In the "Rubber Hand" experiment and others like it they are able to have a subjects conscious experience of their bodily locale shifted to a rubber copy of themselves. I theorize that the pineal gland was an evolutionary tool that allowed animals to "train" while they sleeped. Monkeys who had these movies or dreams playing while they slept of things like being chased by leapords allowed them to train for it and potentially have a higher chance of survive in actual instances while awake.

I hypothesize (the right word) along with the vast majority of neuroscientists, that dreaming is constituted by the processes of memory consolidation, not hypotheticals, but there may be an element of that in consolidating one's neural architecture in the hard Jungian sense. Why not accept that the self is a distributed process spanning vast tracts of brain matter? The self becomes no more real when it is attributed to any specific gland.

I theorize that the pineal gland was an evolutionary tool that allowed animals to "train" while they sleeped. It allowed dreams which are simply hypothetical hallucinations that played out that the animal learned to react to before it happened in the real world. Monkeys who had these movies or dreams playing while they slept of things like being chased by leapords allowed them to train for it and potentially have a higher chance of survive in actual instances while awake.

I hypothesize (the right word) along with the vast majority of neuroscientists, that dreaming is constituted by the processes of memory consolidation, not hypotheticals, but there may be an element of that in consolidating one's neural architecture in the hard Jungian sense. But first of all it needs to made clear what Jung was even talking about. He certainly didn't support any mind-brain or substance dualism.

I have seen pineal glands and they look nothing even close to an eye. They may have the microscopic structure similar to an eye but they actually do not work anything - or look anything similar.
I don't doubt the gland has some amazing purposes but so do all glnads and organs - the human body is scarcely understood.

I never believed in any sort of "new age religion." I still don't. But you can't tell people what they "haven't" experienced. From the the late 70s through late 80s I spent a great deal of time visiting other realms (and a great deal of money :) but i never experienced anything like you describe.
Unlike virtually all of the other travelers, I never experienced a single "bad trip". Pretty amazing when you consider I was a 'frequent flyer'. :-D
