My respect and affection for this particular heavy-metal guitarist are in place.

John 5 just seemed to magically appear in my guitar world. His arrival was a welcome addition to my collection of accomplished guitarists . . . .almost like a pleasant musical surprise. He has definitely earned his props in my lexicon of respected, able guitar players. I'm especially endeared to his playing form[s] because, unlike many of his contemporaries and peers, he is capable of picking finger-style

I absolutely despise the "better than" or all of these "my top 10..." comments and videos, but seriously, John 5 has GOT to be up there with the BEST of the BEST. He can play it ALL, yet makes it look SO easy, and from everything I have seen, he comes across as not only a spectacular musician, but as also a very cool person. His albums are insane, and it's great to see him be able to jam with so many diverse people. Thanks for continuing to inspire me, and I can't wait for what's next!

Just saw John5 in Massachusetts 10/17. His solo was unreal. I always loved guitar but never played. Week later after watching him live, i have my first electric guitar and currently working on getting rid of these pesky finger tips.

@John5Official Who writes the tabs for the tab books? I purchased a tab book for The Devil Knows My Name, and it's not very accurate at all. I'll watch John 5 play songs on The Devil Knows My Name DVD and look at the tablatures, and they're very different in some parts.

but if you got look at his fender signiture series they say the pickups arent dimarzio ..

its Fender Enforcer™ humbucking pickup

and the other signiture fender with 3 pickups are some other fender custom..

so idk ...

he only put them in his prototype recently, his squier guitar is modeled on that spec/sound though, his official signatures don't use them but i'd imagine that will change in a year or so

yeah thats weird and I've seen ads with him in guitar world for dimarzio. But maybe there is fender pickups on his signature model. The guitar in this video is a prototype, he uses it everywhere, so maybe its only D activators in this particular guitar...?

Albert Lee played on one of John's earlier albums. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of years ago and Albert was full of praise for John's work. Albert is a fantastic bluegrass performer though - I don't think my jaw moved off the floor
