You need a lot of power, because you loose about 25% of the cars power if you´re getting on top. the air is getting thinner, the higher you go! So the car cannot express its full power. like you if you´ld try to climb a mountain. same thing.

This is a '96, yes? I know for a fact that in '95 the Escudo ran as a twin-engined car, with two 1.6 liter straight-four engines with IHI RX6 turbochargers, each running 450ps for a grand total of 900. Back then Suzuki didn't have a large capacity engine they could get the power they needed out of, so they went for two 1.6 engines.

Don't put all Americans in the same boat. I am American and I own a 350z when I could have just as easily walked across the street and bought a Mustang. Not all Americans are racist, and not all American cars are pieces of shit. The reason American cars "blow up" at pikes peak is because when you slide a car through a corner the engine revs very high, most American V8s rev to 5000 to about 6000rpm before bouncing off of the revlimiter. And lots of American cars handle great.
