1st of all: lovely selection of cuts. Personally, I thought the "colour" seasons didn't quite match up to the B/W episodes.

Now, something I haven't read much comment on: Of course, I had a huge crush on Emma Peel and wanted to BE John Steed, BUT, aside from that, do people realize that the combination of humor and surrealism in The Avengers made it a ground-breaking show that the US would not get hip to until The Man from UNCLE, and Batman? Absurdity, and yet a human quality.

I couldn't stand wimpy, weak heroines in old movies that were helpless and couldn't defend themselves. They drove me nuts. That's why, when I watched "The Avengers" back in the '60s, I thought Mrs. Peel was so good.

I kind of remember the episode with the multiple crazy rooms that changed all the time. But I don't remember how Mrs. Peel got out of it - or even what that place was.
