this is a great video. i work at an OB/GYN practice and ovarian cyst is very common. it's good to have a video so someone can actually see what the procedure looks like.
I have a 4cm cyst on my right ovary and a 6.5cm cyst on my left ovary and I get the left one removed in a 2 weeks and watching this made me feel weird thinking this is whats gonna happen its plain creepy.
I had this done six years ago and have since been diagnosed with PCOS. The cyst has come back and I am having it removed again in the next month or so.
I just had mine removed 3 days ago. It was 7 cm diameter at my left ovary. The surgery took 2:45 hours. The recovery was fast, I was walking in less than 24 hours. There was no pain, found it during my regular check up.
You're so lucky they found it! Mine got as big as a softball and was hurting so bad. It was so big they couldn't feel it manually they had to use an ultrasound.
does any-body knows where can I get a free surgery done I'm from pomona, and I don't have medical or any type of insurence. I do have a big mass and a enlargement uterous. please somebody could help me.
Has anyone had a complex cyst which was removed and the ovary was intact? If yes, who was your surgeon? I am finding that most surgeons find it easier to get rid of everything
i had a laparoscopic cystectomy done last week to remove an 8 x 8 cm endometriotic cyst. it took almost 4 hours. but it doesnt matter how long the op is, the recovery is great, not much pain involved. u hv to find the right, experienced surgeon to do it..
i have a cyst that is 10cm i believe this is the surgery im having done on march 17th thanks for posting the video, now i know what i am going to have done.
the duration of such operation depend on the skill od the surgeon, number and nature of cyst to be removed but generally from half an hour to one hour.
Hi Ceekaii08, mine took approximately 2 hours, I had one in each ovary. However I don't really think it is important how long it takes after you got them all removed. Basically the result is more important. Get well soon!
This is an incredible macro-view of the surgery, but I wonder why they removed the inner sac from the outer lining. Couldn't they simply remove the entire thing and cauterize the vessels attached to it?
I lived with a lot of female problems since i was 16yrs. I had an ovarian cyst that was the size of a large orange. The Dr. had to take my ovary and tube. He left a stump, but had i known he had left ovarian tissue behind. I would have went for his medical licence. That had caused soooo much problems and sooo much surgery after i was 22yrs of age. I was plagued with endometriosis until i was 40yrs old. I had surgical menopause in May 1999. I still have BIG PROBLEMS with adhesions.Keep one OVARY!
this video is great...do you have a vid of similar procedure but performed on the male testicle. Ive got a cyst and its causing me so much pain, think its the cause of the hip pain im in aswell now. i love these surgeons instruments. waow.

Mine took about an hour or 2 hours today

Depends on how big it is mine only took about 2 hours but if they need to cut u open a lot instead of just 3 small incisions it could take longer

Hi Goforceforever,
The aim is to preserve as much ovarian tissue as possible and this is represented by the outer capsule layer.
