@SockeysAlliance u may have put it as your main desktop screen u will need to go to your controal pannel and got to display and playaround with your screen settings. (be shore to make a restore point on your pc/laptop for if your settings go wrong)

I'm on windows 7, and when i click on "extend blah blah blah" it just comes up with a small section of the wall paper on my secondary monitor, and nothing on the laptop. I'm using a new 22" monitor.

Hey, I plug my moniter (which is fairly new) into my laptop (also new) but nothing happens. "Check signal cable" comes up on the other moniter, that's it. I checked the cables, they are both connected perfectly. Know anything that could help?

@5seahawk5 I'm not sure to be honest. Do you have another laptop or monitor? If you do, I would check to see if the cable works that way because if not you might just need to buy a new cable.

If vista on your key board press START BUTTON (ussualy next to ALT) then while holding down the START BUTTON press X

if the WINDOWS MOBILITY CENTER window pops up click CONNECT DISPLAY

Yes, although it's very slightly different. Go ahead and plug your monitor in to your Windows 7 computer, then press the Windows key and the 'P' key together. A little pop up should come up, click Extend and it should activate the second display.

so if you hook to ur laptop, could you just take it back out and hook it 2 ur other computer again and everything be the same on the other computer (i'm talkin bout my dads tower desktop, not laptop). Plus when you hook it back up to ur laptop, will it still be the same if you had an icon on the second screen, will it would still be there?

No, the monitor doesn't remember anything about being connected to different computers. It just displays whatever the computer it's connected to says, nothing transfer over when you hook it to different computers.

Not normally, although I don't know whether there's some way to do it.

It should, although I've ever tried it so I can't say for sure. Just take a look at your Mac and see which ports it has and compare to your monitor. If it doesn't match up, you can sometimes get different cables.
