Cool! I have one of those! I don't know what year. Cant get spark. I don't know if its the coil or condenser. points are clean. And the Kick start doesn't work like it should.
that thing looks 125% great. i wish i had old engines like that. got pliantly of 1970's stuff but not allot earlier. i think the problem was australia used crappy english engines up until the 70's so there isnt much left thats any good.
@anthacdc personally ide take an old briggs any day. my dislike for villiers engines arises from the fact every single one ive had has eventually required a rewound magneto assembly. my favorite engines has to be the old Tecumseh's because they will run for ever and a day even with burnt exhaust valves, split rings and soo much play in the big end bearing that it was virtually falling off. (had one for years until a tree fell over the fence and onto it).
@Jaytheozzi yea i agree the old briggs are great and probably my favourite engines,
my experience with old villiers which i restore is great i never have had a problems with the magneto's, i think they are a solid engine and last forever with little care, i have a few old tecumseh and yea the old ones are great and run forever.
@anthacdc At any rate I think the challenge with fixing an old engine is a great opportunity. Sometimes finding better valves, rings, etc... We are lucky to live in a time to have so many old engines out there to choose from!
@Jaytheozzi Thank you. This hobby is the best when it comes to the people and the engines, Keep looking and I hope you can find something over there that is worth the effort, I find some of my engines on Ebay and the others at shows!
Is this the same model "Y" as was in an earlier video with that up draft carb and holes in the shroud towards the bottom? If so, AWESOME JOB!!!!!
