  • this router served me well pretty fast im now on their best model the e4200 its the best ive used

  • The only thing I hate about this router design is tht is has terrible ventilation. My WRT160N died from overheating and my E3000 almost did 2. I built a cooling device for it. These things should really have fans built in.

  • @MLGProXBuddy175X agree with u the 160n does get hot ive put it ontop of my haf 932's top exaust fan not more heat probs

  • @asus3571 ya i have my 160n on top of my Antec 900 case's exhaust fan now. (only the wifi died in it so now im using it as a bridge) For my E3000, I took an old PSU, cut a hole the size of a 120mm case fan in the top, put a 120mm case fan there to blow the air into the E3000, wired it to a USB, and plugged it into one of those USB charger things like the iPhone comes with. I have it running 24/7 and the router stays cool to the touch.

  • Linksys E3000 is better .

  • i love the access restrictions and qos settings of this router, i highly recommend this for port blocking if one computer is using torrents...

  • unplug your router for a few seconds or more then plug it back. That usually works.

  • i have 2 laptops on wireless and now 1 of my laptops wont connect.it saids im connected but no internet access.but my other laptop works fine someone plz help me?

  • @MrMassacre007 had that prob a couple times last nigh as a matter just unplug your modem then unplug your router 4 a min plug back in will detect

  • my dlink dgl4500 is way betta

  • I have version 3 of this router, picked it up at a yard sale for $8, flashed to dd-wrt and its been fine for 4 months now. I did have alot of initial setup issues with a verizon dsl modem but once I got it to work it has been rock solid ever since.

  • Hi. You sound a lot like Neil Patrick Harris. O, and I was wondering,, did you put DD-DRT on that? thanks!

  • i have the same exact router as you man but where is the wep key man if its on the bottom which bar code plz respond back

  • @MLG, even older, it's a Dell 8300 pent 4 , 2.66 gz. It refuses to die. U should write or film a review of your linksys router. My experiences with this one was terrible. It died a few months after I made this video.

  • @hikaruvf1s i have this one too....i play mw2 online and i lag a lot when ever somone else is using the internet, if i buy a different ( better) one, will that make me have less lag ?

  • @hikaruvf1s my WRT160N still works, the wifi just doesnt work. Now I just use it as a switch (disabled DHCP server on it) so it would work with my E3000. Which do u want me to review? the WRT160 or the E3000? I'll do both if u want :)

  • @hikaruvf1s i got a dell 8400 haha good pc tho

  • I had that router, recently upgraded to the E3000. Is that a Dell Dimension 8400 under it? lol

  • I have the same router and instead of the icons that are numbered "1-4" being blue they are yellowish. Help?

  • Comment removed

  • can you make a video on how to set it up because i bought it (well my dad did) and i dont know how to set it up. best buy is closed and my dad is not very good at setting stuff up :)

  • will this work whit my ps3?

  • is it fast? is it good for watching online movies? what are the cons?(excluding that it has no UBS ports) ^__^

  • I have the same router but I installed the DD-WRT firmware, better range now, way more customizable.

  • umm SOMBODY HELP ME where is the aoss button???

  • keeps fucking dropping wireless connection and you have to reset a lot

  • how to run 300mbps on that

  • @mrahman0205 u cant. it only has a 2.4 gHz bandwidth. which means if ur lucky, u can get 130mbps. u need a router with a 5gHz bandwidth like the E2000 (has 2.4 OR 5) or the E3000 (which has both 2.4 and 5) and a Wireless N 5gHz compliant card/adapter for ur computer.

  • i think 610n is better

  • which 1 is better 160n or 400n

  • I was trying to decide between this router and the Linksys WRT310N, which is a gigabit router.

This one is selling for $69.99 CAD and the 310N is selling for $99.99 CAD.

The only real difference is the gigabit part (?). I need to set up stable connections for XBOX Live, 2 Office Computers (email and such) and 2 Video Streaming/Online Gaming computers. I'm running an old DI-524 D-Link and the video takes forever to stream and online gaming lags terribly. Help?

  • @DJK290 If u didn't find a good router yet, I would recommend the E3000. It has gigabit ports, perfect for HD movie streaming, 2.4gHz and 5gHz Bands running at the same time, and up to 300mps on N or A networks. I have an xbox 360 wired and I have an Open NAT all the time now. Price: $179.99 USD Its well worth it believe me.

  • i just got mine today and..id have to say

IDK HOW TO SET IT UP lol

    please help?

  • on the box for the wrt 160n it says u need atleast internet 6 do u have to have it well that could help u decide if it works or not

  • when you're setting this up do you need to plug it into a phone jack?

  • what do i need if i want to use this with a cable internet coming out from my wall?

what type of adapter do i need?

  • What's up man? Just got one of those, and was wondering what is a good modem to compliment it?

  • Don't know, at the time that I owned this router, I had a Zhone DSL modem. It was the freebee I got when I signed up for Caviler ISP.

  • @Madzarzour i am thinking the same thing, what modem should i get? did you find one? i have this router, i like it but it does drop signal a lot. i think i may have it connected wrong. my computer is wired straight to the router, and it also connects wirelessly. i dont think that is the best way to connect. i want it wired.

  • I'm just using my old modem. I heard the Motorola SB6120 SURFboard® DOCSIS® 3.0 Cable is a really good modem to be used as default. But yea, I been getting dropped as well.

  • is this router great for gaming?? i mean while on cable.

  • @ashrocks87 Of course it will be :) Dang I used an old d-link for gaming, but I bought this routor now wow... big difference :O and even with no external antenna the wireless range is fantastic. you can get it on ebay for like 34 dollars

  • @alabaska182

    i already have one now!

i changed the router's firmware to dd-wrt and tadah! super router

  • @ashrocks87 How do you like yours for range in wireless?

  • @alabaska182

the router's on our 2nd floor

it can reach our third floor as well (different house types)

and i use my cellphone for wifi inside the room where the router is.

i only turn on the router when i use my pc by the way

  • @ashrocks87 any router is good for gaming just majke sure that you have your gaming shit set on high priority

  • I have a wireless G . Has 17 MB . But the N only gives me 10-13 Mb why?

  • can i make use of the higher bandwidth even if my wireless adapter is "g"

  • Nope. Wireless networks only run as fast as the slowest component.

  • thanks for the reply.

and what about the range? will this give more range than, say, WRT54G2 (even though my adapter is g)

  • not true yes this one eg if u have lets say 2 machines useing n and 1 using g then yes all conections will drop to g but there are linksys routers that support simultanious conection wher it doesnt matter whats connected if if n and g machines are connected then n runs at n and g runs at g speeds but they are very pricey i have this router and its been fantastic no lag my son games online with his ps3 and youd never know it was wireless even with my wifes pc connected wich is g and laptop also g

  • I my dad has linksys

    wireless N

make srue u set to wireless G/B

for wii DS and iPod touch also PSP

if u set it to wireless N that won't work on wii DS PSP and iPod touch

I hope this wii work guys

  • make sure you dont get v2!

  • This router is total shit. Its really hit and miss. Got 1PC 3 Laptops and a wii in the house. Currently is only working on 1 laptop...... crap Linksys is crap

  • umm wtf are you on linsys has some of the best modems/routers in the world

  • @cunt6723

    "their"

how can anybody take you seriously?

  • Ahh Macross fan. You should know that wrt54g is worth money because you can put custom firmware on it and improve hardware performance ten-fold.

  • @gnorac You can put DD-WRT on the WRT160N v3 as well.

  • worst fucking router. dont ever get this shit. i hate linksys. get a fucking d link, much better, costs less. i cant friggin connect the wireless, but the friggin wired works, which is not what i bought this for. linksys sucks. my psp wont even connect to it, or even detect it.

  • hey do you guys think i should get the wrt160n or the wrt610n do you think its worth the extra 100 dollars for the 610n

  • should have put dd-wrt on the wrt54g and upped the power. I own both 320n and wrt54gl.

  • Do u know any device that will pick up a wifi signal from my router ( router is downstairs) and strengthen it without Ethernet cable???

  • any computer installation required or can i just plug it in connect it to my modem and be on my way. i just got a dell note book and i need a wireless router. i've had me eye on this router and plan to swing by best buy and pick it on friday.

  • i just bought this router and i hooked it up it worked perfect for like one day, then it kept crashing and crashing now i tried running the set up and cant get it to work, it keeps telling me all this crap. please help please.

  • Take it back and get a WRT320n and it will work flawless. The 160n and 310n have disconnect issues that linksys wont admit or fix. Wal-Mart had the 320n's on sale for $109

  • I upgraded the firmware on my wrt160n V2 to " v2.0.03 build 007Jul 2, 2009".

Cocksucker still disconnects couple times a day.

    Fcuk man!

  • LMAO!

  • I'm getting this puppy :P

  • Is that router good for streaming video's onto your laptop either live video or youtube, for a macbook pro?

  • i have that

  • got this from bestbuy. i paid for the router and Geek Squad hooked it up for free.

  • Will this work for my PS3 ???

  • yes

  • It should work on any wi-fi enabled device which supports 802.11 N, G, and B.

  • Yes. I just set it up yesterday to my PS3 and Nintendo Wii and I have to tell you, I noticed no difference playing on line as far as the response time. Very nice router, easy to set up and really cool looking too. Can't go wrong with this puppy.

  • How did you set up your wrt160n to your nintendo wii??? I'm having an extremely hard time connecting these two :/

    Help me!!

  • ok first make sure it is on then go to your wii and go to settings, internet, connection wireless than click on your username for yur router, by turning it on make sure the plug is in correctly and all the wires and leave your computer on

  • Yeah, I could not get it online for two days. Local but no Internet. Then I unplugged the power to the mainbox for a couple of minutes. I pressed and held button on front and pressed the reset button on the back for a good moment. Together. Then it worked. Up till then. I tried everything. It did install in just minutes, close to 1000 of them. Also, it is not a secure connection.

  • i am using Linksys WAG160N Adsl2+ N wireless router gateway good and gaining this router noise ration 32.8 and in old one shiro modem 28 so this router good for me

  • i also had trouble with this router at first. it kept cutting off my cable modem. but after i went into the wireless settings i set it to just wireless "G" only, since i dont have an "N" card yet. and it worked fine.

  • i spend a whole day with this fucking router. i had to chat four times with linksys. after second time it worked.then it stooped working again. i had to do all the setting again and i dont really know that if i am gonna have to do this AGAIN.

  • Hello

I'm having big problems with my DNS settings, For example when I'm doing the test for xbox live or PSN it will say ip obtained but will constantly fail at the DNS can you please help ty.

  • from the day u bought it has it given u any problems?

  • No until 2 days ago when it it woulnt accept any IP addresses . See my reply to oBLUoTriggao at abv .

  • 2 Questions:

    1. Do you have a Xbox 360? wondering how the wired connection is

    2. Have you tried and downloads with bittorrent with this router?

    thanks

  • i dont know about wired but wireless is very good

  • Uh hey man great video your like the only person on youtube who has a video about this router as of now. I got the exact same model and I wanted to know if you could give me any tips on it. I use the wireless router to connect to my xbox 360 wireless and I lag like crazy even! Any tips would be appreciated. Sorry for the huge comment

  • Well i'm not sure and Im about to withdraw this video. My lovely router failed 3 days ago, it no longer accepts any ip addresses. Linksys customer support tried to blame the problem on my ISP but my ISP DSL modem works fine when connected directly to my PC. After 4 calls averaging 60 mins apiece to Linksys customer support the decided it was defective and are sending me a new one. I will post again in a month when I can judge the replacement.
