a new martial art called Mäntsälän Taekwondo, since everyone on the internet says taekwondo is pure sport, only kicks and no good for selfdefence? But the taekwondo we are taught is more like a combination of taekwondo, hapkido, judo, jujutsu, wrestling, boxing and savate.
@Roikonen94 well; you can of course use tae kwon do for self-defense; but keep in mind: high kicks and the wide foot posture like they are widely teached for sport is just useless or lets say more dangerous in self defense than styles, that are taught for self defense (kicking is okay; but the lower you kick the faster the kick will hit the target; the wider you open your legs the more the testicles will say "hit me" to the opponent).
@Roikonen94 and as long as people have fun in the systems they practise in there is not any "oh this sport is better than that" my point was not to declare that Taekwondo cannot be used in selfdefense; just that Jujutsu and Taekwondo do have great differences because Jujutsu is more used as a selfdefense than Taekwondo while Taekwondo usually is focused on the competition (well of course it was a military system a long time ago, and it could be used just as that again).
@Firzenmaker And since i do both; Tae Kwon Do AND Self-Defense i have to say; there are worlds between them, but i think both are just great; and i would not be as good as i am if i would not have trained in both (they both are having pro's and con's and since you can use pro's from either one you will be more flexibel)
But in the foreground it is not the style; that decides how good you can be, but it depends on yourself and how you train.
@jujutsufan Don't know about that, I'd say it's mostly the combination between taijutsu and kenjutsu, maybe more I am missing, but this is just the taijutsu part of it.
Yeah I know I was telling londonelvis to study nihon jujitsu... he said he was trying to think of which art to study. Agree completely about BJJ... while is has some merit.... all in all I think its mostly BS if it comes to any real life street self defense.
jujutsu, jujitsu, jiujitsu are all the same. They are not any sport by themselves. Just like martial arts isn't any sports. Anyway, jujutsu is a common name for japanese fighting skills. BJJ means brazilian jujutsu and is mostly grappling. You can read a lot about different jujutsu schools in the web..
Indeed. Although Jutsu I believe is the term for fighting, the spelling is just different area's of japan in the feudal times. The part before it I am taught is the style. Be it Ninjitsu, Jujitsu or otherwise.
I wouldn't however say most Jujitsu is a sport though. If you did it fully in any fight the fight would be over in a few seconds.
Like my Sensei says. If it comes to it in real life, don't bother being fancy. Snap something and get out of the situation immediately.
Very nice demonstration some minor critique though if i may be permitted. I am 7th dan w/39 yrs practioner 29 yrs Teacher of JJ so I do feel somewhat qualified in my pts in 0:54 I am concerned to challenge a Tsuki knife thrust with a punch leaving your femoral artery very vulnerable to quick slash. If the punch was countered by a simple cross block from the Left hand. As we know the head is most defended body part. Overall good tech. shihonage, Iriminage omote, ikkyo.
hate to be the guy getting the moves tested on. seems like if he doesn't tap fast enough he could get some serious damage. lol and if the guy using the techniques accidentally goes overboard well lets just say it will not be a good day for the guy on the receiving end.

10x better than taekwondo
the0riginaldon 2 years ago
@the0riginaldon im sorry to say that, but not the sport does.
the one who do it ;D also this goes more towards self defense, remember that tae kwon do is a pure competition sport
Firzenmaker 1 year ago 15
@Firzenmaker Should I make a new martial art called Mäntsälän Taekwondo, since everyone on the internet says taekwondo is pure sport, only kicks and no good for selfdefence? But the taekwondo we are taught is more like a combination of taekwondo, hapkido, judo, jujutsu, wrestling, boxing and savate.
Roikonen94 3 months ago
@Roikonen94 well; you can of course use tae kwon do for self-defense; but keep in mind: high kicks and the wide foot posture like they are widely teached for sport is just useless or lets say more dangerous in self defense than styles, that are taught for self defense (kicking is okay; but the lower you kick the faster the kick will hit the target; the wider you open your legs the more the testicles will say "hit me" to the opponent).
Firzenmaker 3 months ago
@Firzenmaker We use more like a boxing stance than horse stance. And we are taught low kicks quite extensively.
Roikonen94 3 months ago
@Roikonen94 and as long as people have fun in the systems they practise in there is not any "oh this sport is better than that" my point was not to declare that Taekwondo cannot be used in selfdefense; just that Jujutsu and Taekwondo do have great differences because Jujutsu is more used as a selfdefense than Taekwondo while Taekwondo usually is focused on the competition (well of course it was a military system a long time ago, and it could be used just as that again).
Firzenmaker 3 months ago
@Firzenmaker how the style is teached however depends on the school, the teacher and/ or the pupil ;) have a nice day =)
Firzenmaker 3 months ago
@Firzenmaker And since i do both; Tae Kwon Do AND Self-Defense i have to say; there are worlds between them, but i think both are just great; and i would not be as good as i am if i would not have trained in both (they both are having pro's and con's and since you can use pro's from either one you will be more flexibel)
But in the foreground it is not the style; that decides how good you can be, but it depends on yourself and how you train.

These are bad aikijutsu tehniques

These arent Aiki techniques, with the exception of the heaven and earth throw. They practice Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, which isnt ALL aiki movements.

@jujutsufan lol well your not looking hard enough.
Uberboy07 1 year ago
@jujutsufan Cause this is REAL jujutsu. Not just the groundwork, its everything defense!
ShinogiKosho 11 months ago
@jujutsufan I practicejujitsu, it's effective as hell ;) all we know.
But... in ground maybe brazilian jiujitsu has more training. But... you will never get in a floor fight on street with a good nage waza ;)
Great video btw
toastyzone 11 months ago
@jujutsufan Don't know about that, I'd say it's mostly the combination between taijutsu and kenjutsu, maybe more I am missing, but this is just the taijutsu part of it.

Go with nihon jujitsu if you can.
BrentShiver 2 years ago
@BrentShiver
Daito ryu is nihon jujutsu. Beside all jujutsu are japanese.
BJJ is actualy stand for Bullshit JuJujutsu and is more of a upgraded wrestling version.
tubetubetube 2 years ago 2
Yeah I know I was telling londonelvis to study nihon jujitsu... he said he was trying to think of which art to study. Agree completely about BJJ... while is has some merit.... all in all I think its mostly BS if it comes to any real life street self defense.
BrentShiver 2 years ago 7
@tubetubetube i agree with the BJJ it is bullshit and a load of bollocks my fav ju jutsu is aiki ju jutsu but i do prefer doing ninpo

whats the difference between jujutsu, jujitsu, jiujitsu and BJJ?
elbonykron619 2 years ago
Origins... and technique emphasis (groundwork, throws, stand-up, etc)
AmericanMonk247 2 years ago
jujutsu, jujitsu, jiujitsu are all the same. They are not any sport by themselves. Just like martial arts isn't any sports. Anyway, jujutsu is a common name for japanese fighting skills. BJJ means brazilian jujutsu and is mostly grappling. You can read a lot about different jujutsu schools in the web..
Ind3sign 2 years ago

Sir,
Very nice demonstration some minor critique though if i may be permitted.
Nice execution.
