  • Move aside, Great Mighty Poo. You've finally got some competition.

  • This boss's difficulty comes from one thing-the fact that you want to keep him and his song alive, so you allow him to regenerate his health as much as he can.

  • I literally had to pause the game at this point just to laugh. I recognize most of the terms in this song, so I know it doesn't make sense, but that makes it even funnier!

  • "What in Sam hell..."

  • According to another comment, on another video, it does have meaning. check here. I recognize some of them as Italian Music Theory Terms. youtube.com/watch?v=V5XJtGx36bI

  • I've never fought a boss that's more hilarious. I gotta thank Oluapplayer for recommending this game with his taste in music. :D

  • @Bizzarick. The composer is Russian-American, not Japanese. :-)

  • The song is all Italian musical terms. Like what you'd see in a piano book. It was done that way so it could be localized for any country without having to write multiple soundtracks. It's why the characters speak nonsense as well. Also, Gene is a giant classical music nerd so he was being humorous. (I'm his wife)

  • @beingvenus Your the wife of the composer of this? Wow, thats cool.

  • But i don't wanna sing D:

  • Yup, that's Italian... mostly musical terms. What I could gather from it (already a huge feat considering the Japanese accent mixed with English pronunciation)

    cortatto, stacatto e fortissimo!

    rubato, alegro, ou la la!

    agilmente per recorgino (?)

    smorfiosso! tesetura!

    largamente gaudeoso!

    stracci, galando, normal(?)

    largamente imitando...

    imperioso di colccia (?)!

The words with (?) mean I didn't quite get the word so... I just made up something whith what I know from my Italian classes.

  • @Bizarrick although they make no sense in a formal way like "Ho rubato qualcosa, che mi ha alegratto et... c'était incroiyable!" The words kinda tell a story or describe the character like: "cut, torn and strong!" or "continuously joyful!"

Maybe the Japanese composer was a bit too lazy to learn propper Italian. Maybe it was a clin d'oeil for classic mussicians... maybe he pulled the entire thing outta his... ahem!

  • @Bizarrick the writer is American and it's music theory terms.

  • @Bizarrick

Actually, he is like telling Hatsworth what a real man is: a singer. Telling the musical terms he knows(or actually exist). And then, he says that he performs all that stuff fastly and like a pro.

  • @Bizarrick the vocalist is from Orlando, Florida.

  • Why is he singing about smores, Ace Attorney music, and piano terms? XD

Really, what's the lyrics, even if they make no sense?

  • I really the ending cutscene. It showed that Banson didn't need a full head of hair to be a true gentleman.

  • the funny thing is, all the lyrics are just words used in music theory. Like fortissimo is a dynamic of music.

  • I don't think it's that they didn't care as much as they were mocking Banson for being a total fake.

  • hey koen? this battle theme you can hear is an opera theme which means opera is related to the italian people soooo the song IS italian! just listen for the italian accent!

  • I just played this boss fight yesterday. It really caught me off guard by how well it was done.

  • I also love how you can download the OST for free LEGALLY!

  • I really need to get this game! It looks good, it's got great music, and it's got rave reviews. Plus, I love puzzle games and platformers, so combining the two sounds like a win to me.

  • I say gentlemen, what a glorious theme. Befitting of a true gentlemen, a shame that Banson is more preoccupied with chasing skirts rather than more gentlemanly pursuits.

    *smokes pipe*

  • Don't stare at his chin for too long. You'll... you'll see something unpleasant...

  • You probably meant:

"Don't stare a his chin for too long, you'll turn into a man!"

  • I still need to get this game. Especially now that I've heard THIS!

  • easy boss....but, nice track

  • IGN called this the best boss theme ever.

  • For a reason.

  • Handheld game of the year.

  • this game was better than your life

  • I loved this game, it was a neverending rollercoaster of awesome and gentlemaliness.

    Good show!

  • @cambaprecoz

well not really neverending it DID have a conclusion

  • Fuck! now I want to become a gentleman!

  • Love this game!!

The biggest surprise on DS this year!

  • This game is a pure pack of awesome! The first time I saw this I tought it was going to be another kiddy kitsch.Lol,the irony. The stages are really challenging(as in 90's platformers),the gameplay is great and the lead character can TRANSFORM INTO A FCKIN GOLDEN KILLER ROBOT!!!Also, the bosses are unique(not to mention their crapload of life).Heh,poor Banson and his little dirty secret.

  • The lyrics are just random italian words, they don't mean anything.

  • actually, they're musical terms. allegro, fortisimo, staccato. There is a vid somewhere of the lyrics translated.

  • As a musician, I'm well aware of that, but what I meant was that the lyrics as a whole have no deep meaning to them.

  • Of course not. That ego king Banson is just showing off his beautiful voice. Wasn't that obvious by now? lol

  • When you put it that way, it works.

  • Disappointing, but good to know.

  • An epic song for an epic boss fight.

*gets on a little pony and rides away*

  • This is the best track in the entire game <3

  • HAAHHAHAHA BALDY (who knew he wore a you-know what*)

    *dont want to spoil

  • Man, I sound immature

  • I'm italian, but i don't understand that song.I think are italian words (with english enunciates)...the worlds in quotes doesn't have sense. the first part is: "Tortato", Staccato, in Fortissimo!

    "Verbato", Allegro, Oh La La!

"Largilmente", Che "Recordino", Smorfioso "Teseturo"!"The second part (i think) is something like:

"Garbamente, "Gardeloso", Stragi "Calando una rota",Largamente, In tondo, "Inveri so di colcia"(?). Certain i can say...that lyrics have no sense (sorry for my english).

  • I dont know why but of all the boss themes so far I've heard on this game I really like this one, I guess it was because i didnt expect it to be so epic when you were fighting him!

  • "Tortato, Staccato, in Fortissimo!

    Verbato, Allegro, Oh La La!

    Largilmente, Che Recordino, Smorfioso Teseturo!"

Holy fuck, I didn't even notice half of these are italian music terms when I heard the piece! That's pretty damn awesome.

    *Cough.*

Anyway, You've seen the british answer to robotonink and the corpse bride, now meet...

    THE BRITISH JONNY BRAVO!

... Well, I though it worked...

  • P.S. If anyone actualy want's to know some of the words, I can just about work out the first two lines...

"**** (No idea, sorry.) Play Detached in Extra loud!

Wobbled voice, (Best discription I can come up with...) Fast, Oh la la!"

... So, yeah. It means nothing, really.

  • I was SHOCKED at the conclusion of this fight, HOW could his hair NOT BE REAL?!?

  • Mutated Headcrab from Half Life.

  • I looooove this song!! Anyone knows who sang this piece?

  • Nevermind, found out it was Peter Lehman ^^

  • Damn, he's good.

  • you can't refight bosses?

    damn

  • Henry Hatsworth for Prime Minister.

  • Hopefully he'd still talk in little 'what wut' 's =)

  • Finally a politician that will speak its mind!

  • Tortato, Staccato, in Fortissimo!

    Verbato, Allegro, Oh La La!

    Largilmente, Che Recordino, Smorfioso Teseturo!

Cool in a dumb way =]

  • Is it me or this is one of the few bosses that can make you waste your Robot Suit power up? I mean, when I activated it I found out that he would just run away and send the anchor.

  • This's got almost no translation. What it practically says is that Banson is handsom, strong and idiot. The rest is mostly blabbering ("Allegro, Oo-la-la")

  • It actually means nothing, they're just random words referring to his beauty, elegange, thefts and what not.

  • Henry FUCKING Hatsworth!!

  • Doraaaaato stacatooooo illlll fortiiiiisimooooooo.

  • Real men don't fight. THEY SIIIIIIIIING!

  • @CaptainFawful but i don't wanna sing D:

  • I was just impressed they included (faux) opera singing in this boss battle. I actually slowed down my battle with Banson so I could listen to it longer.

But his battle was pretty easy IMO and much shorter than Lady D's. I think it's cos I was able to keep popping tea-time and start wailing on him easier XD

  • FORTISSIMOOOOOOOO

  • Banson is the secret star of that great game ;)

  • GOD i love this boss! I lolled so hard. I nfact, pretty much all the bosses so far have made me lol. does anyone know if its possible to refight bosses... maybe like, after u beat it or something?

  • Somebody you told me you can re-fight them after you beat the game.

I can't confirm that, though, because I overwrote my cleared file with Gentleman Mode right away.

  • @KoenVanBeeck

I tried that, It only sends you back before the final boss. Shame, they should work on doing that in the sequel (which HAS to exist)

  • I think maybe at 100% u could, but not just by beating the final boss.

  • @MurrayRavenhall I've beaten the game in both Normal and Gentleman mode 100%, as far as I am aware, you cannot refight the bosses. ;_;

  • This track made a fun boss battle absolutely AWESOME.

  • Gentlemen...

  • THAT GENTLEMAN'S A SPY!

  • I actually though banson was harder then Lady D, Banson killed me like twice while I never died against Lady D. Banson had some pretty cool attacks as well.

  • Everything he sings is, in fact, a musical term, the vast majority of them Italian. This whole fight is parody, and awesome parody at that. Absolutely my favorite boss fight of the game.

  • I'm pretty sure it's just a bunch of random Italian/Latin words.

Some are musical terms (staccato, fortissimo ,etc. )

  • I just fought Banson last night and i Have to say it has been a true highlight of the game so far. It made the battle all the more interesting. I do agree LADYD was a lot tougher. I had more FUN fighting Lance. Too bad you can't go back and fight him again. Does anyone else think this game is actually a little bit harder than they expected? I find myself repeating levels to get enough money for upgrades. The enemies are brutal in this game. LOVE the puzzles.

  • I didn't find Lady D (I'm pretty sure D stands for 'Death') harder than Banson... They both were easy. Banson has tougher henchmen, but is stunned when you attack him and lots of his attacks require him to pose like an idiot.

However, they actually managed to get me out of the explorer suit in Banson's fight, something that Lady D couldn't do.

Nevertheless, Banson's fight was epic and silly at the same time. And that is pretty badass, even though it was so easy.

  • My God, the first thing I thought upon seeing the enemies was that the game was going to be a walk in the park. How terribly wrong I had been. I hate the skull faced ones, not only they take a crapload of hits and some cheap shots, they even have their very own color in the puzzle realm!

  • Banson is not a hard boss at all, but I don't think difficulty was the point. No, I think it was comedy

And boy does it succeed. My favorite boss by far, haha.

  • Yeah, I think LadyD was actually harder than this guy.

It's kind of too bad -because- he was so awesome.

Surely they could've added a few more funny moves, or made his moves a bit more effective.

  • I thought the musical notes were a nice touch.

  • I never let any of the musical blocks reach the top of the puzzle. Do they actually do anything if you let that happen?

  • No, but if you match them, he gets trampled by fat fangirls. =D

  • If they reach the top of the screen, then fangirls will surround him and recover some of his health.

  • @KoenVanBeeck i think Banson was the easiest boss, but then there's the Captain...

  • No, but it shouldn't take too long to download the entire thing, unless you're on dial up. Then just delete the tracks you don't want.

  • lawl, I love the lyrics.

    Tortato, Staccato, in Fortissimo!

    Verbato, Allegro, Oh La La!

    Largilmente, Che Recordino, Smorfioso Teseturo!

Something like that that, anyway. They get less and less sensible as the song goes on.

  • I recognize most of the lyrics as music notation/music theory terms, but towards the end they start sounding like totally made-up Italian words... are they just made up, or does the song actually have "lyrics" the whole way through?

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, that's the impression that I got.

I'm sure there are terms I misspelled because I didn't recognise them (my musical education is somewhat limited), but some of them sounded purely fictional, as you say, towards the end.
