I bought a black Les Paul. Less than a year the later fuckin strap came off, couldn't catch the guitar, and it crashed face first on the concrete! Did a lot of damage. Most of it got fixed but not all at once. Had to rig things with tape and other shit for a while. The frets also dented and some of the frets it causes slight problems but have to bend the strings the other way. This happened 11 years ago. Still play the guitar. So lesson is don't trust a strap unless you KNOW it won't come off!
@redstratocaster1942 this is the Band's last concert. It was on a dvd called "the last waltz". you can see robbie robertson jump in and solo after clapton's guitar fell
one word: Straplocks. if you have this problem then make the investment in straplocks and a decent strap.. it can happen to ANY guitar make because its the strap coming off the guitar from the hole getting stretched out.--nothing to do with Fender or Gibson etc...
@russdonruss actually, it has to do with the kind of strap pin that they have, fenders have more of a v shape that tends to not hold as well, gibsons have sortof like a permanent strap lock type thing
at least it was timed well enough... cause that actually sounded like it could have been the end, even though there was another bar or so before he handed it over... if it had happened at like 0:05 then it woulda been real embarrassing
well.... that doesn't necesarilly mean it's not funny. i play music and it's happened to me and i think it's funny. u just go oh shit and u laugh and the crowd laughs and then u go buy strap locks.

I don't know why people don't understand that he did it on purpose. He puts the twist in the strap right before he puts the guitar on.

@russdonruss It wasn't the hole getting stretched on Eric's strap, it was just flipped awkwardly around the wrong way. Gravity dislodged the strap.
