shut the fuck up all of you retards all you guys have to do around your house is talk shit its not even your fish so mind your own businesses you no lives!
he's been in prison for 43 years. after 20 years you would think they would took pity on him and put him in a larger tank. unless, they the fish doent know any better. he has been coniditioned to enjoy his prison. I am not sure if fish are luck other animals that need company. I would have drop him a nice young thing of his kind to ravish once every two or three years. no one should leave this earth without getting laid one.
Steve proudly tell this fish is a member of his family. I just wanna ask "Is this the way you treat your family member?" It's look like keeping your brother in a cell.
it's an old fish for the people that say "u don't treat your Family like that" just look in an old folks home. Most people treat old people like garbage, this fish is fine.
For those of you who don't know, he would love to give him a bigger tank. But after so many years, he's afraid the stress would kill him. I wouldn't move him either. This fish has lived longer than any others in captivity. He also has some problems due to age. But obviously he gets good care or he wouldn't have lived so long. There are a few acceptable reasons to keep a fish in too small of a tank. And this is one of them.
@SmokeNLark NO SIR.... that fish at age 10 needed a bigger tank...yes he should leave it now because he might loose it due to stress but that fish NEEDED A BIGGER TANK OVER 30 years ago
@yostar69 1. why does everyone assume that everyone on the internet is a man? 2. I never said that he didn't need a bigger tank before. Yes he should have. But at this point, it would do more harm than good.
@SmokeNLark sorry miss lol I agree but what I don't agree is that this guy owns a pet store and he should been taking care of his fish, that fish needed a bigger tank a long time ago now its to late, so who's fault is it?. He can't move it now of coarse but he should have MOVED it awhile go
i've come to a conclusion why he doesn't have a bigger tank its because he is not federally funded/or we haven't developed a welfare system for fishes or assisted living for them, Thats why The tank is that size if the fed government got involved this thing would be in a fish tank mansion paid for by the tax payers, then again after 44 years you think he would have gotten a loan to purchase a very nice tank for his "son" heck he probably could have gave "buttkiss" a window view. keep ur gills up
this petstore is right buy my house been there a few times, and yes the tank seems pretty small for such a grown fish i think its like a 30g tank but maybe they do alot of water changes for him
@gydur1 If he changes the tank this fish has been in for 43 years the amount of stress that would causs would kill the fish and if it was truly torture the fish would have died many years ago
@gydur1 if it was bullshit that fish wouldnt have lived this long and the owner would have obviously upgraded his tank if it was necessary, the owns a bussiness FILLED with tanks bigger than that one lol
With a fish that old, you'd probably cause more stress for the fish by moving it then you would leaving it in that tank. Besides, obviously for the thing to live for 43 years, the tank size is not bothering it.
yes he could use a bigger tank however he seems very happy and i dont know that many 43 yr old fish. also i love how this amazingly old fish is named buttkiss!! hilarious
??? he might have not been in that tank all those years and now its like being in a retirement home so they can keep an eye on him, my pacu i move between a 100 gal and 265 and he has no prob with either tank these are really stress less fish
@iownupkr66 i like how u say that his fish must have a shity life well first of all its lived in that tank for 43 years and is happy if that fish life suck it would have died off along time ago also y would u try to promote your video of your fish smiwing around i bet non of your fish can live up to 10 years in that crowded tank
@iownupkr66 if you knew your fish you would know that a pacu will eat plants in the tank even plastic plants also y would a big fish like that need decor in the tank
I wish people would pull their heads out of their asses and stop believing what they read on the fucking internet... There is nothing SAD about this story, infact its inspiring.. Lemme ask you something... you would think that after 43 years of being crowded and stressed that the fish just "MIGHT" kick the bucket or show signs of disease... That 43 year Crowded fish looks better then some of the 1-2 year old IN THEIR PRIME fish.
@34SkiLLz14Luck They say goldfish need 1 gallon of water per inch, most goldfish grow to 8-10 inches in maturity.. that means 1 goldfish Per 10 gallon tank. How many times have you seen 6-10 goldfish in a 30 gallon tank? Right. And to top it off.. who are "they" anyways? Who decides how much water one needs? that fish could swim around and move freely no problem. and hes by himself. i dont see where you guys think this is "sad" or "cruel" hes 43 for christ sakes.
@34SkiLLz14Luck that rule is complete bullshit. that is like saying you can put a great white shark in your pool.it could move but it wouldnt be happy. they need to swim around.
Why the hell would you put a fish that you know can get up to 2ft long in that tiny ass tank? You should sell him so someone can put him in a big ass tank like 75+ gallons or you can do that so he can live out the rest of his life in a nice tank!!!! for having a pet shop you sure don't know what you are doing.
@MrScottieboy23 pretty sure that is a 75, its a 4 foot tank and it looks a bit wider than a 55. i think its safe to assume you dont have a clue about fish keeping, anyone keeping a fish for 43 years knows what they are doing. again to all the complainers, stop assigning human traits to a fish, if he was not content with his living arrangements, he would not have lived that long.
@nicland88 Yes, that's quite a choice, like the tank or die. Fish know how to commit suicide.
You can keep something healthy, without it being too happy about. Look at chickens in cages. They can keep putting out eggs, but they barely even get a chance to move. Happy?
How about cats in shelters. They live. Are they happy stuck in a cage?
Living is no indication the creature is happy. I'm sure he wouldn't hate having more space. 43 years old? He deserves it.
If he is indeed "apart of the family" then get him a bigger tank. I doubt you would confine your son or another family member to a closet. So why keep him in such a small tank?
@speedmaster001 It does not matter if the fish never moves at all,he should have the option to move around as much as he wants. The tank is way to small for that big fish. If a dog never moved you wouldn't keep him in a kennel for all his life. That fish barely has enough room to turn around. I stand by my previous post. I feel sorry for the fish.
Those idiots running that shop should have gotten it into a much larger tank about 42 years ago. It should be around 36" long by now and living in at least a 600 gallon (96x48x33"). Who knows how long it might have been able to live if it had been properly taken care of throughout its entire life?
All your knowledge and internetz thug comments are for not.. And everything you have to say as advice is null.. Why? This pacu in his care has lived TWICE as long as any pacu should live, than in a bigger tank or in the wild.
@clockcycles Judging by the pacu's horrendous living conditions, it is pretty obvious that its longevity has been a result of genetics rather than care. So I'd say these "internet thug comments," are quite a bit more valid than your ignorant retort.
FORTY THREE YEARS OLD AND THE FISH IS JUST ABOUT 2 FEET LONG??? PACUS ARE SUPPOSED TO GROW TO ABOUT 4 FEET!!! WHERE THE HELL IS PETA WHEN U NEED 'EM!!!
Try giving it a suitable sized tank, you knob! What message is this sending to your customers? Nothing but irresponsible pet ownership! When it turns around, you can see it's face on the front glass as it bends it's tail to fit: It's longer than the tank is wide!
hey man u really need like a t least a 200 gallon tank or better yet a pond to kep him in! u run a pet store come on bro, u know right from wrong, it is so wrong and cruel for your fish to live in confined conditions1
theres to much of a risk to move a fish of this size to a bigger tank shes better off to stay put right where shes at if possible my buddy had to really old pirranuhas he tried to move them one died after transfer and the other jumped out of the net and injured its gill it lived another month then died from the injury. very nice pacu though
well ya wonder if ya coulda got him a bigger tank after all that time but hey u must be doin somethin right thats insane for a pacu to live that long

FORTY THREE YEARS OLD AND THE FISH IS JUST ABOUT 2 FEET LONG??? PACUS ARE SUPPOSED TO GROW TO ABOUT 4 FEET!!! WHERE THE HELL IS PETA WHEN U NEED 'EM!!!

what a moron, if you wanted to really appreciate a fish like that you should stop being a cheap ass and put him in a bigger tank.
Jokes on you....

wow i had a red belly pacu for 5.5months now and he is like a that size or maybe even bigger
iLikETurtleS1029 4 months ago
Yea he needs a bigger tank, but for it to live 43 years in that tank?
I'm pretty sure its sufficient and happy, if it is at all stressed he would of died 30 years ago.
Swarsh 5 months ago 22
Build him a tank that is 3 times larger that little shit tank.
muscleandtan 5 months ago
WOW! 43 years their life span is only (10) to (15) years. i've had mine only (5) i suppose he's only a baby to that.
stuartpatto1976 5 months ago
Obviously, you're doing something right, since he's alive after 43 years.

Try giving it a suitable sized tank, you knob! What message is this sending to your customers? Nothing but irresponsible pet ownership! When it turns around, you can see it's face on the front glass as it bends it's tail to fit: It's longer than the tank is wide!

you own a pet store and you dont even give him right set up, your sad.

theres to much of a risk to move a fish of this size to a bigger tank shes better off to stay put right where shes at if possible my buddy had to really old pirranuhas he tried to move them one died after transfer and the other jumped out of the net and injured its gill it lived another month then died from the injury. very nice pacu though

43 years in that little tank, isn't that a proof that some fish accually can live and be just fine in small tanks? :)
SvampusFish 11 months ago
Cool fish but he does need a bigger tank. :)
Fishbowl4QB 1 year ago
pacu's don't count. They are lake fish who don't even belong in pet stores.
lilfishywishy19 1 year ago
if that fish is "a part of his family" he must treat his family like shit.. cus that poor fish can barely turn around in that tank
